There are alot of fly tiers out there but in my opinion you and the feather bender are probably the best I have ever seen. Remarkable what you come up with. Your flys always look so clean and perfect. It took me 4 tries to get your glass shrimp pattern to look like yours but I finally nailed it. Your glass shrimp patterns are probably one of my favorites. They are so versatile not only for trout and I have incorporated this exact pattern on some of my smallmouth jigs and have had outstanding results. I tied the glass shrimp pattern in black and pink on a 1/4 ounce snooty jig head and the smallmouth destroy it at night. Damn fine pattern Coastfly!

Just subscribed and looking forward to replicating your beautiful flies down under in NZ. I think this latest one should fool a few fish on the Tongariro River. I was wondering who makes the fluro-tipped rubber legs as I haven't seen them before? Kindest Regards.

Mine are from the fly company but I’m not sure where they get them because they are a wholesale company and I can buy them because they are long time friends. 😅

Coastfly....I need some help. This past weekend I went trout fishing below a dam here in Tennessee. This particular area has brook, rainbow and brown trout in it. This area is a stocker trout stream meaning no native trout except a few small brook. Anyway, this area gets high fishing preasure for obvious reasons and my question is what would you use in this situation to increase your chances? All the locals in this area use that power bait artificial trout corn junk and I just assume not use it and use flys that I have tied. I am not much of a trout fishemrman because in my area we just have trout...waters are not cool enough. Yesterday I tried some dropper flys and nymphs with no luck. As far as I could tell there were no hatches visible above the water line. I would like to go back and master catching fish out of this high pressured area but do not have a clue. Do you think a very small blob fly would work? Because all the locals are using that artificial power bait stuff in yellow, Insuspect it resembles a piece of corn and that is what the fish are relating to. I did figure out that in this particualr area it is a very early morning bite. I got there about 45 minutes after daylight because it is a good drive for me but based on the fish I saw on peoples stringers, i caught the tail end of it. What would you do in this situation? I really dont want to resort to using that artificial junk....to me that is not true fly fishing and I would rather learn how to catch these fish on a fly I created. There were a few guys using fly rods but most were using spinning gear and using that yellow corn junk. Even the fly fisherman were using a strike indicator and using that corn bait. If you dont mind could you help me out with some ideas?
