Hello I know this DAP is in ancient past but I found them cheap (used). So my question is, should I get the ibasso dx220 with amp8/sony wm1a or go with DAC/amp combo like Mojo,Gryphon, G5 etc? I think DAP is enough for me since I gonna use them with IEM and I only play local files, while on the go TWS with phone... or do iem really sound good with a proper DAC/AMP combo Thanks
Absolutely fantastic review! I ordered mine from Apos a few days ago. I am still mulling over some tube rolling. I might grab a matched pair of jj electronics or possibly Tung Sol. Just to try and listen for any difference whatsoever. Let’s see if I can switch them in under 4 seconds lol! Anyway I loved the review and thankfully it confirmed my decision to invest in this hybrid Dac/amp. ☮️
I’m still waiting for Apos to return from holiday so they can ship my unit. So it will probably be at least another 7-10 days until I receive it. Once I do, I will definitely check out that situation first thing 😉
@@danieleturrin5625 I don’t know… it has a dedicated ES9038Q2M Dac chip for each channel and a transistor/tube hybrid amp for each channel. Isn’t that what fully balanced is? My SMSL definitely doesn’t have that, yet it does have a 4.4mm phone jack. I know for sure that it’s not balanced, nor do they claim it is. The Xduoo on the other hand has all of the internals necessary. I’m not sure why they’d bother to put them in if it’s not a fully/truly balanced Dac/amp. But I will definitely put it through testing as rigorous as I am able to and if will post a review on my channel once I feel I’ve got some answers. ☮️

Nice Review, but can you compare the balanced output to the SE one? On mine, the balanced output is slightly less loud than the SE one. From the spec sheet the balanced output is supposedly twice the power, but the volume is nearly the same.
Love the fact you outright mentioned you don't have two TA-22s so trying to compare tubes on the unit is not really going to provide meaningful info. I really dislike people saying once they swapped to X tube, things got better. Just the timeframe of swapping tubes, and expectation bias is enough for me to dismiss those claims. You ever notice how EVERY single time someone moves from stock tubes on any amp to some other tube, it's ALWAYS better? Yeah, it's BS. Unless you have two identical setups with the same volume output (measured perfectly), any tube swap impressions on one unit are invalid.

Im considering the ta-22 or ta-20 as well as the Cayin HA-1A Curious about your thoughts comparing the xduoos with the Cayin. thanks
The Cayin is a true tube amp, which I much prefer over hybrids. I just haven’t heard a hybrid that replicates an OTL tube amp. I like the Cayin
