Best part was after that when she said "this Master Ring will be literal perfection.... when it fits a woman!" Then she goes on to be the bestest dark queen evarrr and like everyone looks upon her and totes stan her and despair an' stuff.
I loved the part when Galadriel met a young Gandalf and told him "you are a wizard Gandalf!" and gave him his first staff. A defining moment in his life...we all know the rest...
Yeah that's in the movies. Gandalf was much, much older than Galadriel. He was born Eru's thought in the First Music. Gandalf was a powerful Maia(lesser Angel), Named after Eonwe among Manwe's servants. His first interaction with Galadriel was to deliver a message pardoning her for her actions during the Noldor rebellion. She rejected the offer, denying that even applied to her.
My favorite part by far is when Elrond tells the stunningly brave Galadriel that "facts don't care about her feelings" before Drogon carries away the queen's body...

Why does every adaptation these days ends up being queer or racial woke? Why don’t studios and producers come up with their own original projects if they wanna do something racial or queer related? The best part was when Sauron held up his ID and said “Diplomatic immunity!” Then Galadriel takes careful aim with her .44 and shoots him right in the head from a distance. “It’s just been revoked!” Excellent writing!
When they do these remakes/adaptations etc., they are not worried about money, the fans, or making a good product. They are telling the fans “this isn’t yours anymore”

The thing about eowyn in the novel is the fact that she didn't kill the witch king all by herself it was prophecy that he would die by no man and still she had to get the help of others like Pippin and others to make sure that she stabs him in the face and after that whole thing she was kinda screwed up by all of this so she decided to be a shield maiden to help others in pain and then after that she married too She did it due to the prophecy , she wasn't a badass guyladriel crap but was learning to defend herself in the novel and woman in tolkein verse are good and feminine and loyal

The reason the writing in the original movies was so good is the fact that they actually used an immense amount of Tolkien’s true poetry and lines! You can’t go wrong when showing respect to the creator!!!
Shockingly easy and in she does it no look, so its supposed to be cool or something. Basically right off the bat they’re saying hey this person is never in any real danger, she can just do whatever. It’s like when mary sue picked up a lightsaber her first time and was beating a guy who has been training with one since he was a kid.
The part where galadriel told elrond " I feel the need, the need for speed." as she flew away in her f-14 gave me the shivers. this adaptation is spot on.10/10

It is so tiring. They did that grrrrl power thing in the last Avengers movie and it just seemed so contrived. My best scene in LOTR is when King Aragorn tells the hobbits "you bow to no one" and the assembled power of Middle Earth goes to one knee to recognize the bravery and sacrifice these common nobodies have made.
I would also say the a key missing signature is that Tolkien grew up in a time of war and experienced its effects first hand. You can feel it in his writing. He is not just writing about a conflict, he is reflecting on his own experiences.

Tolkien hated war and didn't have one description of a battle in any of his books - those were entirely inventions of Hollywood for the movies. His son literally hates the movies bc of this. You don't know what you're talking about.
That is a good point. But I would be careful with that because Tolkien famously hated allegory and just wanted to share his imaginitive language, world, mythology and people with the world.

Watching Ben mouthing LotR intro as me and Galadriel say it out loud makes me irrationally happy. Such a great trilogy every great person I know seems to enjoy.
i hated it, i'm good at lip reading and none of what ben silently copied was right, he probably has only watched the movies 3 times over if that, unlike people like me, watched it easily 30 times over, i can recite the entire prologue without the movie even playing lmfao. hi's attempt was just messy and embarrassing tbh lol.
Found it amusing that literally a couple of minutes into the prologue we had a bunch of elf boys bullying Galadriel and mocking her abilities to set the stage for the series. Tolkein more than any other writer of his time appeared to respect females in his works and portrayed them as brave and capable, often going into battle alongside the men, especially in the Silmarillion. And yet these woke writers seem to be implying that elven society is really patriarchal with nobody willing to take Galadriel seriously and that the story needs to be about this single strong womxn overcoming all this patriarchy to prove herself and teach us all a lesson.
I don't know... when you compare the two troll fights, the original series to this snow troll, you see how bad this one really is. The original troll fight in Moria in Fellowship was so incredibly well done. You felt the stakes. All party members were trying to take it down and some even got hit but kept desperately fighting and trying to protect Frodo at the same time. It was a monumentally difficult task and a fight to the death. Compare that to wonder woman flying in from a sword toss to kneecap and instantly KO the snow troll single-handedly that just took out 5 dudes. It so stupid I'm sorry. I instantly don't care after that.
The fight was indeed very bad. But the fact that Galadriel is defeating the troll single handedly isn't stupid at all. She is one of the Eldar and saw the light of the 2 trees and therefore one of the most powerful elves ever. The Elves of the first Age were basically super heroes compared to the elves from the third age. One Elf even 1v1 the lord of the Balrogs in the Fall of Gondolin so Galadriel should be easy able to handle a troll. But the sword jumping and the overall choreography were still terrible.

Considering they were an elite company it seems likely she would have pick Nolder to go with her. I was not underwhelmed. I was heartbroken. They took the lifetime works of Tolkien and decided to strip out beating heart of it, throw in some random characters to check boxes. Diversity elves and Dwarves are not a thing. They literally do not exist. Galadriel's brother died honorably fighting a werewolf, not in battle... so why the revenge plot. She was also married to Celeborn right now. And her daughter Celebrian should be around... Harfoots are just Hobbits and they shouldn't be in this story. Unless maybe as the briefest cameo. Tar-Miriel and Galadriel never met. Etc. Etc. Etc. Also Celeborn shouldn't look older than Galadriel. They did all this to say "Tolkien is ours now" and they rewrote his history and had the audacity to put a line like "you've been told many lies about middle-earth" in the trailer and a lyric from one trailer that said "speak your truth" which is a phrase Tolkien would have thoroughly detested as a devout catholic pre-postmodernism.
It makes me appreciate how lucky we were to get the original LOTR trilogy, devoid of wokeness and true to the spirit as the author intended. We should look to that and Tolkien's books to help us navigate what lies before us culturally.

This is taking place in Valinor, the Undying Lands, which is a paradise where absolutely no violence was allowed and elves lived in perpetual bliss. This was before Kinslaying, but the show forgot about that anyway, so it never happened there. Also, I heard that elves were actually carving living trees in this show. That would be the same elves who revere and protect trees. This is just a few pieces I picked up from reviews (I recommend JSG reviews). I couldn't bring myself to actually watch it.
man the original LOTR is such a master piece. truly one of the greatest movies ever made. after watching that bit of the intro, I'm about to go back and watch the whole thing again (coz you can't just watch one and call it in) for the millionth time.
My mother read me ALL the Tolkien books when I was 8-10yrs old. Rather than turning on the TV she would sit me down at night and read me a chapter. I was to young to read them myself but I loved her reading them to me and the story. When I was a teenager I read them myself and I understood them better. While fantasy the books and story teach you about evil vs good. They teach you about friendship, being a good friend, taking care of others, to never quit and many other positive themes. That was 40yrs ago and now my mother is gone. I am very happy she read them to me and they were the first books she did read me. This RoP series is soooo bad, none of the original themes are there. Amazon should be very ashamed of themselves. It is absolutely awful.

I myself use to love when my mom would tell us stories rather reading books, I in turn read to my children as well when they were young. Love to see their faces so engaged in the story telling. I even read the appendix, lol. I might re read them one day. On a separate note I was reading the Game of Thrones until I found out that there were so many books etc and the author is still not done. The big issue with introducing multi-racial elements is that Tolkien (who was English) wrote it as if it was a fantasy world based in medieval Europe. There are humans of divergent colored skin in other parts of the world just look at the Haradrim who rode the Oliphaunts in Return of the King. People who live on the same continent in the same areas tend to share the same complexion and it feels forced because it is forced diversity for virtue signaling and they are hoping that that will be enough for people to love, cause their writers can barely put together a proper sentence. There was so much promise in a LOTR spinoff but to have it, the fans, and Tolkien's memory destroyed and insulted by Amazon so they can try and look good is just disappointing and shameful.

I introduced my wife to LOTR last year, we have been looking for something similar since then. Of course, I saw the trailers and read about Rings of Power and was against defiling my fond memory of Tolkien's books and the Jackson Trilogy, anyway, so my wife suggested we give it a try. We couldn't even get through the first episode it was soooo cringey and irritating, the dialogue, the characters and the overpowered strong woman who is never wrong. It's so transparent how it's forced and trying to imitate something from 2001 that didn't even have the technology we have today. Total trash, oh and goodluck to those of you who want to give a bad review on IMBD, it will be declined.

The same kind of thing happened after Mel Gibson's "The Passion Of The Christ." Before that point Hollywood didn't really respect the draw of any movie based on biblical accounts....until Mel Gibson shocked them with an incredibly successful movie that wasn't even written in English! After that Hollywood decided to get a hold of other biblical accounts and just butcher them. Noah's flood was turned into some sort of 'climate change' and 'an intense need to save animals from going extinct' themed nonsense instead of divine wrath at the wickedness of the world. They just want to take whatever was successful and get it into their own hands under their own control and are too stupid to realise they just gutted the very thing that made that success a success in the first place.
I'm not a Christian. In fact, I'm an atheist. But I am being one hundred percent straight when I say that Mel Gibson's The Passion is an absolute masterwork, a stunning piece of art, and an incredible telling of that story. A really remarkable film.

I think you hit the nail on the head here, I simply had no interest watching the first 2 episodes because through 2 HOURS they didn't give me a reason for the show to exist.
call me crazy but I find that the single point of Isildur keeping the ring is what makes the original story so damn good... as a young person it was one of the first stories I read that showed that kind of complexity of characters. we grow up as small children with simple stories of good and evil but in the real world sometimes the ones you think are purest or those closest to you end up betraying you. the original trilogy has deep moral overtones and framework, it is a combination of poetry and philosophy back dropped by a deep fantastical history of a place easily imagined, and thus easily loved.
To me it aint suprising, that Isildur kept the ring, when in start of the movie it said 9 rings were given to race of men who out of all crave power the most and so the rings got hold in Isildur, while his heroic warrior to cut out Sauron finger. He still cant resist his will to rule, when the ring gives it to him, while Elrond shouted that you need to drop the ring, so thats why in the Rivndeel meeting they decided that no man is given the ring, because they for sure cant resist its power and be abel to drop it in lava of Mount Doom in Mordor, so thats why they pick Hobbit to go drop it in Mount Doom, because from all diffrent races. Hobbits have need for power least from all, when they have not much intrest in power at all, so are small beings living in shire minding own business, but for sure the ring still can get hold on Hobbits, while not as strong as it gets on race of men, so thats why Frodo refused to drop it in the last movie, but luckly Smeagul jumped in and so Frodo pushed Smeagul to the lava with the ring, so the the ring got destroid after Smeagul death.
That's why Boromir was a perfectly written character. He represented the duality of humans. He was not a evil person, his behavior was simply influenced by circumstances. He had good intentions followed by the wrong actions. He didn't even have that much screen time and yet has way more depth than every character in this shitshow.

Tolkien is very black and white. Good vs evil. But each character in the universe struggles in the grey area between. Its easier to fall than to rise up.

I love how galadriel although she isnt a warrior and shes a girl can kill a cave troll with no problem while gandalf, aragornm legolas, gimli, boromir and all the hobbits had a tough time and took them like half an hour and one of them almost died. going against a cave troll for the fellowship was dangerous and your worried they wont make it through alive but not for galadriel. shes unstoppable! she literally jumps off a ship to swim hundreds of miles back to middleearth...
Remembering that Gandalf is also argubly more powerful then her in Lore given hes essencially an Angel in Tolkiens universe that too makes you wonder. What where they smoking?
On top of that like she doesn’t even look at the troll. It’s like a quarterback who is throwing no look 60 yard bombs that just somehow get caught, every single time. If she were a qb she’s be 120/120 completions with 75 touchdowns and 2000 yards passing.. in a single game.. There’s no real tension, she can do whatever she wants because mary sue this or that.
Well, we know (and she probably knows) that she survives into the Third Age, so she basically has infinite plot armor. I'm reminded of James T Kirk casually munching an apple while demolishing the Kobayashi Maru scenario. Now if Quentin Tarantino were behind this series, there might be some tension. 😉

Galadriel was a noldor and beheld the light of the trees in Valinor and studied under the Valar and Maias there. Her mother named her nerwan which meant man-maiden because of how she was built tomboyish almost but not in the sense or view that we see it today.
The elves in Tolkien are ethereal, transcendent beings. The elves in this show are like elves from The Witcher; just humans with pointy ears and just as petty. Someone even calls them "knife ears" at one point, which is a derogatory term from the Dragon Age games.
So the writers are just nerds that grew up on generic fantasy video games and are turning LOTR into that. Also, I think elves were pretty badass in some of the books before the main trilogy.

And, Cate Blanchett is such a powerhouse talent who brought the superhuman quality of Galadriel to life-this new version of her just seems like an ordinary 30-something with an axe to grind. As of yet, no real grace internally or externally, which is what the character should exude. And, if mysterious star man is indeed Gandalf, good luck there because like Ms. Blanchett, Ian McKellan is also inimitable.
It’s way deeper. Galadriel is basically Mother Earth, the divine feminine, soft and precious but “stronger than the pillars of the earth”. Like water , soft but at the same time the strongest force on earth. Cate Blanchett in her white dress , walked up barefoot to Dol Guldur and wiped out her opponent’s with one dismissive hand wave. Soo elegant but lethal at the same time . She doesn’t have to have masculine features to show her strength and her worth… this new Galadriel is basically a guy. Guy-ladriel. That’s the way modern feminism works … push away all inherently feminine and make them men and deny there’s difference and deny there’s a divinity in femininity that can create and sustain life which is exclusive to the feminine. I just find it mind-blowing that THIS is progress to them.
Also the fact that they changed Galadriel's overall character as some sort of she hulk wielding swords and hating on men. :o No inch of class in there. I mean even in the book Galadriel is op without even the need to lift a sword. I really don't get why they think elegant women wearing dresses and being a female= not strong. While woman wielding swords and dressing like a man= ultimate strongest. :/ Clearly can tell the writer failed in writing classes.
When Galadriel decided to jump off her boat, thousands of miles from anywhere, into an ocean full of 50 ft long sea monsters. I really felt the strength and independence.
Might as well have shown Amroth Instead. There is a famous song made bringing to life that poem/Song where he really did swim for many miles swimming like a gallant swan to get back to Nimrodel due to the faithless ship that didn't wait for her longer. Now she wonders forever. It's a great song, it's on youtube, starts off with a flute at a high tone melody
the acting is pretty shit though ngl. The only characters who I vaguely care about is probably elrond and durin, the other side stories are so fucking badly done that I can't help but not give a shit about their quests...
I don't normally watch your channel, but I am a big Tolkien fan. And I think you've highlighted a major reason I'm not normally a fan of high fantasy but i love Tolkien's works. Sure, most fantasy is highly inspired by Tolkien in terms of its tropes and trappings, but it usually lacks the *themes* that give his stories so much depth and beauty
Read The Silmarillion, your ignorance shows your lacking of knowledge on the subject. If anyone, it was Tolkien Jr that screwed things up by being bad at writing, and just cribbed his dad's notes together to try to make a story.
My favorite scene its when Sam gives frodo the last drops of water and fordo says "you leave nothing left for the return journey" and Sam replies " I don't think there will be a return Journey Mr Frodo" in that moment you realize that Sam always knew they're gonna die in this journey but he never told anything to Frodo .
The opening prologue in lotr is just... Amazing. Still remember to this day when i sat in the movie theatre and it started like that.... You were blown away. BLOWN! and ended with a cliffhanger that ppl talked about for a year... :D (those that havnt read the books) all in all, just amazing... now... that unique world they could have build upon is getting destroyed.
I remember when the internet was more rudimentary and I heard there was a LoTR trilogy coming. I remember going with my friends on opening night and knowing it would be great but BLOWN AWAY too! It was a moment I'll never forget

I found the part when Guyladriel saw Sauron and doing a battle cry as she waved her pistol said "You can't harm me, I have true love" so emotional. It was just too much I turned it off and had a good cry. With tears still streaming down my face I started watching Shehulk for the third time.
I love the part where galadriel flys to mordor magically and kills morgoth and sauron with her eyes closed without any problems whatsoever. shes unstoppable!

I love the conversation between Gandalf and Pippin in RotK when he says, “I never thought it would end like this.” and Gandalf comforts him with explaining what lies beyond and that “Death is just another door. One through which we all must pass.” This show should be so lucky to have that kind of writing.
Pippin's entire character is a good message. He's literally the fuck up. Nobody likes him, he messes plans up all the time, he fiddles with things even though he was told not to, but in the end those things led to the victory at Mordor. His entire character's theme is that it's okay to make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes lead to the best overall outcomes. Frodo and Sam couldn't have made it to Mordor without half the shit Pippin did on accident. Edit: You were talking more about the quote than Pippin's character, my bad. The writing in the LOTR triology was immaculate.

I like how the the galadriels companions are apparently so incompetent, that they got utterly crushed by a frost cave troll - yet they were sent to find and destroy Sauron. Like, what was the plan here? They get owned by a troll and yet are supposed to destroy the Dark Lord? Is Galadriel just gonna do everything again? Why even send them with her - just as cannon fodder and to slow her down? Not too mention what an awful commander she is. Ben hit the nail on the head when he said “you’ve got to give us some characters to actually care about”. That is the main problem with the show. It’s not the multi-cultural cast. It’s not even the changing of source material. By the first 2 hours of The Fellowship of the Ring we knew everyone we should care about, they had their own unique qualities that made them charismatic or unlikeable and we felt like we actually knew them. I mean, they made us think Gandalf was dead in the first movie and we cared a ton! Everyone in this show is like bland rice, I wouldn’t care either way what happened to them.
The only character I like so far is Elrond. Even when he remains undeveloped, I thought he was actually a little bit interesting just from his dialogue. Galadriel? Yeah not so much and man I'm worried what they're going to do with her

Because race swapping white heterosexual men, and even some white heterosexual women, is fine. Specially the older they were created as it is 'noble' to 'adapt it for modern audiences' (even if the original works are just as popular today as they were then). But don't you dare swapping any other race or having actors pretending to be someone else. That is a stretch too far.
They are perfectly happy to have all non-white's for Moana as voice actors or for the new Aladdin or Mulan movies, to be "authentic". But suddenly authenticity doesn't matter when dealing with Frozen or Little Mermaid (remake).
I've been a lifelong reader of Tolkien especially The Lord of the Rings and it's prequel 'the Silmarillion' as a lad it took me many readings of the Silmarillion to really grasp many of it's characters ,it's depths and the beauty of this wonderful story. The Silmarillion amplifies and gives foundation to the Lord of the Rings. It really boils my bladder that they cannot let the whole masterpiece alone, they feel the need to pervert it and it proves that these so called 'writers ' cannot write their own story so they ride on JRRT's coat tails because of greed and the 'built in audience ' they see a cash cow with toy deals and all sorts of offshoots, and they also see the opportunity to talk to the non traditional fans of the whole Lord of the Rings movies. A chance to pervert their thinking into the woke agenda. As for the real Tolkien nerds - we are bumps in their way, so they call us names and try talking down to us so that we hopefully shut up. Because we're in their way especially since Christopher Tolkien passed away who could see what people were trying to do to his father's ( and his own) legacy and masterpiece. To me this big money tv series is trash, a third grader could write a better story. These toddlers need to know that you can't improve or repaint a Rembrandt with their silly crayons.

They really did make Galadrial into Eowyn. ROP Galadriels actress looks extremly close to Eowyn, and their costuming and character desing make Galadrial look extremely human which doesnt help at all. Especially because all that makes Galadriel a elf in ROP is having pointy ears.

Watching the Trilogy now is somehow even more impressive knowing it was made in the early 2000’s. As time goes on its legacy only grows! All things considered, and seen as a collective (as it was shot) it might very well be the greatest film of all time.
Most definitely. When The Fellowship released in theaters in 2001 I was absolutely blown away! I’d never seen anything like it before and I’m not sure I’ve seen anything quite as good since. The theater cut was great but the extended edition is on another level. Hollywood unfortunately hires “talent” based not on merit or skill anymore but on characteristics that conform to the Hive-mind.

The thing about eowyn in the novel is the fact that she didn't kill the witch king all by herself it was prophecy that he would die by no man and still she had to get the help of others like Pippin and others to make sure that she stabs him in the face and after that whole thing she was kinda screwed up by all of this so she decided to be a shield maiden to help others in pain and then after that she married too
She did it due to the prophecy , she wasn't a badass guyladriel crap but was learning to defend herself in the novel and woman in tolkein verse are good and feminine and loyal

I would also say the a key missing signature is that Tolkien grew up in a time of war and experienced its effects first hand. You can feel it in his writing. He is not just writing about a conflict, he is reflecting on his own experiences.
Yes. I've always seen the "time that is given us" speech as coming from a place of potential despair, in the middle of a destructive war, but the speaker chooses to Stoically choose the best path available instead.
Tolkien hated war and didn't have one description of a battle in any of his books - those were entirely inventions of Hollywood for the movies. His son literally hates the movies bc of this. You don't know what you're talking about.
That is a good point. But I would be careful with that because Tolkien famously hated allegory and just wanted to share his imaginitive language, world, mythology and people with the world.

Found it amusing that literally a couple of minutes into the prologue we had a bunch of elf boys bullying Galadriel and mocking her abilities to set the stage for the series. Tolkein more than any other writer of his time appeared to respect females in his works and portrayed them as brave and capable, often going into battle alongside the men, especially in the Silmarillion. And yet these woke writers seem to be implying that elven society is really patriarchal with nobody willing to take Galadriel seriously and that the story needs to be about this single strong womxn overcoming all this patriarchy to prove herself and teach us all a lesson.

I don't know... when you compare the two troll fights, the original series to this snow troll, you see how bad this one really is. The original troll fight in Moria in Fellowship was so incredibly well done. You felt the stakes. All party members were trying to take it down and some even got hit but kept desperately fighting and trying to protect Frodo at the same time. It was a monumentally difficult task and a fight to the death. Compare that to wonder woman flying in from a sword toss to kneecap and instantly KO the snow troll single-handedly that just took out 5 dudes. It so stupid I'm sorry. The fight was indeed very bad. But the fact that Galadriel is defeating the troll single handedly isn't stupid at all. She is one of the Eldar and saw the light of the 2 trees and therefore one of the most powerful elves ever. The Elves of the first Age were basically super heroes compared to the elves from the third age. One Elf even 1v1 the lord of the Balrogs in the Fall of Gondolin so Galadriel should be easy able to handle a troll.
But the sword jumping and the overall choreography were still terrible.

I was not underwhelmed. I was heartbroken. They took the lifetime works of Tolkien and decided to strip out beating heart of it, throw in some random characters to check boxes. Diversity elves and Dwarves are not a thing. They literally do not exist. Galadriel's brother died honorably fighting a werewolf, not in battle... so why the revenge plot. She was also married to Celeborn right now. And her daughter Celebrian should be around... Harfoots are just Hobbits and they shouldn't be in this story. Unless maybe as the briefest cameo. Tar-Miriel and Galadriel never met. Etc. Etc. Etc. Also Celeborn shouldn't look older than Galadriel. They did all this to say "Tolkien is ours now" and they rewrote his history and had the audacity to put a line like "you've been told many lies about middle-earth" in the trailer and a lyric from one trailer that said "speak your truth" which is a phrase Tolkien would have thoroughly detested as a devout catholic pre-postmodernism.

This is taking place in Valinor, the Undying Lands, which is a paradise where absolutely no violence was allowed and elves lived in perpetual bliss. This was before Kinslaying, but the show forgot about that anyway, so it never happened there.
Also, I heard that elves were actually carving living trees in this show. That would be the same elves who revere and protect trees.

My mother read me ALL the Tolkien books when I was 8-10yrs old. Rather than turning on the TV she would sit me down at night and read me a chapter. I was to young to read them myself but I loved her reading them to me and the story. When I was a teenager I read them myself and I understood them better. While fantasy the books and story teach you about evil vs good. They teach you about friendship, being a good friend, taking care of others, to never quit and many other positive themes. That was 40yrs ago and now my mother is gone. I am very happy she read them to me and they were the first books she did read me. This RoP series is soooo bad, none of the original themes are there. Amazon should be very ashamed of themselves. It is absolutely awful.

The big issue with introducing multi-racial elements is that Tolkien (who was English) wrote it as if it was a fantasy world based in medieval Europe. There are humans of divergent colored skin in other parts of the world just look at the Haradrim who rode the Oliphaunts in Return of the King. People who live on the same continent in the same areas tend to share the same complexion and it feels forced because it is forced diversity for virtue signaling and they are hoping that that will be enough for people to love, cause their writers can barely put together a proper sentence. There was so much promise in a LOTR spinoff but to have it, the fans, and Tolkien's memory destroyed and insulted by Amazon so they can try and look good is just disappointing and shameful.

I introduced my wife to LOTR last year, we have been looking for something similar since then. Of course, I saw the trailers and read about Rings of Power and was against defiling my fond memory of Tolkien's books and the Jackson Trilogy, anyway, so my wife suggested we give it a try. We couldn't even get through the first episode it was soooo cringey and irritating, the dialogue, the characters and the overpowered strong woman who is never wrong. It's so transparent how it's forced and trying to imitate something from 2001 that didn't even have the technology we have today. Total trash, oh and goodluck to those of you who want to give a bad review on IMBD, it will be declined.

Galadriel goes on to be one of the more powerful of the Elves, especially after getting Nenya.
The same kind of thing happened after Mel Gibson's "The Passion Of The Christ." Before that point Hollywood didn't really respect the draw of any movie based on biblical accounts....until Mel Gibson shocked them with an incredibly successful movie that wasn't even written in English! After that Hollywood decided to get a hold of other biblical accounts and just butcher them. Noah's flood was turned into some sort of 'climate change' and 'an intense need to save animals from going extinct' themed nonsense instead of divine wrath at the wickedness of the world. They just want to take whatever was successful and get it into their own hands under their own control and are too stupid to realise they just gutted the very thing that made that success a success in the first place.
I'm not a Christian. In fact, I'm an atheist. But I am being one hundred percent straight when I say that Mel Gibson's The Passion is an absolute masterwork, a stunning piece of art, and an incredible telling of that story. A really remarkable film.

I think you hit the nail on the head here, I simply had no interest watching the first 2 episodes because through 2 HOURS they didn't give me a reason for the show to exist.

call me crazy but I find that the single point of Isildur keeping the ring is what makes the original story so damn good... as a young person it was one of the first stories I read that showed that kind of complexity of characters. we grow up as small children with simple stories of good and evil but in the real world sometimes the ones you think are purest or those closest to you end up betraying you. the original trilogy has deep moral overtones and framework, it is a combination of poetry and philosophy back dropped by a deep fantastical history of a place easily imagined, and thus easily loved.
To me it aint suprising, that Isildur kept the ring, when in start of the movie it said 9 rings were given to race of men who out of all crave power the most and so the rings got hold in Isildur, while his heroic warrior to cut out Sauron finger. He still cant resist his will to rule, when the ring gives it to him, while Elrond shouted that you need to drop the ring, so thats why in the Rivndeel meeting they decided that no man is given the ring, because they for sure cant resist its power and be abel to drop it in lava of Mount Doom in Mordor, so thats why they pick Hobbit to go drop it in Mount Doom, because from all diffrent races. Hobbits have need for power least from all, when they have not much intrest in power at all, so are small beings living in shire minding own business, but for sure the ring still can get hold on Hobbits, while not as strong as it gets on race of men, so thats why Frodo refused to drop it in the last movie, but luckly Smeagul jumped in and so Frodo pushed Smeagul to the lava with the ring, so the the ring got destroid after Smeagul death.
That's why Boromir was a perfectly written character. He represented the duality of humans. He was not a evil person, his behavior was simply influenced by circumstances. He had good intentions followed by the wrong actions. He didn't even have that much screen time and yet has way more depth than every character in this shitshow.

Tolkien is very black and white. Good vs evil. But each character in the universe struggles in the grey area between. Its easier to fall than to rise up.

Remembering that Gandalf is also argubly more powerful then her in Lore given hes essencially an Angel in Tolkiens universe that too makes you wonder.

The elves in Tolkien are ethereal, transcendent beings. The elves in this show are like elves from The Witcher; just humans with pointy ears and just as petty. Someone even calls them "knife ears" at one point, which is a derogatory term from the Dragon Age games.

It’s way deeper. Galadriel is basically Mother Earth, the divine feminine, soft and precious but “stronger than the pillars of the earth”. Like water , soft but at the same time the strongest force on earth. Cate Blanchett in her white dress , walked up barefoot to Dol Guldur and wiped out her opponent’s with one dismissive hand wave. Soo elegant but lethal at the same time . She doesn’t have to have masculine features to show her strength and her worth… this new Galadriel is basically a guy. Guy-ladriel. That’s the way modern feminism works … push away all inherently feminine and make them men and deny there’s difference and deny there’s a divinity in femininity that can create and sustain life which is exclusive to the feminine. I just find it mind-blowing that THIS is progress to them.

My favorite scene its when Sam gives frodo the last drops of water and fordo says "you leave nothing left for the return journey" and Sam replies " I don't think there will be a return Journey Mr Frodo" in that moment you realize that Sam always knew they're gonna die in this journey but he never told anything to Frodo .
The opening prologue in lotr is just... Amazing. Still remember to this day when i sat in the movie theatre and it started like that.... You were blown away. BLOWN! and ended with a cliffhanger that ppl talked about for a year... :D (those that havnt read the books) all in all, just amazing... now... that unique world they could have build upon is getting destroyed.

Pippin's entire character is a good message. He's literally the fuck up. Nobody likes him, he messes plans up all the time, he fiddles with things even though he was told not to, but in the end those things led to the victory at Mordor. His entire character's theme is that it's okay to make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes lead to the best overall outcomes. Frodo and Sam couldn't have made it to Mordor without half the shit Pippin did on accident.

It’s not even the changing of source material. By the first 2 hours of The Fellowship of the Ring we knew everyone we should care about, they had their own unique qualities that made them charismatic or unlikeable and we felt like we actually knew them. I mean, they made us think Gandalf was dead in the first movie and we cared a ton! Everyone in this show is like bland rice, I wouldn’t care either way what happened to them.
The only character I like so far is Elrond. Even when he remains undeveloped, I thought he was actually a little bit interesting just from his dialogue. Galadriel? Yeah not so much and man I'm worried what they're going to do with her

I've been a lifelong reader of Tolkien especially The Lord of the Rings and it's prequel 'the Silmarillion' as a lad it took me many readings of the Silmarillion to really grasp many of it's characters ,it's depths and the beauty of this wonderful story. The Silmarillion amplifies and gives foundation to the Lord of the Rings. It really boils my bladder that they cannot let the whole masterpiece alone, they feel the need to pervert it and it proves that these so called 'writers ' cannot write their own story so they ride on JRRT's coat tails because of greed and the 'built in audience ' they see a cash cow with toy deals and all sorts of offshoots, and they also see the opportunity to talk to the non traditional fans of the whole Lord of the Rings movies. A chance to pervert their thinking into the woke agenda. As for the real Tolkien nerds - we are bumps in their way, so they call us names and try talking down to us so that we hopefully shut up. Because we're in their way especially since Christopher Tolkien passed away who could see what people were trying to do to his father's ( and his own) legacy and masterpiece. They really did make Galadrial into Eowyn. ROP Galadriels actress looks extremly close to Eowyn, and their costuming and character desing make Galadrial look extremely human which doesnt help at all. Especially because all that makes Galadriel a elf in ROP is having pointy ears.

Watching the Trilogy now is somehow even more impressive knowing it was made in the early 2000’s. As time goes on its legacy only grows! All things considered, and seen as a collective (as it was shot) it might very well be the greatest film of all time.

Most definitely. When The Fellowship released in theaters in 2001 I was absolutely blown away! I’d never seen anything like it before and I’m not sure I’ve seen anything quite as good since.
The theater cut was great but the extended edition is on another level. Hollywood unfortunately hires “talent” based not on merit or skill anymore but on characteristics that conform to the Hive-mind.
