I had just gotten out of the Air Force two days before this concert and I learned that one of my best friends had bought me a ticket to surprise me with when I returned to my hometown in South Jersey. It's probably the best memory of my life, to go from being stationed in Texas to sitting in the Spectrum at a Led Zeppelin concert in a matter of a couple of days.

Oh my god I love watching this !! I can imagine the excitement of the first timers from the Philly area seeing these guys for the first time back then. In those times if you didn't catch them on stage then you didn't see them at all....no movies or TV appearances in 75. The four of them are like gods to me, I know its foolish but I'm a 53 year old fanboy and proud of it. Thanks so much for posting this incredible footage.

Nice piece of Zep history, and great editing work! I saw the boys several days prior to this concert, at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. It's interesting to note that when the band segways into "Sick Again," the audience is unfamiliar with that song- keep in mind Physical Graffiti had not yet been released, and would not be for several months still. I remember before seeing them at Nassau reading all the hype about a new song called "Kashmir" that they would be debuting for audiences, and when I heard it, I was blown away.

Even with the bootleg quality i always find the guitar tone much thinker and ballsy from audience recordings. Sonically just sounds more pleasing than dry soundboard boots. Def does Jimmy’s loose style no favors when it is that dry. Seems like if you were there live it’s a whole different sound quality.

This is the show where Robert Plant beat a bouncer up for abusing fans. The bouncer was injured and swore vengeance, so Zeppelin's crew threw him out and gave him some more punches. Doubt the bouncer listened to much Led Zeppelin after that! Ian Gillan has also been known to beat out at overzealous bouncers.

Citation needed. Robert Plant is not the violent type and if any sort of interaction happened between him and a bouncer it would likely be verbal.

@@ledzepfilm: I first read the story in Hammer..., which has been called less-than-accurate, but other accounts have come to light since. Page was considering using his twin-necked guitar to knock the goon down, but Plant used the cheaper mic-stand. I checked with Bing - the incident did happen. EDIT: No sign of a mic-stand on this (very good) video. Maybe he used the mic-lead as a flogging implement!

@@AlexAlexon3897 Yeah, I recall an account of Page giving the guard a dirty look, but I'm not sure if Robert would've resorted to physical force like that. Maybe a gesture of some sort, but who knows - I wasn't there!

@@ledzepfilm: Sorry to get all philosophical, but you don't have to be a violent person to use violence as a means of rescue. I wouldn't think less of RP if he did crown the guy. Ian Gillan still does it when necessary. Phil Lynott did it in Glasgow!

Yes it is Philadelphia. Plant even says it.

Led Zeppelin could have benefited by adding a rhythm guitarist. Jimmy Page is always trying to do too much and it shows.

Hi, I'm not sure ... With a second guitarist adding a constant layer of rhythm guitar, there would be no space left for the drums and bass to breathe. And that's as integral to their sound to me as the guitar. For example during the extended solo in Over the Hills and Far Away, I would in no way want a second guitar to disturb that thick drums-and-bass groove. I think the overall live arrangements of the songs are just right.

If you actually saw them live, you would think differently....live, the 4 together were more than enough to fill the room with greatness
