    After watching many of your vlogs, we were inspired to give motor homing a try. Last September we hired a van and explored the Dorset coast. This was the site at Corfe that finally convinced us to buy our own van. The location of this site is superb. If you can manage a few hills, then the walk into Corfe is well worth it. Especially on a lovely Summer evening.
    We arrived back home, and in October, placed an order for a new Burstner with expected delivery date of April 21. 11 months later and still awaiting delivery!
    As we watch the Summer slowly disappear at least we can still enjoy some sort of Motorhome life by watching all your vlogs. So many thanks for that.

    Had a great stay here for 4 nights at end on May. Purely by chance had the prime pitch no. 1 on left after the toilet block. Took the 20 mins walk to visit the castle on one day and steam train from the village to Swanage on another day. Yes the access is a bit narrow and bumpy, upon leaving met a delivery or builders van who took a bit of persuasion to realise I couldn't reverse my campervan as I had a small trailer on the back ! But overall a very enjoyable stay with great surroundings.

    We really enjoyed this vlog. I liked the timely reminder of the importance of checklists. I think it was one of your earlier videos that got us started and we now have two lists. One for when we are are provisioning the motorhome before setting off from home, and another when we are setting off after a stop along the way. I keep them on my phone which makes them really easy to use. It’s so easy to overlook things, the checklists are invaluable.

    We've stayed at this site four or five times in the past, the last time being in 2015. Towing a caravan for the first time there was a bit daunting, the approach lane hasn't changed since then! Beautiful area, and walking out of the site and up the hill rewards stunning views!

  • @TheADG001
    @TheADG001 3 года назад +2

    I stayed at Corfe Castle club site 2 years running a few years ago. I was new to towing and the lane up to the site filled me with dread. On the way out on my last day I met the post van coming. In and he was unwilling to reverse. I reversed my van back up to the entrance but after that I went to Norden Farm instead which is a non club site near the roundabout you parked in. Access is much easier. Watch out at Corfe if it rains - all that chalk turns into white mud - I was at the bottom of the site further down from where you pitched and it was very steep to get on and off the pitch. Sounds like I’m moaning but I loved the site and had a couple of great stays there - I definitely recommend the chip van!!!

    Enjoyed that Arriving At, although a bit scary. When you get to Morn Hill, choose the top site, near the office. The crows in the treetops down the bottom will really annoy and keep you awake! Shower block is newer down the bottom, though, but you can walk there from the top. Also, the main dog walk is down the bottom. Just a dog “pit stop” at the top.

    That was a bit of a hair raising trip! That farmer giles driving out into the road in front of you was astoundingly bad driving. There's a saying around here about Dorset farmers but I don't think You Tube would let me write it. He was true to form though. Nice area, which I haven't visited for a long time now as it gets so full of tourists when it warms up. Hi Bob & Jenny, Have you ever thought of (or already done) a video about the pros and cons and differences of having a motorhome towing a car and a car towing a caravan? Also, what made you choose the motorhome towing a car option? To me, it seems that if you want to park up, and use a car to get around, the caravan option seems just as good. I always look forward to seeing your videos, especially when I first bought my motorhome - really useful advice and tips. Thank you both (and Poppy)

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 года назад +2

      I've never owned a caravan so couldn't say what the pros and cons are. I know why I like towing a car with a motorhome though as that is one of the frequently asked questions:
      The main benefit of a motorhome is that it is a flexible vehicle. When we stay at sites for shows and we stay in one place for a week, we can. We tow a small car with us for that. No need to move, and this way it is much like a caravan. The car is then used for driving to and from the show and for going out.
      When we want to travel around, stopping over night at places, we can. We don't take the car with us for these tours. Great for touring Europe or Scotland.
      When we want to go out just for the day, we have everything with us, toilet, cooking, fridge and even our beds. Great for visiting museums and castles.
      A motorhome can be used for many purposes, towing a variety of trailers, a car, or a boat, or a box trailer or trailer with bikes, motorbikes.
      The best thing is that everything is self contained and you can never forget things when you go out in it!

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo

      Put a microphone in your caravan when you're towing and you'll understand. It is mostly the fridge, the blinds and anything that's not strapped down in a cupboard. We're used to it and it doesn't bother us.

    Why on earth does one need an awning on such large motorhome just for two?

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 года назад +4

      Because we want one and like having an awning. So we can sit under cover outside. So we don't have to keep putting our chairs away. So we can keep out of the drafts. So we can keep out of the sun. Loads of reasons!
