Good shout on the tyre lever for tapping the bearings out. I'm baffled as to why you wouldn't take 60 seconds to take the bottom triple free off the forks though. My F650GS twin bearings lasted an amazing 25,000 miles before giving up. The bottom bearing was rusted to buggery, BMW should have put a proper grease seal down there.

Thanks for the vid. A 4mm punch works really well for removing the bottom bearing. Great tip on the freezer.

All Balls Racing makes a replacement set of bearings part # 22-1044 for less than $25 USD. I can't attest to the quality but they're probably as good as the BMW bearings.

Hey, thanks a lot for the video!, out of curiosity:
    1. how many miles/km did the bearings last?
    2. why where you saying they where crap? (the original BMW ones)
    3. did you got any NGK, Koyo bearings that replace the OEM ones?.
    Thanks a lot :)

How do you know the steering head bearings are bad? What are the symptoms?

hey man. i just got some new bearings to do this. great video. i feel much more prepared about doing this myself now. i'm curious what temperature you heated the bearings to in the oven? ha! great idea. i just don't want to over due it.
i have a 2010 with 20xxx and my bearings have an extremely bad hitch in them as i pass the handlebars through being straight. it has made for some pretty uncomfortable cornering situations. thanks BMW!

Hello Thanks for your video. I have a F700gs 2013. Do you know where can I buy my bearings? Or what is the model? Thank you.

Sir I had a problem after changing the bearing and assembling it back again
The lock is jammed, and the handlebar is stuck on the left.i don't know what to do and if these two things had any relationship.
    I can't unlock the bike

Also, a fleet owner adds grease fittings c 3 cm below the top and above the bottom race. Greases every 10k km until great exits the dust seals and no more problems till the motorcycles are sold at 60-100k km.
His bearings typically fail 20-40k km, at which time he adds the grease fittings (and new bearings, of course)

Just done mine didn't take any plastic or ign switch off though. Wish I'd seen the 2 holes under bottom yoke mind. Had to grind the bottom race till it cracked and shifted
