  • After getting sober, Richie Bones' entire perspective on life changed. And as his life changed, his body did as well thanks to the many tattoos he added. There are layers upon layers to Richie's collection, including a great deal of heavy blackwork. In this video Richie shares his journey through life and through being heavily inked.
Welcome to Heavily Inked. In our newest series, we're going to speak one-on-one with tattoo collectors and artists about what it means to be a heavily inked person. We'll get deep as we go through the motivations behind their tattoo choices, the way they've been treated in society and much more.

Yep! Been feeling like this for about over year now and even though I am 29, I had to tell my parents it's best to let me live my life, as long as I am not committing crimes then I am good and they act that way now towards what I tell them I want to do in my life and it has nothing to do with tattoos, yet my parents would recommend no tattoos but that never got made about it or really said anything even thought it's below my sleeves.
Felt the need to express myself and maybe help out others, just be cool and try to talk to your parents, let the family act like adults about it.

      No Regerts!
no need to keep regurgitating that. The pain. The trauma. The judgment
When we regret we're just regurgitating pain over and over again and it keeps us from being Present. And Moving Forward

"Look in the mirror and ask 'evolve or remain' " This is such a brilliant quote. On Monday I was diagnosed with a spine deformity (scoliosis) and on Friday I had a neck and back tattoo booked in. I had that exact moment Richie spoke of and didn't know whether or not to go ahead with the tattoo because it would draw more attention to my messed up shoulders. But I decided to fuck all my worries off, now I have the start of a beautiful back piece and I couldn't be happier.
Aside from this, Richie just has some great insights. A lot of people could help themselves listening to this chap.

It breaks my heart that his family doesn't accept him, I'm mum of 2 and Nan to 2 and I'd always be proud if he were my son. Not because or in spite of the ink, but because he's an amazing person with a deep soul that I have raised and is a part of me 🖤 God bless you Sweetheart.

Before you speak about his family not accepting him, know the whole story. His bad behavior toward his family, his poor choices (not the tattoos), the way he treats others, and so much more, is the reason why HE chose to live his life the way he does and not have family support.

What many have forgotten in this "tattoos are cool man," time period is what tattooing once was. People earned tattoos. They couldn't whine and squirm, while they had bone needles jabbed/pounded into their skin. Getting tattooed was a badge of honor, growth, family line, tribe, social ranking, etc. It meant something. You couldn't buy it and you were marked for life as a part of that group. When you have the emotional, mental and/or spiritual growth that came with you earning your tattoos, you are changed. You getting it, you having it, you living with it, you being marked....you are never the same.

For my dad and I we still use tattoos to mark life events or something major that has happened in our lives. I despise when people just walk up to the wall and go "yeah I'll have that" like it's the dollar menu at McDonald's.

The bit where he said "have you had enough" and replying "yes"...choked me up and my eyes watered just because I really do understand and have felt that feeling. I had bad problems with alcohol and it was getting very out of hand to a very suicidal moment, two men "helped" me not doing what I was gunna do.. then the next day I find that they have stolen my purse, the same night they took me to a group of people I had been hanging out with in a pub and the group of people completely denied knowing me. At my worst moment of weakness and depression it felt like the biggest betrayal ever. My anxiety was super hightened and I was terrified of even letting someone sit next to me on the bus incase they robbed me, I didn't go out other then work and home, my hands would shake and I stopped using backpacks, changing it to handbags I can put in front of me.
It really was time to re-evaluate my life. I had tried stopping drinking before but failed numerous times but I had to try. I realised all my worst problems have been made by poor decisions whilst drunk.
It's been really hard and yet I still can't even go to a shop to get a non-alcoholic cider thing cuz it's all blended in with the actual alcohol and I have a hard time looking at it. BUT... Next week il be finally 2 months sober. The last time I was sober was when I didn't drink when I was about 18, the 1st month was surprising and now coming up to my 2nd month I feel really good about it.
It's still a challenge everyday but it's true, once you cut ties with the addictions and come over the worst everything starts working a bit clearer, like your mind and feelings.
Thanks dude for sharing your story, really touched my heart and made me feel not alone

    • @dankitz4353
      @dankitz4353 Год назад

Congratulations on becoming sober! I hope that you have continued your fight since you made this comment and that everything is alright. I'm sorry that you had that experience and that it lead you to feeling the way that you do about potentially being robbed. Your feelings are valid and are important. Please know that your bad experiences are not what define you. It's what you do after those experiences that makes you who you are. Your strength to keep going, despite all of the pain that you feel, is extremely inspiring to me. I hope that things are getting better and that you find a reason to smile today. Everyone deserves happiness, and you are no different. Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I hope that you have a great day. (To anyone who may read this, I also hope that you have a great day too. You are loved.) - A stranger on the internet.

I saw a guy with a full upper body suit in a gas station at like 6 years old, I don’t remember it well… but my mom tells me all the time how scared she was after I would NOT stop talking about this guy covered in tattoos. Then my mom got a tramp stamp. I was obsessed with it healing. I don’t remember that much either. But yep, freaked her out even more. Was an accomplished artist before I started tattooing, and yeah, was meant to be. Started tattooing in 05.

It’s amazing to see this especially bc I know rich in person this is exactly how he is he definitely not the one to put out a false persona

Solid blackout nose is crazy painful. Probably has to be the worst

How do these people not understand? The pain that they're trying to cope with through experience and expression we all experience. I've seen so many of these blackout videos and they all have the same understanding. They all come to it through incremental expression they believe gives them reprieve from the pain.
It never goes away. This is a part of life. No matter how many parts of your body you tattoo you are not your tattoos. We seek to have people see us the way we see ourselves and tattoos help that but its all bullshit.
Thats my two cents. Live your life and don't let people control you.
