Watching again in 2024. I worked at Sausalito Multihulls in 1986 and we had dreams of this race in the bay. Its still so amazing after all these years.
That 17 boat turned on the speed at the very last moment of the regatta and impressed when every one had them dead and buried. Never underestimate a determined team.
It was revealed that Oracle had implemented a modification to their boat that was not disclosed to the race organizers. Great comeback but will remain a controversial win
@@seanomatopoeia i thin the nationality rules are good. Otherwise it's just a team of mercenaries and the side with the most money wood but the best sailors. And I think the AC75s look good. If it was a beauty contest they'd all be sailling J-class monohulls.
@@gontran8638 Langford is Aussie, he's the wing trimmer on the AUS Sail GP team now. Slingsby is AUS as well. Spithill is dual citizen (AUS/US). The Jib trimmer (Joe Newton) is also an Aussie. The grinders were 3 x Europeans and 2 x Kiwis and 1 x US. Ben Ainslie is British. So all in all one and a half American on USA17. There are a lot more American citizens on American Magic's Patriot in the latest cup, but the two helm are British (Goodison) and Australian (Slingsby).
it was clear that US after 8-1 for NZ made some change in the boat..maybe something not legal. It's the only reason for an impossible recovery. It was not an exploit but only a speed matter
they just stopped giving a fuck about the alarms for the charge on the wing and decided that they would fly a little less near the wind upwind to gain speed I think
Upwind Stability. Both were equally rocky until TNZ had matchpoint. The next day OTU are level as a pane of glass even in high seas. Very clearly they automated their foils and or rudders. Something AIRBUS would know all about. But still, that's the America's Cup. Possibly the LEAST sporting sports event in the world. In the America's Cup if you cheat and get away with it, it wasn't cheating. Im pretty sure all team understand that. What I know is BS is the WSJ story that Spithill decided last minute to sail low and fast instead of high and slow. That's an insult to sailors.
I have a pair of Slazenger gloves with the name Williams from this race, red, size XL, I found them just after the race on the pier, does anyone know who he is?
100% agree. I just don’t know how. But, yep, it makes no sense to me. It’s all just too much improvement with too little time. I remember back in the day it had something to do with the hydraulics? Anyway, yup. Bullshit.
This was by far the best americas cup! Awesome close racing and awesome camera work!
The greatest comeback in the history of all sport!

Great Job US Team!! At this level of competition with great teams you can never count the other side out!!!

Congrats Team ORACLE!!! Well done guys.
Absolutely incredible! 👏👏👏
GREAT JOB GUYS! MADE SAILING HISTORY!!!
Great coverage and great racing, thank you!
Great teamwork, I knew you guys could do it. Go USA!
Australian skipper. British tactician.
@@dundeedolphin Team USA win, stay mad.
Just come to this from watching the AC75s. These Cats now look quite ungainly in comparison.

22:14 did a porno sound track get subbed in, what is going on out there?
Yes. 22:18
We can listen a couple making sex in the boat near the competition or the speaker looked a porno during the match
That's one of the grinders on TNZ. Probably Rob Waddell, who is a total bad ass, haha
Fabulous racing! I'm still a bit curious as to why NZL didn't use their remaining Card for a restart. Sorry if this is a silly question.
Just saw this but NZL could only use their card before the race started. Once the race started there was no possiblity of playing the card.
Brilliant
Anyone have analysis of what allowed Oracle to suddenly find all that speed? Was it a technological advantage or simply learning to sail the boat?
they decided to stop caring about the limits engeneers gave them, they used full boat capacity + some upgrades that made them a bit lighter.
@@rbpt__4136so they cheated again?
It is odd to watch this in 2021. These AC72 cats seem so slow now.
they are also so ugly and bulky :-(
Thanks for uploading. Any chance of uploading AC 32 from Valencia please?
Good job Oracle!! Better boat speed and team work 👍
If only Australia had a team with James Spithill as skipper.
Apart from this event, he’s lost to the kiwis ever since
Sir ben ainslie is the secret sauce.
Incredible automatic stability upwind from Oracle.
Yes “incredible”
These boats are so much nicer to watch then the ones now
I could not agree less.
The AC72s are unbelievably ugly. Just like with the nationality rules in the early 2000s, NZ ruins the America's Cup.

How many Americans - if any - were on the crew of this boat? All Aussies?!

and I think they also changed the guy that was in charge of the wing, and also the strategist
The only thing that happened is that they got good and made kiwis cry
at 22:10 two people sound like they are celebrating early, or somethin, lol.
Compared to the 35th, the 34th was better in every respect
Apart from New Zealand winning ;)
Those early tacks when they had superior boat speed and should have just let the boat burn, cost Team New Zealand the last race.

Coming in 2021 with Foils - I cannot wait, it is going to be exciting to see them all compete in a new class.
There needs to be an iquirey into how nz lost this after being 7 up
they just didn't react
