The miracle of the Axis Shock is both beautiful and sad. Beautiful because it avoided a tragedy beyond measure... and sad, because the cost said miracle came at was terribly high indeed. I can half-imagine Bright just holding his breath, hoping to see the Nu Gundam come shooting out of the rainbow... and it never did. This piece really does encapsulate Amuro's most heroic, final act for a world that didn't appreciate him as anything more than an accomplished killer, a gundam pilot, an engineer... and ultimately, a hero who inspired even his enemies to respect him and do the right thing.
More so when you see Amuro grown from a kid that yells "Why do I have to pilot that thing? I don't even want to be here!" To "Everybody STAY BACK! Don't get any closer!"
When I was first watched this as a kid, I didn’t want to believe Amuro and Char died since I was so attached to these characters but as I got older, I realized this was a perfect end to their story.
You know, as someone who saw CCA for the first time, I can't help but feel that the scene this song accompanies (alongside the end credits, where it plays over the first half) is just a fitting end to Tomino's tenure with the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise in general: Tomino and Sunrise helped kickstart the "Real Robot" genre of anime with Mobile Suit Gundam. Then, they refined it with Zeta. Through all these works, the main message was how humans need to grasp a better understanding of eachother, if we are to put the horrors of war behind us. Char's Counterattack, which ends with Char and Amuro dying as the latter pushes Axis back with the power of the psycho-frame, is Tomino passing on the franchise and its main message to the next generation of Japanese Animators so the themes and messages he introduced could be built on in future shows and OVAs. EDIT: And then Tomino said "You know what? I AM GONNA DO IT AGAIN!", resulting in F91 and Victory. Hoo boy.... At least he also did Turn A before leaving the franchise for good... Which he didn't, because he directed the 14th main TV show, Reconguista in G.

Kamille is probably not the best example to use here as a 'sacrifice', sorry. He recovered from his temporary sanity loss during Gundam ZZ and never lost it in the New Translation trilogy of films. But ultimately yes, war is indeed hell as this and other anime titles have taught us.
@@David315842 i honestly think that giving an happy end to Kamille was pretty anticlimatic. Zeta ending was for me the pinacle of war philosophy in animation. Brutal and tragic.
@@PauloHenrique-kz1cq Either way Kamille has his happy ending. Either at the end of the New Translation trilogy straight away or in Gundam Double Zeta, he gets it. That was my point.

He did perpetuate the cycle of war once more though.
In the end a lot of people died to change absolutely nothing.

戦いの果てに微かに芽生えたアムロが信じた人間の可能性。それと同時に多くの犠牲を払い結局何も残らない、そして繰り返してまた犠牲になる戦争の果ての虚しさも感じる。

The more you look back on CCA the better it gets. Legendary movie!

Still kinda sucks thinking about the fact that they’re both dead.
It shows bravery to end your two most popular characters. But I think it's perfect that they did so. Best possible end.
Still baffles me how Amuro died confused
Just sheer flabergastion that Char said that Lalah is like a mother to him

Don’t let your past influence the future too much. That was a lesson Amuro and Char only learned at the very end. Don’t let hatred control you.
This is like what Buddha said. It seems that Buddhism exists deep within the Japanese mind.
