A tale of to many chefs (Generals) spoiling the plain regularly Turtle Soup (made by Meade)
Grant all the disobedient Core Commanders kept muddying the soup by not following Meade's orders
Meade knew his job as well as Lee did his, but Grant and Sheridan seems to be less experienced and unable to see the big picture
Meade like Patton knew speed was the essence on a battle field, Grant tried like Montgomery to stir the pot by pushing forward
Sheridan seems to have a 'Bomber Harris' mentality by going after the civilians with 12000 cavalry men and not after Lee's positions
Price paid by the Army of the Potomac: 55000 dead, wounded, captured and missing. Lee's losses?

Thanks. My layman’s point of view: Gen. Meade had the proverbial “bad” press - only some of it his own doing. Any reversal - Gen. Meade. Victories - Gen. Grant. Oh. Sorry. You got to it at the end.

Meade only survived at Gettysburg just imagine if he had to fight Lee without Grant to oversee things.
