I regularly listen to The World and Everything in It and The Briefing by Albert Mohler. I also read the variety of newsletters World News Group produces each weekday. I appreciate their consistently Christian worldview. With those sources and Breakpoint commentaries, I feel well-informed on current events. I appreciate your perspective and recommendations.

The last several years, as I have turned closer to Christ than ever before, I have actually started to tune out most media. I am still aware of it, and listen to some of the people you mentioned here, but I find it to be a distraction. I realized wars on the other side of the world, national politics, even covid just did not effect my life all that much. And while I dismissed covid from February 2020 onwards, and it was worse than I thought, I never worried about it, and tried to live my life the same as always. If I can't control what goes on and if things have little impact on my life, there is really no point in wasting too much time on it.
This is not to say you just live in ignorance, but instead you listen just enough to from an opinion and move on. My opinions are probably the same as most here, but I don't let the news take over, nor do I get emotionally invested, there are better things I could be doing to help those around me, than to worry about events half a world away.
I also found there is often a reality to everything, most any war is perpetuated by 2 forms of evil, one may be lesser, but there is never the good guys vs bad guys the news tells us..even if you news disagrees with other sources who the "good guys" are. Most events get blown out of proportion, and we are pushed into to careing about things that really are not that important, maybe if you have friends and family near by you can take more of an interest, but if you can't do anything to help, then you may be better served to work on things you can help with, your friends and family, people you work with, let God figure out how best to resolve the things you have no control over.

3:47 - Hey Matthew in case you’re looking for that clip: How Should We Then Live video series here on RUclips - Part 10 / Final Choices around the 6:40 minute mark. Schaeffer is a profound influence on me and I always appreciate seeing you touch on his work. Just this week at a mens group we had this very discussion with some vastly different positions, so I appreciate your insight.

Real Climate Science (Tony Heller - though an old earther)
I greatly appreciate you, Brother Matthew. May the Lord keep you strong and at peace and in joy as you serve the King of kings.

I don’t know if I necessarily agree with trusting independent news because they are not “bought and paid” for. Things like the daily wire and TimCast have paying viewers through subscriptions, so they have chances for audience capture and sticking to what their constituents (basically their subscribers) pay to see. I don’t disagree with your points, however I’m not sure I agree either. Just a thought I had, thanks!

Hi, Pastor. I love your videos. Thank you for everything you are doing. If you happen to read this comment, I’m really curious about your views on voting. I don’t think you have a video about that, I could be wrong, but I find voting, for example, in the presidential election very difficult as a Christian (I’m PCA also). Lately I’ve been voting for parties rather than person to get the closest to the Christian view. I’ve also considered not voting at all. Again, it’s a very difficult thing. I’m curious of your thoughts on it.

8:00 --Matt, I would be weary of the Epoch times as they are affiliated with the Falun Gong, which is a new age religious movement based on Eastern Philosophy. They do offer some different perspectives from most American mainstream media sources, but it's still wise to proceed with a spirit of caution and prayerful discretion.

Great list & principles for how to determine sources. I would second Al Molher from the Briefing I think is the best in terms of combining biblical worldview with serious issues & news of the day.
Other good sources to add to this list from a Christian perspective:
    Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey
    Cooper Stuff
Off the Bench with Heidi St John
Matt Walsh & Michael Knowles shows from the dailywire along with Ben Shapiro
And then one of the mixed bag but has some good nuggets shows from a nonChristian perspective I would add is the Rubin Report.
And lastly a fairly straightforward one that I generally trust from a conservative perspective is Verdict with Ted Cruz
Again with all these, agree with the doubt everything & examine what’s said points in your video.

I like Erick Stakelbeck who appears on TBN news. I am NOT a fan of TBN but I listen to Erick's reporting on Isreal on RUclips. I agree totally about Jordan Peterson, his interviews are always insightful. He listens so carefully and pulls things from his interviews that are unexpected. Schaeffer was touring the universities with his How Should We Then Live teaching in the 70s and I got see him in Indianapolis once when he was there. He was very good at watching the culture trends and following them to their logical end and most all of his conclusions were spot on.

Peter santanello has a great you tube channel and great news documentaries on different cultures around the world. He did a series on the border that was fascinating. He's a non political reporter but he does let his guests give their views. He is not a Christian but does let Christians give their views and never belittles them. He has a new documentary every Saturday.

I gave up on watching and listening to news a while back. I read the Wall Street Journal online and also read (not watch) Daily Wire stories. I let the Guardian send me their daily email just to see their major headlines of the day and the daily "climate check" hysteria, which is amusing and infuriating at the same time.
My real issue is that I can't get any local news anymore, in the city where I live, and that's a huge problem. If you've cut the cable or satellite cord, and your local newspaper shut down and got replaced with an overpriced USA Today dressed up as your "local" newspaper (and I refuse to pay for that), what do you do for local news? Here in Oregon, our lords and masters suddenly decided that it's now legal for us to pump our own gas (which has been going on since July), and I didn't find out about it until the end of September. I'm all informed about world events and totally out of the loop here at home.
