FVSU with the W. The instructor shouldn’t be out there giving out tempos in a showcase or battle. SCSU’s snares came with heat but FVSU was more well put together as a whole line.

If this is a judged event it’s straight up unsportsmanlike. At some point the kids have to do their thing themselves.

The notes were more mature like at 9:16 mark, but still provided a groove that was nice to listen to! State is back! S/O to valley though. Y’all were bumping foreal! That conversation between the basses and tenors at 10:36 mark was next level. Good shit! Love this for drum culture! ✊🏾💯

Maybe some folks just didn’t understand what was being played based on their exposure to certain rhythms. Doesn’t take away from the clarity that was showed. So I would have to disagree with you there. I feel like they both had greatly written pieces that were pleasing to the ear. Again I just feel it is an overall style convo. Most people raised on the Meac side(lack of better words) would edge state. Most people raised on the Swac style(bumping) would edge FV. This was not a landslide by any means. Both lines brought it for sure. Again just my opinion🤷🏾♂️

The general musical clarity is more what I’m referring to tho and at that point I’d say it could just be a matter of opinion based on stylistic differences
@@knockerz3140 I agree. I will say, though the video quality is great, S/O my boy A1. Being there was a different feel. I was standing next to state a foot from their tonals. Their compositions were immaculate in person. The basses were the real stars though. Those tonal runs were damn near flawless! Everything blended so well. Only argument I will give is Fv snares being a little cleaner. They got some dogs over there for sure. I would put them against any Swac style line and most Meac style lines lol. Overall i stand behind the style preference being a major contributor of who sees who won! 🤷🏾♂️

@@1.explanxtion the problem I see in these types of battles are some people actually understand whats being put on the heads (both lines are playing quality material) and others only see a style thats closely relates to what they're familiar with or what they perceive as more technical or superior to the other. Definitely hate when people overlook quality notes because of tuning or style preference.

-FVSU had a better presentation and was better visually and were A LOT more uniform. -SCSU played harder music and tuned bass drums are always better and more cool and showcases more skill. Thus again, SCSU played harder music though they lacked uniformity. Stick heights were all over the place. Thus, these are some of the strength and weakness of both lines.

Maybe it’s me or the recording but every section in SCSU wasn’t carrying equal weight, basses and snares were carrying tenors and quints were filling thing out but not really playing anything from what I could hear or see. Cymbals on both sides did their jobs, emphasizing hits and giving the grooves their feels

@Hbcubandreport Respectfully, that Angle doesn't really work in this scenario, I can hear EVERYTHING I heard in person & more. If we're being honest I can hear more blemishes on the recording than you could hear in that gym because of the focus of the mic setup.

It’s the non Judged portion, if an instructor or tech was to go go out and keep tempo during the show (like how scsu instructor is doing) they would be disqualified… so again. Have you been to a lot and do you really know how scores and judging work?

If you are a percussionist, you can see SCSU was far better, BUT if you play the drums…FVSU will be your pick. FVSU was good and groovey, but their cadences are very elementary. Just my opinion! SCSU btw

Even taking stylistic difference out. SCSU was not anywhere close to the clarity fv showed up with. The musical passage came through way better.
