Hilarious. $700USD, not enough channels for a full fat crawler, and an ageing DSM protocol. Speed run guys would be crazy not to look at the MT12 ELRS.
Perfect pass works better than this JONK. This isn't even an investment for us Speed run Gents. It's a waste of money, and it going to take weeks to learn. No detailed instructions, so you will spend 4 hours for a few runs adjusting this computer, LOL....
I saw the video when Spektrum released it..I actually own the DX6R and the DX5R..so When looking at the IXSR the control it self is way different but the raceware software seems very similar to what is on the DX6R.. The price is fine..it is cheaper than the 10px..think I may get this but I may wait to see if and what updates they do for RaceWare..
I’d like to see a transmitter that offers a “hotspot” cellular signal option and an optional cellular receiver that can piggyback off the user’s cellular service provider provided they have a wireless provider that supports a hotspot service. Useful for ultra long-range with FPV goggles… being an open format (android), I would say it is possible… Not saying it should be the only way it works because 2.4GHz has become a universal frequency (although optional switching to 990MHz would be nice). My initial thoughts: At the now common $700 price point, I do not currently see an advantage over the 7-channel 7PXR, 10PX, SWANA, or the others in that price range…. Not to mention, with the readily available RC8X (also open format), and Radio Master MT12, which is based on the LUAA programming protocol language. Model memory: 30 RC vehicles is more than adequate and if all of them are complicated in regard to programming and inhibit and condition triggered protocols, the memory needed would ideally be around 256Gb. Speed Running: Requires extreme range up to 5,000ft, so a feature to get a transmitter and receiver “boost signal” by simply selecting an option would be very nice… this feature would use a built in step up booster to generate 16V operating voltage from the transmitter, with a switchable feature also on the receiver to also run on up to 16v. The signal is bidirectional, so the receiver and transmitter should both use a boost in voltage to get a nice speedy response.
That would be interesting for some extreme long distance FPV control. It may only be a matter of time before something like this finds its way on to the market. Definitely agree that a really good range is needed for RC speed runs!
Have you had a chance to test range? I see a lot of features I like but some of those same features scare me. The bad thing about this being Android based is it will have a shelf life. Once this version of android is no longer supported the radio will be a paper weight. Also how future proof is it going to be? Does it have room for updates? It already take 30-45 seconds to boot up from what I am seeing, How slow is it going to be when the memory starts filling up? But if the range is comparable to the Radio Link or Radio Master I think I will give it a chance because of some of the other features. Anyway thanks for the great videos.
I have not tested range on this unit. I don't own one. I do however own the airplane version and love it. The ix14 has lots of room for updates. Never noticed a difference over ownership in load times. If my Samsung note 3 still works I'm sure my ix14 will work for a good decade.
I have an RC8X but has had glitching issues and not getting as advertised range and i have always wanted a DX6R but was never able to get one. And this new iXSR gave me an excuse to finally get a Spektrum radio and i also plan to get many new Arrma and Losi models in the future with this i will not have to replace the receivers with Radiolink or Futaba. The only thing i can take away from this new radio is that they don't include the 6 channel AVC receiver or give you the option to buy the radio only and pick out your own compatible receiver.
Hi bud, thanks for the video. I started looking into it myself yesterday. The price isn’t scaring me. It’s still just too new. To the market. Let them work the bugs out. If it performs like my IX 14, I think I will retire my RC 8X it is a lot to weigh out. Thanks again, New Jersey, kenny
How can you have a "frame rate" faster than about 4ms when driving servos?? p.s. I've seen the radiomaster tested at 4ms - how'd you come up with 12ms?
700 bucks for a useless tx. WOW, now this sounds like the Iphone. And some of you FOOLS are going to buy this JONK. I do Speed runs with perfect pass, no need for this, it quite useless. Again WOW!!!!
Spektrum need to earn back there loyal customer that bought the DX6R with a trade in program

No, not well priced at all. It is $1099 AUD here which is ridiculous.
This radio is priced at about $970 CAD. Very pricey indeed.
Price trumps everything!
Price is important for sure.
I have 63 models and just started hobby in 2020
That's a lot of models!

I totally agree with you
How about something g I dont need to strap a wifi booster and antenna to
Ya, this would be good
The only reason i bought the DX6R is for a GT Power Pro A60 that for Tamiya Semi

I personally need around 10 channel for my trx6 ultimate hauler but its Heavily modified with working bed and GT Power Pro A60

I have the RC8X too, no glitching for me so far. What's yours doing?
Newbie question....Does the receiver also transmit data to the hand-held device? If so, what data??
Telemetry data with the right equipment

Nice, if it doesn't have the range, I won't be able to retire other radios.
Your data on the MT12 is wrong
Express lrs is 1ms with 50miles range
This was right off of a listed spec.
