Only one of the eyes on my Cathy's Curse slipcase was flashing when it arrived. I couldn't figure out a way to turn it off. The battery eventually gave up the ghost about a week later and it's completely dead now. Great job, Severin!
My copy arrived with the same dilemma. A fresh set of CR1220 batteries solved the problem and the green eyes function properly, for now.
DO NOT watch the Devil's Honey and the NY Ripper with Michelle! You will be on the couch for months. NY Ripper quack quack quack! 😅😅😅
Burial Ground is pretty insane. The mother-son dynamic is almost as creepy as the Zombies
It is insane but the whole rest of that movie is SO BORING! I had my laugh out loud moment at the uncomfortable stuff but that alone wasn't worth the time it took to watch the movie.
Maybe the battery is dead.
My only experience with Severin is The Changeling, and that transfer was terrible. Everybody looked like they had a severe sunburn or were raging alcoholics. Ended up getting the Second Sight release and they did a much better job.

Yeah, when I did my Cathy's Curse 4k review, I actually took apart the cover to show how it works, and to potentially fix the issue.

Id rather a movie be $10 less and no gimmicky light up feature. I find things like that useless. Same as you Ken I'm gonna use the $10 toward the Opera 4K. So with that $10 off it should only cost me $180

Most of the complaints about the Cathy's Curse LED slipbox is mainly about the batteries being completely drained. I did do a update video showing the LED lights working after I changed the batteries. It's on my Planet of the Vampires unboxing video in my channel.
You should grizzly and night of the demon from severin. Butcher baker nightmare Maker is a hidden gem.

Mine lights up fine. But I know these light up gimmicks always break down over time so I'm kind of prepared for mine to break. I'm more concerned with the movie itself and if the 4K scan looks good
man i hope i dont have to sell a kidney or take out a second mortgage to afford Opera its the only thing i want but the fact that they didnt give us the price when they made the announcement doesn't give me much hope
Very strange how it won’t light up. My copy lights fine but each eye gets out of sync with the other lol. One will be normal and the other flashing. My one piece of advice would be swipe like a credit card and make sure the chunky black part is near the back of the eyes. Otherwise, yes your slip could be broken.
The Great Alligator Excellent 4K transfer by Severin. Late 70s Alligator carnage. Fun cheesy creature feature. Barbara Bach & Claudio Cassinelli were great in this. Some fun practical alligator effects. Fun miniature and model designs. Nice cinematography in Sri Lanka. The 3rd act was bonkers in a good way reminded me a bit of the original Piranha (1978).
I can't even buy the Cathy's Curse box right now, so at least you have one, Ken :) I've heard if you change out the batteries it might work just fine, who knows though. It's a cluster and they should just make a standard slipcover for it at this point
Yes, my cover's LEDs had the same issue. A fresh set of CR1220 batteries has my cover lighting up properly.
Thing with Severin is that they feel the value is in the discs, they use their budget to get good extras, soundtracks, documentaries that they make themselves and that's where the cost comes in.
They've openly said they don't care about 'cardboard enthusiasts' and art cards are just a waste of everyone's time and money. A lot of their new standard releases don't even have slips.
Shame about the cathys curse slip but I don't think anyone's works how it should 😊

Is that Frankenhooker back there worth getting? Thats an older movie isn't it? I think I remember seeing that on Cinemax Friday After Dark back in the early 90s when i was a teenager.
I had the same issue as everyone else with the Cathy’s Curse eyes. Hearing and seeing that changing the batteries fixes it.
But I did reach out to them early on and they said they would send me another working slip but it could have cosmetic damage as they were out of them for sale.
It came, no damage, looks just as good as my first…still one eye out lol. Now I have two non-working.
So I guess I’ll fix them both and have an extra.
Just wish when they would do stuff like this they could do better QC.

BBNM is a all time sleeper fav of mine i think it's a cult film also with bo sevenson from 1970s walking tall fame. politically incorrect and it could never be remade today like blazing saddles but it really reflects the era that it was made in.

Buriel Ground is a really creepy bad movie. A lot of cringe. I picked up Four Flies from Severin as a damaged item but it only had a very slight flaw on the slip. It was in the clearance section.

Did you buy the light up slip case and the movie separately? When mine came the case was empty with no movie inside and mine the eyes would just blink none stop. I think when I made the purchase made the mistake of just buying the slipcase and perhaps the 4k is sold separately I am not sure. Unfortunately for me I got so mad I just threw the slipcase away instead going back and buying the 4k separately I guess I didn't think of it. Oh well Cathy's curse just wasn't meant to be for me unfortunately

I knew as soon as I saw that gimmicky light up box set that they would have issues with them and stayed away. $10 is nothing really when their releases are as pricey as they are! It should’ve been whatever the difference between the regular release was.
Damn im starting to lose respect for Severin after this Cathy clown crap. 10 dollars does not makeup for this Severin.

You're not gonna like Burial Ground. For a while it was my and my friend's favorite zombie film. The zombies are decayed beyond belief and there's a scene towards the end that made it famous. The Devil's Honey is just a kinky movie. NY Ripper is a kinky giallo and very brutal kills. Butcher has nothing to do with dreams it's a psycho aunt and her nephew. Cathy's Curse is passable but you won't like it either. I have all of those films and I like them. Good unboxing and showing and cool video Ken!👉🙂👈

The Devil's Honey.... If you can get past the opening where some random dude pours himself a drink while a cig smoulders in an ash tray next to him, I'd love to know. I can't get past this on my blu-ray release of this.
