My hardest bow hunt. Hunting my nemesis, the bezoar ibex in Turkey.

- We all have a hunting nemesis, that animal that for some reason it's getting harder to hunt everytime you tty it. For me it was the Bezoar Ibex. I understimated the animal and the country they live in, so the mountains had a lesson ready for me.
It took 22 days and 3 trips to get the job done, but thanks to this I discovered the real Turkey that made me appreciate de Bezoar Ibex even more.

Reminds me of my bezoar quest. Although I'm not a bow hunter I experienced many of the same emotions. I have successfully hunted 30 Capri species, but for some reason the bezoar required three trips, a missed shot, a night on the mountain, deep snow, a much perseverance. Looking back it was truly an awesome experience. Beautiful country and friendly hospitable people.

A man only has so many Ibex hunts in him but that was a tremendous hunt. I love my HHA sports sight at 80 yards no issue but that wind was a problem at least you got a shot, Great job brother Randall Henderson Harrison Arkansas But you hammered him on the last try and you could tell by the sound it was a good hit nicely don Pedro

Bow hunting at its best

But you will be back
Anytime spent in the outdoors is never a waste, it is precious time. The meat must be very good quality and any animal used and harvested is wonderful organic food you can't get at a store or restaurant. The " trophy" word is thrown around way too much, I've seen the people like this and they are not good. A true trophy is each and every one be it a doe or buck, a spike or giants 12 PT ..., it the experience spent in the outdoors, friends , time with a great dog, hiking a mountain or sitting on a dock with a cane pole and a youngster. Horns,hides,meat is just a cherry on top.
I complety agree with your perspective, I share the same ideology! But its also true than on ibex species the bigger trophy means an older animal, the older the better. I think its important to be selective, if you look for does try to harvest the right one, the same for spikes etc.. thanks for the support Sean!!

I was in the Caucasus 30 years ago as a climber in the Bezengi area.There, the tours came very close to the mountaineers' camps in the mountains at an altitude of about 3500m and at night they went into the camp looking for food.They ate a box of salt that I forgot on the table. During the day I threw stones at them to drive them away from the camp. They were almost pets.I don't know if there are tours there now.
You helped them more than you think with that box of salt. Salt is hard to come by for animals and we all need it

Thanks Rick! The arrow flight on the shot is sideways because of the wind. One the killshot one because it touched the tree. Just need better conditions next time.. hahaha.

Pedro excelente vídeo, las tomas, la producción, todo excelente. Yo estoy igual, he ido 17 veces a tratar de cazar la guanta, también le llaman yamala y en Brasil le llaman Paca y hasta ahora solo la he cazado una vez. Es un animal muy astuto, tiene unos de los mejores olfatos del mundo y es nocturno, por lo tanto solo hay como cazarlo en la noche con visor nocturno, subidos en un árbol. Su carne es deliciosa. Quizá y algún día te animas a venir Ecuador, yo podría acompañarte a cazar la guanta en la Amazonia con la Tribu Shuara, sería una gran experiencia. Un fuerte abrazo!

great hunt - i have hunted turkey for ibex myself - i always have to wonder what guys like do for a living or where they get the immense sums to travel the world to hunt -
i also respect the additional difficulty of getting close enough for an ethical bow shot especially in this era of unethical long rifle shooting
it snowed so hard (3 feet) while i was there we had to leave early without me getting an ibex - the lower hiway was backed up for miles because of snow blocking the road - spent two days in the vehicle

This video is from 2018, back then I was using other arrows now I am using Victory Archery arrows, in particular the VAP SS.
