- I'm not sure if I'm timely or not with this one. I pre-ordered it months ago as soon as it became available and finally got it yesterday, 1/4/2025. That's neither here nor there I guess. I have it now and couldn't be more excited. This is my second favorite Petra album and the heaviest of their 50 year existence. Originally released in 2003, this 31 minute audio assault grabs you from the opening riff and never lets go. Now, it's finally available on vinyl. So check out this unboxing as we open up this underrated classic and see what's Inside The Vinyl.
I'm on the fence on getting this. It has some good songs but to me the best era of Petra was from 1977 to the mid 90s, from Come and Join Us to Wake Up Call and to some extent No Doubt. They were spotty after the mid 90s. I also like the rerecords under Classic Petra with the 2 albums they did. The artwork was kind of plain. It makes you wonder where they had a new label and different line up if they were taking the idea from bands like AC/DC (Back in Black), Metallica (Black album) and others to use a style change to music with no keyboards and no solos as AC/DC had a new singer and Metallica had a less speed metal/less thrashy and more melodic approach.
Deluxe Edition missing ....with added Cardsleevebox, Trading Card and spanish version.
I thought I mentioned it, but I have no use for the Spanish version that comes with the deluxe edition. I bought the vinyl and the CD. I think my effort to support is pretty solid.
Petra's first album was recorded at Golden Voice Recording Company, Pekin, Illinois in 1974. As a student at Eastern Illinois University, newly saved in the Jesus Movement, I bought it immediately. It was a mixture of great and OK songs. Backsliding Blues was fabulous, but the vocal on Lucas McGraw was pretty bad.
@@reddrockingeezer I suggested the band to bring Lucas back on.their 50 tour and they did. It was so.much fun.
