  • In this video (webinar recording), I use a reference dataset and experimental data measured from a piezo ceramic ring to determine all the tensor piezo properties for the experimental sample.
**Do you have this problem? Then watch the video**
You would like to model your piezoelectric ceramic you will use for prototyping but…
    (1) You are ordering ceramics from a supplier that does not provide the entire datasheet
    (2) You notice that the ceramics you receive have different properties from the datasheet

Thank you very much for your work, this is a great information, I wish I had it when I was struggling with trying to match Chinese ceramics with modeling results !!!

Thank you for your work! Its very interesting. And do you simulate in Ansys? I`m interested in losses tangents. Can we trust to table data? Are there reliable experiment method for their founding?

Table data is for low power measurements. Piezo ceramic losses can increase 10x with power levels that are used in actual applications. A ceramic that has a 1000 quality factor on the impedance analyzer likely has as quality factor of 200 in the application.
I don't like ansys. I like COMSOL. I go over how to input ISOTROPIC losses briefly during the presentation using ADPL code.

Thank you very much for this video. Two questions: (1) The Mechanical Damping is added in "Piezoelectric Material 1" here while it was added as "Damping" in "Linear Elastic Material 1" in one of your previous video. Do they have the same effect? (2) How to adjust the polarization direction in COMSOL? Why we don't need to set the direction here in this sample? Thanks a lot and looking forward to your reply.

You need to add damping seperatley for piezo and non piezoelements (elastic). If you don't add it for piezo, then there is no damping on the piezo element, except the indirect damping through the elastic element (aluminum etc.).
You can adjust polarization by using defining a new coordinate system with opposite coordinates. Basically, duplicate the XZ coordinate, and assign "-1" to Z. Then create a new piezo material in the solid mechanics and assign the new coordinate system and the relevant geometry to that. That's it!

Thank you very much for the valuable video. I would like to ask you a question. I made a very similar simulation. I want to compute the impedance of PZT on a frequency range. Unfortunately I'm only managing to getting the real value of the current, but not the imaginary one. As a consequence i can't get the correct imaginary impedance (and also module and phase). Could you please give me an advice? Thank you in advance!

how to add Square wave voltage to pzt 5 in frequency study for inverse peizo operation ?

You can use a transient simulation for a square wave. Or manually add up the harmonic responses which the square wave consists of.
