Honestly, mad props to the tactic used this ep - in pathfinder and older D&D editions (Don't know if it's true for 5th ed too) but if you cast water walk on a creature that's underwater it forcibly elevates to the top and can't swim anymore, using that offensively to disorient the creature is amazing creative use of a spell usually used as a utility buff.
The entire GS series is obviously someone's D&D game. Vancian casting system makes it extremely apparent
Yeah, I can tell that goblin slayer is largely based on Pathfinder 1st edition or D&D 3.5 edition (which are basically the same) or older editions, as the combat is unforgivable and there are actually straightforward rules for the things goblin slayer pulls off. It’s awesome!

Thing is, they gave him the wrong mission because for the Innsmouth/gillmen, sea goblins is a racial slur. The fault lies on whoever requested that mission.

It was the Guild Girl disguising the true aspect of the mission, just for the Goblin Slayer.
Goblin Slayer (Abridged): “Hmmm. It doesn’t look like a gawblin. It doesn’t smell like a gawblin. But there could be gawblins hiding inside! Let’s slay it!”
Goblin Slayer is just trying to do his job, he can't change careers and become a sea serpent slayer now can he?

It killed me when he sounded damn near *offended* that there weren't any goblins on this one when he reported back to the Guild Girl.
If Goblins aren't involved, he doesn't see the problem.

thought heavy rain makes bows ineffective?Because water damages the string or something? By that logic, High-Elf’s bow would be absolutely F-ed here (0:55), no?
(Remembered this from some history lesson about how English bowmen beat French crossbow men at a battle because they removed their bowstrings to protect them from rain the previous day. Meanwhile the crossbow men can’t do that, resulting in most of their weapons being ineffective during the battle)
High Elf's bow is Elven so it utilizes exotic materials, likely of some vaguely magical origin so it doesnt operate exactly like a normal bow. It's a bit like worrying about rusting when the armor isnt even made of metal.

@@Hellspawn532That actually avoids the problem with the bowstring since spider webs naturally wick away water so that they stay intact for spiders to catch their prey and they have more tensile strength than steel not counting the fact people have made synthetic spider silk stronger than the former.
Now if it was a Goblin that could fight in aquatic terrains that would've been much harder than an oversized sea snake
