How to fold your shirts like the US Navy

  • Folding T-shirts is a common practice for several reasons:
Organization: Folding T-shirts neatly allows for better organization within drawers or closets. When T-shirts are folded uniformly, it's easier to see and access each shirt, making it simpler to find the one you want to wear without rummaging through a pile.
Space-saving: Folding T-shirts efficiently can save space in drawers or shelves. By folding them neatly and stacking them vertically, you can maximize the use of available storage space, especially in smaller living areas where space is limited.
Preventing wrinkles: Folding T-shirts properly helps prevent wrinkles. By folding along the seams and smoothing out any creases, you can minimize the risk of wrinkles forming while the shirts are stored. This ensures that your T-shirts remain presentable and ready to wear without needing to be ironed every time.
Preservation: Folding T-shirts instead of hanging them can help preserve their shape and elasticity. Hanging T-shirts for extended periods can cause stretching along the shoulders or misshaping due to gravity. Folding them allows the fabric to rest evenly without strain, prolonging the lifespan of the garment.
Travel: Folded T-shirts are convenient for travel. They can be easily packed into suitcases or bags without taking up too much space. Additionally, when properly folded, T-shirts are less likely to wrinkle during transit, keeping them looking fresh upon arrival at your destination.
Overall, folding T-shirts is a practical way to maintain organization, save space, preserve garment quality, and simplify wardrobe management both at home and while traveling.

That's a terrible way to fold a t-shirt. The goal should be a perfect collar, not one folded in half. Look to hi-end department stores for the proper way to fold clothing.

no way is better than the Navy way, and As for Department stores the way they fold their clothes only benefits sales, we've all done it, picked up a store folded shirt and what does it do? Becomes unfolded, a freaking mess in your hand, this is done for one to display the shirt and two make you have to screw with the shirt longer than you need. Both of these reasons push sales. The fold in the collar STEP 6 looks good upon opening, complementary when unfolded matter fact. Now for collared shirts we don't fold them like this but another way which is on my channel also.

My sister joined the navy in the late 90s. After I graduated from high school in 2000, I spent a few weeks visiting her. Folding my shirts, rolling my clothes for travel, and using military time. That is what I learned that summer from her. Skills I'm still using.

the crease in the t-shirt STEP 6 looks good when unfolded, this is why we flip the shirt, that fold goes inward making the collar press against the neck, making for a better looking neck line. The Navy has thought of everything

I took a 21 day cruise and on day 14, the staff gave everyone on our floor a small laundry bag and said whatever you can fit in this bag we will do a complimentary wash , sanitize and dry .. I was able to fit like 20 t shirts in that bag using a similar method. Long story short, they weren’t very happy 😂😂😂
