The Maltese public needs to learn to distinguish between Dr Metsola´s role as Parlament president (which would make it easier to understand if her role would be described as Parliament Speaker and not President) where she needs to accept decisions taken perhaps even contrary to her opinions and her personal opinion as a Maltese MEP. My feeling is that many Maltese have not understood this and somehow expect her to run the EU as a Maltese MEP.
