Filter can actually be pretty sad. Jimin sings about how he would literally be anything people want him to be, to the point of erasing himself to "mold" a pretty lie and be loved (this is a direct reference to the song Fake Love and to his other solo song "Lie"). It can also be interpreted as him actually accepting that he isn’t just one thing that people told him to be and he actually is a human full of charms and surprises that can impress anyone with whatever they want The meaning we got from the performance was another one. At the beginning of his career he wanted to look manly and worked hard to act like a macho and stressed himself for being always at the top and appreciated. Then he learned how to embrace his true self and mix the palette (as he said in the lyrics), he wants to be true to himself and be whoever he wants without limits, so having both "feminine" and "masculine" features (as shown in the temporary tattoos he had on his hands pre-D2). And it's linked to the photoshoot in 2019 where he has a fake tattoo with the bigender sign on his arm. So he has so many filters and sides of him to show and with whom attract people When I first heard it, I was confused because the lyrics seemed to be saying the opposite of songs like Fake Love which are all about being true to yourself. But the lyrics can also be saying that a person has many sides and you can be different things at different times while still being true to yourself. Because MOTS 7 incorporates psychological themes and concepts I think Filter represents how Jimin has no control or has unwillingly given others permission to choose which parts (filters or personas) they like about him and ignore/disregard the ones they don’t like or deem “broken/damaged/or not up to standard” thus “choose your filter”, choose is a command, it’s not even a question, he’s stating that people will choose their opinions on him regardless of how hard he tries to impress everyone with different personalities(filters)-that’s my interpretation based on the concept of mots which is interconnected with mentality-personalities, eg., ego or shadow or persona for example!

Loved Jimin's filter with the mannequin! It fit the song and dancing with all those props requires so much skill that most dancers shy away from using them. Especially when Jimin is dancing so fast and there are multiple props with the scarves, hats, glasses! The only thing he had trouble with was the quick change, but I'm hoping he'll be able to do it one day! Maybe you can do the Introduction to Park Jimin 2022, from The Jimin video series. Whole videos trying to figure it out!! Haha!! But they always let us in on the secrets in the end!! The behind the scenes showed us that it was pre-recorded, so he was able to change his clothes during a cut in the scene. So much easier for him! 💜
I actually talked to a clothing designer about it a long time ago, and she pointed out all this stuff like the places where the fabric of the white suit moved in a way it shouldn't, betraying that the red was under it. I can't remember what else she said about tearaway clothes and such, but that fabric movement thing stuck with me. 😂

You asked about the one part where his voice was so low, and yes, that was him-he actually has a fairly deep growl, rasp to his voice when using his lower register-his voice is simply magical-almost ethereal. He even rapped with Suga at one time, although he is not a rapper, as we know-I guess it just proves that these talented 7 can do just about anything! Jimin is my bias, so I love everything he does, but his dancing abilities blows my mind-he is so graceful, disciplined & elegant, and the classical training he has stands him in good stead-he truly is something to watch when dancing.
Jimin is my bias as well - drawn to his dancing & his vocals. I loved his performance with Suga. If I am not mistaken, though, Jimin isn't very interested in "rapping," like V & JK are. (I know V had mentioned his interest, and JK is just really good at it - not sure of his "interest." LOL) When they "rap" for fun, Jimin always seems to go into "cute" mode, laughing & not seeming to take it seriously. BUT, when PERFORMING his rap seems to flow just fine. LOVE this man. His talents are off the charts.

Yes when you heard him speak he had a lower voice. That is not his speaking voice but he has a growl that is low and when he rapped in "Tony Montana" by Suga and with Suga he spoke with a lower voice. This was the better live of "Filter" even though the other gets more close ups you seem to want to tell the camera man to get out of the way the entire song. But along with "Lie" and "Serendipity" this week I do hope you consider doing "Tony Montana" it is actually one of Jimin's favorites as well.

It's the fastest bside by a kpop group to reach 300M in Spotify, it has 500k unit sales in US,, and the 2nd most streamed kpop bside in Spotify history (jk's euphoria is the first). It also entered billboard top 100. In Korean charts, it reached #2 in all charts,the #1 is the title track of the mots7 album which is ON. But my personal favorite is Lie by Jimin, lol. He has writing credits there, the song production is phenomenal, and the choreography plus Jimin's singing all perfectly blended together. I been in the business for years and if someone came to me and told me there were this many props in the number, I would tell them to get rid of most of them. Think of all the fumbles that could happen. I can't believe this man handles all the props like a champion. Anything at any time could go wrong but he pulls it off. AMAZING!
That low register "yeah" is Jimin. He has a beautiful low register and raspy tones. To choose between Filter mannequin dance and Singularity coat rack was a surprise. I wouldn't have thought about the comparison between the two since they are two different type of songs and performances. Its pretty hard to dance fast and smoothly while singing and changing clothes. Using props like that is difficult. Anyway i choose Filter since you asked.

One of his biggest strengths is also that the songs he writes are so different. Lie, Friends, Promise, Christmas Love. I think the bridge he wrote for Dis-ease might be a good representation of the types of melodies he writes. He often has very dramatic background vocals and adlibs in their studio recordings.

Been a longtime subscriber of yours but this is my first time commenting. Haha! Jimin with the mannequin, hands down! If you look into Filter's lyrics, you'll realize how cohesive everything is. Filter can mean those things we use to edit photos. On the other hand, it can also mean how you prefer to see things. Filter your view, in a sense. In the live performance, he changes clothes multiple times, like changing filters. "Which of me do you want?", the lyrics say. This references not only Jimin's duality, but his ability to show whatever you, the audience, want. This was reinforced with the line, "I can be your Genie. How about Aladdin?", he said I'll grant your wishes, take you to a whole new world. I particularly like the line, "Neither taste nor standards matter in front of me", because did you notice the mannequin had "feminine" clothes which he ended up wearing? Jimin easily blurs dichotomy of masculinity and femininity with his androgyny. He does this even in the song, listen to how his low and high registers were arranged. The bridge, where he referenced looking like a child who gets cuter the longer you look at him, it's so crazy, talks about his cute persona. Filter, in a way, is a sad song even with the upbeat tempo. People see him as a doll -- they choose a side that they want, and go with that filter/overlay. Masculine, feminine, child-like; cutie, sexy, lovely. You have no choice but to love him because customized the image of him according to your preferences -- filters. Lastly, for me, Filter showcases Jimin's versatility. No matter what filter you choose, he'll slay each and everyone of them. Jimin is so multifaceted and mutitalented, he has what you're looking for and be the best while at it, too. :) Oh btw John, may I ask that in the next reaction, can we do the doolset translation of the lyrics before the live performances? Jimin is my bias and this performance is one of my favourite solo performances, though I prefer the one with the red suit. If you’re interested in knowing what path Jimin will take for his solo album, I recommend watching the photobook teaser videos (there are 3 out by now, RM, JK, Jimin). I think Jimin with mannequin is difficult since he's dancing singing and changing clothes simultaneously but V with coat rack is creative though there's not much dancing with it. But obvs personal preference. Filter and Friends (also written amd produced by Jimin) are the only BTS solo songs nominated for Songs of the Year in Gaon Charts (now Circle Chart. Its like the Billboard of SKr) Awards. Filter was his concept and according to RM written by Jimin with all women co-writers. Jimin wrote Lie too and Serendipity was partly written by RM and he said Jimin tweaked it. Filter has now sold over 500k units in the US and is his third solo song to be eligible for RIAA Gold Certification in the US by crossing this mark in unit sales. There are only 4 BTS solo songs eligible for this certificatation Friends wss used as OST in Marvel film Eternals making him the first Korean idol to be featured in the credits of a Hollywood blockbuster film with a Korean song. Jimin didn’t write the song, but he came up with the concept and the song was written for him. From what he’s said about the process I think he could’ve gotten some credits, probably for production or composition if he wasn’t so humble. There are several other instances in their discography where he didn’t get his rightful credit. He apparently wrote parts of the melody for Blood, Sweat and Tears(Jin said so and the other guys didn’t speak against it), but the credits are nowhere to be found.

Filter have no official MV. The one you've watched is a fan made video ((FMV). And yes, the fan used some clips from the Wings short-film "Lie" in it. I love Filter, the latino vibe, and the lyrics, with multiple layers and meanings, as complex as Jimin himself. And this live performance from ON:E is mesmerizing : when MJ moves cross the magic arcanus of Jimin's voice... I trully love Bangtan and the 7 of them, and I think they are, all the 7, the most talented singers/rappers/dancers in this world, and I can listen to them and watch them all day , together or individually, without being boring. But Jimin is special, he has this little "magic touch". Not only his beautiful face, angelic voice, sexy body, and the way he moves or convey his emotions through his dance, eyes, facial exprssion, his hands and his whole body from the head to the toe. . I actually talked to a clothing designer about it a long time ago, and she pointed out all this stuff like the places where the fabric of the white suit moved in a way it shouldn't, betraying that the red was under it. I can't remember what else she said about tearaway clothes and such, but that fabric movement thing stuck with me. 😂

Yeeeei, let´s get into the Jimin effect!!! He is so cute out of the stage, but when he gets up there it is trully like he puts a spell on everybody. He is an amazing performer. You asked about the one part where his voice was so low, and yes, that was him-he actually has a fairly deep growl, rasp to his voice when using his lower register-his voice is simply magical-almost ethereal. He even rapped with Suga at one time, although he is not a rapper, as we know-I guess it just proves that these talented 7 can do just about anything! Jimin is my bias, so I love everything he does, but his dancing abilities blows my mind-he is so graceful, disciplined & elegant, and the classical training he has stands him in good stead-he truly is something to watch when dancing.
Jimin is my bias as well - drawn to his dancing & his vocals. I loved his performance with Suga. If I am not mistaken, though, Jimin isn't very interested in "rapping," like V & JK are. (I know V had mentioned his interest, and JK is just really good at it - not sure of his "interest." LOL) When they "rap" for fun, Jimin always seems to go into "cute" mode, laughing & not seeming to take it seriously. BUT, when PERFORMING his rap seems to flow just fine. LOVE this man. His talents are off the charts.

Yes when you heard him speak he had a lower voice. That is not his speaking voice but he has a growl that is low and when he rapped in "Tony Montana" by Suga and with Suga he spoke with a lower voice. This was the better live of "Filter" even though the other gets more close ups you seem to want to tell the camera man to get out of the way the entire song. But along with "Lie" and "Serendipity" this week I do hope you consider doing "Tony Montana" it is actually one of Jimin's favorites as well.

I been in the business for years and if someone came to me and told me there were this many props in the number, I would tell them to get rid of most of them. I wouldn't have thought about the comparison between the two since they are two different type of songs and performances. One of his biggest strengths is also that the songs he writes are so different. Lie, Friends, Promise, Christmas Love. I think the bridge he wrote for Dis-ease might be a good representation of the types of melodies he writes. He often has very dramatic background vocals and adlibs in their studio recordings.

Been a longtime subscriber of yours but this is my first time commenting. Haha! Jimin with the mannequin, hands down! If you look into Filter's lyrics, you'll realize how cohesive everything is.
Filter can mean those things we use to edit photos. On the other hand, it can also mean how you prefer to see things. Filter your view, in a sense.
In the live performance, he changes clothes multiple times, like changing filters. "Which of me do you want?", the lyrics say. This references not only Jimin's duality, but his ability to show whatever you, the audience, want. This was reinforced with the line, "I can be your Genie. How about Aladdin?", he said I'll grant your wishes, take you to a whole new world.
I particularly like the line, "Neither taste nor standards matter in front of me", because did you notice the mannequin had "feminine" clothes which he ended up wearing? Jimin easily blurs dichotomy of masculinity and femininity with his androgyny. He does this even in the song, listen to how his low and high registers were arranged.
The bridge, where he referenced looking like a child who gets cuter the longer you look at him, it's so crazy, talks about his cute persona.
Filter, in a way, is a sad song even with the upbeat tempo. People see him as a doll -- they choose a side that they want, and go with that filter/overlay. Masculine, feminine, child-like; cutie, sexy, lovely. You have no choice but to love him because customized the image of him according to your preferences -- filters.
Lastly, for me, Filter showcases Jimin's versatility. No matter what filter you choose, he'll slay each and everyone of them. Jimin is so multifaceted and mutitalented, he has what you're looking for and be the best while at it, too. :)

I think Jimin with mannequin is difficult since he's dancing singing and changing clothes simultaneously but V with coat rack is creative though there's not much dancing with it. But obvs personal preference.
Filter and Friends (also written amd produced by Jimin) are the only BTS solo songs nominated for Songs of the Year in Gaon Charts (now Circle Chart. Its like the Billboard of SKr) Awards. Filter was his concept and according to RM written by Jimin with all women co-writers.
Jimin wrote Lie too and Serendipity was partly written by RM and he said Jimin tweaked it.
Filter has now sold over 500k units in the US and is his third solo song to be eligible for RIAA Gold Certification in the US by crossing this mark in unit sales. There are only 4 BTS solo songs eligible for this certificatation
Friends wss used as OST in Marvel film Eternals making him the first Korean idol to be featured in the credits of a Hollywood blockbuster film with a Korean song.

Jimin didn’t write the song, but he came up with the concept and the song was written for him. From what he’s said about the process I think he could’ve gotten some credits, probably for production or composition if he wasn’t so humble. There are several other instances in their discography where he didn’t get his rightful credit. He apparently wrote parts of the melody for Blood, Sweat and Tears(Jin said so and the other guys didn’t speak against it), but the credits are nowhere to be found.
I was hoping you'd be watching the version where he was wearing burgundy since this has some closer shots which I feel has a better impact since the song talks about Jimin's many filters... how he's seen differently by different people. Filter have no official MV. The one you've watched is a fan made video ((FMV). And yes, the fan used some clips from the Wings short-film "Lie" in it. I love Filter, the latino vibe, and the lyrics, with multiple layers and meanings, as complex as Jimin himself. And this live performance from ON:E is mesmerizing : when MJ moves cross the magic arcanus of Jimin's voice... I trully love Bangtan and the 7 of them, and I think they are, all the 7, the most talented singers/rappers/dancers in this world, and I can listen to them and watch them all day , together or individually, without being boring. But Jimin is special, he has this little "magic touch". Not only his beautiful face, angelic voice, sexy body, and the way he moves or convey his emotions through his dance, eyes, facial exprssion, his hands and his whole body from the head to the toe. . But the way he can grab us by the soul and bring us in his own world, for a moment totally out of time and out of this world, when he performed on stage. That's what make him special. I dont have the word in english (witch his not my mother langage) to describe Jimin better than fascinating or mesmerizing .
