Contax/ Yashica ‘mirror slip issue’. That’s probably what’s happening with the mirror lock up issue you describe around 6mins in. You may have come across this already, given that the video is a year old at the time of this comment, but I thought I’d mention it if anyone else comes across this and has a similar issue. Basically Contax/Yashica used a sort of double sided adhesive tape to hold the SLR mirror in its carriage. Over time, especially when exposed to heat, this adhesive can soften and cause the mirror to slip outwards. If it slips out far enough, the mirror will not go up fully and catch on the rear of your lens. That results in unexposed or partially exposed frames. I lost 3 rolls of Portra on an overseas trip because I only had the film processed after I returned. Costly mistake. So please check all Contax/Yashica camera for the issue and Google how you can do a DIY fix for it. Cheers!
I believe I have different issue from the way you described it where the mirror locks up wide open after pressing the shutter, it's very strange and only happens sometimes when shooting
These look great! I have several rolls of superia that I got on sale last year but haven't tried yet. Also really interesting to hear your brief thoughts on ultramax. Going to check out that video now! I've only shot ultramax once and didn't really enjoy it, but I want to give it another go
My local film lab does digital scanning for me on their expensive scanners, although if you shoot a lot of film it could be worth buying your own scanner perhaps?
Yes/No - because I’m not made of money, I only get compressed .jpg scans so there’s not much data to edit - so I will make the minor adjustment here and there but that’s it.

Let me know how your rolls of superia go! It's such a fun one to shoot with 😃
Awesome, can't wait for your next few rolls of film ^_^... Absolutely love your film reviews.
me too! The next roles hopefully will be bangers!
Nice Yashica... I love this camera
Hello Daniel enjoyed the video. Can you tell me how much it cost to 36exposure film to developed just started
Your level of film nerd feels similar to my level of film nerd haha Enjoyed the video man!
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ayy! I just picked up an EOS3000 too!
Awesome! You’ll have so much fun with that one, but be careful with the lock (I’ve found that it switches modes sometimes in my camera bag)
@@DaniloAllen thanks for the tip!
Did you have your camera on the stock 400? Or did you over expose at all?
For all of the roles in this video I exposed at the rating of the stock I used. Only recently have I started exploring exposing +1 stop
Thanks for the vid. I have a Nikon EM camera. How would I convert the photos I take to digital?

Do you edit your scans when you get them from the lab?

Great vid 👍👍
Thanks 😊
