Though when Melanie wants to release something, she has to talk with them and such... When all of that proccess is done and the song is ready to release, it gets released by the record label. Thus, makes the song "officially released" Besides the unreleased songs, old songs and Piggyback, all of the Melanie's songs that you can accsess is released by her record label. As you may know, in 2017 Melanie got accused by her friend. Since Mel is better at explaining herself via writing, she wrote a song called "PIGGYBACK" and released it on her SoundCloud account. There is a plenty of assumptions we can make on why she didn't release it via her record label and released it by herself on SoundCloud. 1. She probably didn't wanted to make money out of that song because it's a song to explain a very personal manner. 2. When artists wants to release music, record label has bit of a long proccess. Since Mel has to explain herself quickly due to people cancelling her and growing the hate train, she might wanted to release it as fast as she can. 3. The accusation turned into a kind of a drama, she might wanted to explain it and be done with it. And if she released it officially (via her record label.) it would be on all streaming devices and she might not wanted to do that because the song and the drama would always be there.
