Somebody needs to say the words "Ed Boyer". He is their genius mixer, and he does it remotely from his rural home (along with mixing for many other groups, we're told). Joseph Restituto did an interview with him (it's on youtube), if you're interested. Restituto also interviewed Ben Bram, their producer/arranger - often called the 6th member of PTX; he's the one who was conducting from the piano and giving vocal hints. He and Scott met in university and that connection was the genesis of the 5-member group that won the Sing-Off in 2011. He's been with them ever since.
Jacob also interview Ben Hausdo who filmed this and all of their tour videos
Ben was working through NBC on the "Sing Off" as a consultant for all the groups. I think he said that he actually didn't work that much with PTX during the show because they didn't need as much assistance as the other groups putting together their arrangements for the show. Clearly after the show he has kept his relationship with them and continues to work with them.
@@rogerroger5171 , late to the party here, but in the Restituto interview, Ben Bram describes driving the tour bus for PTX in the early days, so yeah, he certainly kept the relationship!
🌟👉Welcome back to PENTATONIX!! Ben Hausdorf (the cameraman aka Kirstie's boyfriend) said there is about 30 hours of footage for this film. He said watching them create is BEAUTIFUL! There are LIVE performances of the songs without official videos.
Also I don't know if you know that PENTATONIX is getting a STAR on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame next year! That is AMAZING!!!!
Man!! I want to see all 30 hours... or at least a full length documentary!
Listening to you guys geek out over this was pure gold. Now you have to react to the Evergreen album so you can hear all the songs from this video. 🤣
They don't have an official video for I Saw Three Ships (with all the percussion) but there are some really good lives since it was one they did on their Christmas PR junket. They put the percussion on as a track behind the live performance - and did on tour, too, as well as audience participation - but it's worth a watch. It was one of the best songs on the album.
They say Mitch was likely the most visibly exhausted and least present because this was the week he was also releasing his solo Messer EP.
You guys really need to react to Kevin Olusola playing his cello and beatboxing to an original called Renegade. I will literally blow your mind. The other must is PTX Aha in Singapore. Mitch goes nuts on two Red Bulls. Subscribing to wait for your reactions to these!
I'm sure someone has already told you this, but Mitch was launching his solo EP under the name "Messer" at the exact same time. I'm sure you are right that just this would be exhausting but he was launching that with videos, Livestream, and an already established podcast at the same time. The podcast during this week he said his voice was a little hoarse bc he had been singing A LOT. So this is what he was singing. Lol
Kirstie's baby daddy was their videographer for this video. They had a baby girl at the end of June by the way. Thank you for your breakdown. It was very interesting! I hope you can react to some of the tracks on "Evergreen". Thank you and good to see you back again reacting to PTX!
bruh you really need to react to their rendition of New Rules x Are You That Somebody, it has everything you would want
This one is one of my favourites 😍 It's SO GOOD.
These guys aren't just talented but wildly creative!
Big facts!
Thank you so much for all the information. It’s one thing to listen to PTX record this but it’s another thing for you guys to actually explain what they’re doing in understandable detail. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reactions! 💕
Well thank you, Jean! What they do in the studio really is a work of magic, and it’s amazing to watch true professionals (performers AND engineers) really express themselves through their productions!
See, this is why I watch you guys. You give so much more technical insight than anyone else I watch. So glad this one got recommended to you.
I’ve watched this a couple of times, and still y’all made me hear something more. I love you guys. As always love from Alabama ❤️❤️❤️
I agree. I’ve watched this an embarrassing number of times 😬 but listening from your professional perspective was very enlightening….and as always, entertaining!
Thanks, Dana! We’re really glad to see our viewers learning so much from our info!
Judith, I’m not sure I’d go so far as to call us “professionals” haha! But thank you, we really appreciate it!
In case you have not yet heard "Over the River". All of the things they were working on was simply background choral stuff. That much detail for the background.
Mind blowing.
They react to it in December
So many vocal layers and tracks in ProTools, it gives me a headache just thinking about it! 🤣
Finally!!! Welcome back to PTX!
You should consider listening & reacting to the “I Saw Three Ships” track off their album.
Thank you for reacting to this video. You only see or hear the final product but never the process. Thank you.
It was fun! Thanks, Dianne!
So excited to see y’all reacting to PTX, and to their BTS for Evergreen. Thank you. This was fun!
DANCE OF THE SUGAR PLUMB FAIRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's insane, you guys are fantastic. thank you so much for the great entertainment.
Thank YOU for being here with us and watching! We appreciate it!
Such a detailed reaction of a great short documentary. Loved it.
Hugs and kisses from Granny Pat. Huge THANK YOU for this. Watching and listening to professionals like yourselves adds so much to the experience.
Wyoming is not the only hot spot. Heat index in La. last week was 116 degrees.
Ben Hausdorf has been their videographer for several years, 2018 PTXperience to 2021 Evergreen Tour. Wish you had the time to react to some of these tour episodes.
Ben Bram has worked with the band as arranger and producer since 2011 and worked with Scott at USC to put the band together for Sing Off.
Thank you, Patricia! I’d hardly call us “professionals” 😂 but we’re really glad to see so many people getting takeaways from our information!
Such a great perspective on this! You could tell on your faces the pure joy and fascination this inspired in you!
Also am at the body percussion part now and you might have noticed that Scott pointed to kevin and Matt for the more complex parts. Kevin for obvious reasons but Matt because he plays the drums in his free time!
That was so cool to see, I saw the Evergreen concert this past year and seeing this then hearing them live makes it even more stunning ....now I gotta go back and watch the videos...thanks guys that was totally cool.
Thanks so much for all the details that you've added to the process this group ( and any others) go thru to record music. I've watched this video a couple of times and this is the first time I've learned so much just by watching it with you guys. I do know that each of the PTX members also have a home studio. During lockdowns they recorded from home and sent the stuff in to have it "polished". Re the angle they use for the mikes: here's a solo that Mitch put out called Find You by Zedd and he's face on to his mike: ruclips.net/video/n7NAcK2hu1Y/видео.html
Loved the breakdown, you pointed out so many details that I now know to look for. Thanks for the fantastic reaction.
Thank you, John! It’s been really nice to see that our viewers are learning so much from our ramblings! 😂
I've seen this a couple times, but you guys explained and demonstrated the work in an organized order. That was cool. Thank you!
Pentatonix sings in cursive with all those runs.
This is only the second time I have heard the full version of this. Your comments and analysis was by far the most informative and the most detailed. It was worth every single second!
Guys if you ever get a chance to hear this group live......DO IT!!!! They sound just as good live as in these recordings
Very cool to hear the perspective from people familiar with how recording works. Thanks for the insight!
This was worth the wait. Thank you for reacting to this. I've seen this several times but hearing your take on it and how you explained some things brought a whole new experience. I really appreciate you going into detail about how the technical stuff works because I had no idea.
Thank you for the very interesting and informative reaction to this Recording of Evergreen video. I enjoyed it a great deal. I love how much they respected the ideas and suggestions of each other during all of that. I also love how willing they were to try the suggestions. They truly are a team.
Love the recording expertise you added to this video! It means so much more with the background explanations you put in!
Love your reactions! Would love to hear your thoughts on Avi Kaplan's solo music. His new album Floating on a Dream came out a few months ago and every song is amazing.
Yes, PLEASE ! Avi's solo music is fantastic. So glad to see you doing some PTX again !
Really loved hearing your perspective on this video! I have seen many reactions to this and you pointed out so many things that no one else pointed out! Thank you so much!
Well thank you, sommers! We’re glad people are getting some takeaways from our information!
Happy to see you guys reacting to this! Thank you for the walk through!
Thank you for joining us, Larry!
It was so much fun watching you guys react to this. I always learn something new. Couldn’t click fast enough when I saw it.
♥ How about a little Christmas in July with I Saw Three Ships? The live is incredible!
I've seen this so many times and you taught me things that I didn't even know and helped me see something new. excellent reaction guys!
please react to more of Kevin's solo stuff; I guarantee you'll be blown away. I recommend "Sign of the Times" and "Don't Dream It's Over" (I feel like I've seen you react to "Down" already?) ❤️
I enjoyed your insight on this video, it adds value to watching it!
Loved your reaction to themaking of evergreen Your enthusiasm and your knowledge about what was going on kept me mesmerized clear to the end thank you
I’ve been waiting for you to do more PTX! ❤️
Learned SO much from you guys!
Thanks, Kaye! We appreciate that!
Thank you for the extra information... really fascinating! Now, PLEASE react to the whole album to hear the finished results..
This was so interesting, thanks so much for your insights! This is the first time you have popped up in my feed, so I’m a new subscriber, and now I’m off to watch your past PTX stuff. Peace from Ohio …
Thanks for being here, we really appreciate it! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
well you do know Hallmark still do Christmas in July so watching this video now just makes sense lol
Loved your guy’s breakdown and commentary on this.
I'm going to start being obnoxious again about a video. You were so kind to finally react to Recording, I think you should consider Frozen Medley by Superfruit (Scott & Mitch) featuring Kirstie. It's nothing but fun and apparently well lubricated by adult beverages.
Thank you so much for all the insight.
Thank you for joining us, Shelby!
Loved watching this! I clicked on this so fast lol
Great video! Lots of insight. Thank you,!
Of course, Roger! Thank you for joining us!
Chris and Matt your one liners closing words always have a enormous hilarity, See you in the showers.😂😂😂😂
We’re glad you stay til the end! We frequently fall completely off the rails!
@@307Reacts some the choice nuggets pass thru there.👍
Please react to Pentatonix version of sound of silence. It will blow your mind.
Duuuudes....Home Free just dropped Doobie Brothers cover....(sure you know)l....love your reactions....love from Maryland...hot/muggy as hell in MD too....love to PTX too!!!
Thanks, Karin! Home Free is on the list for sure! I’ve been out to the Fells Point area of Baltimore, awesome place! But yes, the humidity is insane!
I think it was this work ethic that did Avi in.
Thanks for explaining some of the technical details. For another in-the-studio documentary, here's the link to a 20-minute video of Queen recording "One Vision", with lots of pictures of equipment, interview quotes from the group and Freddie Mercury being really picky -- ruclips.net/video/ywATOmlX6n4/видео.html There's also a longer documentary which is Queen guitarist Brian May going through the writing, video filming and individual recording tracks for "Bohemian Rhapsody"
you guys should react to Shallow, and the Evolution of Michael Jackson
Perfect and Daft Punk
Please react to Dimash Kudaibergen -SOS it will change everything you know about singing and vocals ... greetings from ROMÂNIA
Pls listen to dimash sing SOS on his digital channel
now try some Lovebites (not acapella)
There is a really entertaining short about how they did the Evolution of Beyonce. Pretty fun to watch them create! ruclips.net/video/5yU9wFVzZoE/видео.html
Also, behind the scenes of Bohemian Rhapsody. ruclips.net/video/Q8ugJnIG_Lk/видео.html Enjoyed this reaction!
Have y’all not gonna do Tom MacDonald’s new song, Names? Thanks guys! 🎶
We reacted to it yesterday, it should be dropping…. Next Monday? (Pretty sure.)
@@307Reacts Thanks guys!!
Too much cussing, will not continue to listen
