His fingerings? He played a lot of octaves 1-3 and some even with 1-2. Is that advisable? Or he just has huge hands?

1-2 octaves not really. As for 1-3 it's tricky, because you have to move your fingers more and can give headaches.
I use rarely 1-3.

I have really big hands, i can reach a 12th, i like to use 1-3 in the left hand on black keys during chromatic octaves, in the right i use 1-4. I can comfortably reach an octave, even a 10th with 1-2. But i personally wouldn't really do it

I watched 5 other videos of this etude and its amazing how different each pianist performance is. Completely different techniques too. His A section is too fast and not clear enough even with questionable notes. His middle section is good.
