    In newer models (mine is 3230CDW) that has a "Cancel" button, the method in the video does not work. However, if you "Cancel" (rather than "Back") + "Down Arrow", it works fine!

      What you show is exactly the model of HL-L2350DW, without the cancel button. Thanks for the instruction! However, after the printer enters the "sleep" mode (NOT "deep sleep"), even though I set the Deep Sleep mode as Off, print jobs are not really operated as the printer is in sleep mode. I still have to turn the printer off and back on to get it out of the sleep mode.

    I do all of this stuff, the printer *STILL* sits there saying "sleep" and doesn't respond until I mash buttons and somehow it wakes up. I occasionally use this printer mostly to print labels, which means 100% of the time this thing has gone to sleep when I need it and nothing wakes it up. Anyone who works at Brother - what the hell were you thinking with this absolutely unusable garbage? What on earth is the point of a WIFI printer that you are supposed to be able to operate from anywhere in your network if you have to PHYSICALLY GO TO THE PRINTER to wake it up and troubleshoot it EVERY TIME YOU NEED TO PRINT. Honestly it is comically frustrating and stupid. Eco features are not supposed to break the product.

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  4 месяца назад +3

      Yeah this is one of the dumbest implementation of a power saving "feature" I´ve ever seen. I have also had issues with this "coming back" even though the setting is off. Sometimes it has worked to do a factory reset and then disable the setting again, and sometimes the printer just stays on (like it should) for months even though it has not been able to do so prior the this (without me changing any settings). Really wish I had some more ideas, but this printer is a bit of an enigma. Which is sad because it prints both accurate, sharp and fast. // Chris

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  Месяц назад

      Hm, odd! I have had to do this myself as well a few times since the settings seem to "reset" eventually (could be when the printer is disconnected from power for too long or something). I would try disconnecting the printer from power for about 10 min, then pluggin it back in and redoing the procedure. If it still does not work you could also try and factory reset it and then turn off deep sleep. The printer will then have to be reinstalled and given Wi-Fi-settings again though. Reset is done by going to "Initial Setup" and selecting "Reset" followed by "Factory Reset". // Chris

    I have the HL-L2390DW as you show also is supposed to work to do this. What is the back button on this model? The only button I see with an arrow is the clear button. It didn't work when I pressed that and the minus button together and it didn't do what you said it would. Help, please.

      @GetThereFaster  3 года назад

      As far as I´ve been able to read this should work on the L2390DW as well. But you are absolutely correct that the button layout is different from the L2350DW (in the video). Have you tried with any other button combinations? I would also say that the Clear-button is the equivalent of the Back-button. Some comments I´ve read suggest that you need to press the Start-button together with the *-button. However as far as I can see the L3290DW does not have a *-button. I would try some other combinations to start with. Most prominently perhaps, minus + start or clear + start. // Chris

    Hello, thanks for the video. Im looking into these brother models for a friend in a wheelchair. And I keep reading about these printers not waking up after they have not been used for a while? My friend would not enjoy having to push a button on the printer before every print job between a few weeks?

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  Год назад +1

      Hi! I am still using the printer in question for home and I would argue to say that when it comes to the actual printing it´s one of the most quality printers I´ve used, at least in the somewhat lower price range. For me I have had to redo the process with the deep sleep settings about two times in about three years. However one of the times I think it was some kind of issue with the Wi-Fi-settings instead since I had to do a complete factory reset to solve the printer not waking up.
      As long as you set the deep sleep setting to off I would say the printer could be a good choice in your specific case. Keep in mind though that it is relatively heavy to move and lift. I have mine tucked away inside a cabinet and have to svivel it outwards every time the paper needs to be refilled, something I could image being a little tough if you cannot bend down properly etc. So just be sure to have it at a good height :-) // Chris

    Can't get this to work on a Brother HL-L6200DW

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  2 года назад

      Hi! Providing Brother hasn´t changed anything to the software, from what I can see (read), it should work with the L6200DW as well. Do you get access to the Deep Sleep-menu at all or does the "double-button-press" simply not work at all? // Chris

  • @4144758
    @4144758 3 года назад +1

    *Real Solution: Be Sure Your Printer is USING WSD PORT Under Printer Properties > Ports > checkboxes* If you use the Std TCP/IP reg port which is installed by he brother software it won't wake the printer. Installing with windows printer page prefers the WSD protocol on the same port. Tested on 5 computers with multiple configs Windows 10 & Ubuntu & Bro HL-2350DW

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  3 года назад +4

      Thx for the input! In my case though the printer automatically set it self to a WSD-port, and turning Deep Sleep of as described in the video was the only way I could get rid of the issue. There might be new hardware/software revisions of the printer that acts differently regarding the ports.
      The printer should though function without having too use a computer to manually change port-settings. Specially since it is also compatible with phones for printing. Just as the deep sleep function should work properly to begin with. I´d still say the actual *real solution* lies in a software update from Brother. / Chris

  • @Phi1l
    @Phi1l 2 года назад

    That doesn't work? It shows exactly what you go through in the video on the screen, but then after its gone back to general settings, the sleep message just reappears after a while. I don't understand why its gone into sleep in the first place I only printed something off a couple of hours earlier. My printer is using WSD PORT as well. Is it because my printer is wireless?

    • @GetThereFaster
      @GetThereFaster  2 года назад

      Hi! It will still (oddly enough) say "Sleep" on the display even when the "Deep Sleep" function is turned off. The printer has some kind of "normal sleep" too, that I´m guessing is just a normal idle mode, but this is labeled as "Sleep" on the display. So basically you cannot tell from the normal display whether or not Deep Sleep is activated. On a side note my printer (still have the one in the video) decided to completely stop responding yesterday, something that required a restart (remove the power cable). I thought the Deep Sleep function had restored itself somehow, but after checking it was still off. Maybe your printer had a similar hick-up and just needed to be restarted? // Chris
