    I always recommend the Queen Mary to people traveling through that area. I got to spend the night on it once and it was absolutely amazing. Not only is it spooky, but it's just beautiful to see inside and out. It really feels like time travel. We snuck out of our room around 3am to explore and had a terrifying encounter with a supply closet door (that mind you had no door handle) creak open and then slam shut. I recommend exploring the outer decks at night if you can. I would go back in a heartbeat any time.

      @@nataliewilliams2622 yep its just like a hotel. You can book your stay. There's some rooms that are more well known to be haunted so those cost more, but we had a pretty big double room for about $250 a night. You can also add on a guided tour but we opted to just poke around ourselves. There's also a couple restaurants and a Starbucks on board as well. You could make a full week out of it and never have to leave the ship, plenty of activities.

    I've had my own ghost encounter on the Queen Mary! I was on the main bridge of the ship with the controls near the captain's quarters. I was with my dad that day when I was looking at the displays while my dad stayed outside the room on the deck. There was one about ghostly reports of footsteps on the bridge of a man people believe to be a captain of the ship. Someone came into the room and walked up *right* behind me while I was reading this. Naturally, I thought it was my dad and joked 'spooky, huh?'. When I got no response, I turned and was surprised to find no one else was in the room with me. I did not stick around. lol XD

    I hate to break it to you, but Helltown is a state park now. Most of the buildings left past the closed roads were torn down and the roads were turned into walking paths. I went a couple years ago with a friend and there were 2 houses and a barn left, but the most recent time I went, the houses had been demolished and the barn is in serious disrepair. Also the bus doesn’t exist 😂😅

    Reminds me of the ghost story of my own hometown.
    Back in the 80's, they built a new building about two streets from my door that was meant to house school children that come to the coast on excursions or other tourists that travel in big groups. Unfortunately, on the day the opening was planned, we had a pretty heavy storm in the region and the opening ceremony had to get cancelled. The kids who were meant to use the building for the very first time arrived and got ushered in without much celebration instead and they would have to spend most of their weekend cooped up in there, because the storm made it impossible to do any kind of excursions outdoors. One of them must have gotten bored or something, because he snuck out in the evening and got lost in a town he wasn't familiar with under terrible weather conditions. No one really knows what happened to him, but he wound up washed ashore on the beachline, dead from drowning. The death was labeled an accident and the building was put out of commission for a while, but it had a reopening a few months later. Locals kept insisting that there was something 'off' about the adjacent alleyway that lead to the building. They felt uneasy walking through it at night and claimed that it was haunted. Personally, I've been through that alleyway hundreds of times and never saw or felt anything special, even in the middle of night. It was just an average looking, boring old alleyway. As far as I could tell, nothing special about it, but some locals kept insisting that that boy's spirit haunted it. It was most likely made up local hogwash. We'll never really know now, because it got renovated 2 years ago. The alleway was removed and the adjacent building was torn down and a new and bigger apartment complex now stands in its place.

    Northeast Oklahoma, most of the woods there have paranormal activity. I lived in the middle of nowhere there for 3 years. Things I witnessed while living there were crazy! ⅓ of the experiences I had while there still scare me to this day! I go visit my foster family there every few years, but I don't go or stop there at night and would never stay the night! Something is there, throughout the woods that hangs on and is hard to get rid of... it's hard to explain!

    The old infamously haunted Toys R Us of Sunnyvale, CA is true. I recall staying home sick from school and my mom and I went to that specific store during the day. As in, all kids were in school during this; the store was super empty. We split up and I go check out the action figures when I pass by a toy construction truck that suddenly turns on by itself. I mean, music, noises, everything. It startles me in the silence and I check it out but quickly move on. I didn't think much of it as a kid, but when I got older, I remembered that truck could only make noise if you pushed its buttons... There's my experience lol

      That store was in an Unsolved Mysteries episode and I still remember it vividly. They had the photos, I think there were 2, of what looked like a thin young man leaning against a shelf. Their story was that when the land was a farm, he was a field hand who loved a young lady. Unfortunately, he had an accident and hit his leg with an axe. He could not stop the bleeding and died out. Amazing story!

      Pretty sure that kind of thing can be caused by malfunctions. Or literal bugs or many mundane things. I use to live in a....more shitty apartment than now and one night my TV / pc monitor turned on. Remote was lost ages ago so had to use buttons. Scared me pretty bad as I was just drifting off to sleep at the time. Eventually I came to the conclusion that a roach had got inside it n just ran over the right thing to turn it on. After pest control did their thing it never happened again.

    • @patriciahayes7315

      @@mjrchapin I heard that story. As you say, the ghost in question was a young farm hand who was madly in love with a girl his age and desperately wanted to impress her. So he worked harder and longer at his chores until one day he accidentally slashed one of his legs with an ax he was using to chop wood. He bled to death from the wound and began haunting the locale, still doing his chores and not realizing he was dead. Since Toys 'R Us went out of business several years ago, I wonder if that particular store in Sunnyvale, CA is still standing or if it was torn down to make way for something else. Does anyone know?

    The ship was absolutely gorgeous and the crew, fantastic!
    I've always been sensitive to spirits and I felt nothing there or at least the section that I hung around. I went everywhere I could including the pool. I believe allot of spirit activity came after she was at permanent port.

    Hospitals and funeral homes are far more likely to be haunted than modern day cemeteries. My belief is that embalming and modern day practices end a natural process of decay and therefore if there is anything supernatural that occurs at death that is left behind, it would be in places where natural decay took place and where the body was in it's most natural state of death.

    Lol oh the crazy stories surrounding Helltown (Peninsula) Ohio. I wouldn’t recommend anyone visit because you can’t just drive up to the town. You have to park your car I believe a mile or so outside of the gate and walk to the town and it’s not exactly safe. If you do visit, go in a group and be sure to bring something to protect yourself because you can’t just hop in your car and go if something were to go down.
    There’s also an explanation found online as to why the town was abandoned and it’s not that mysterious.

    "There are reports of black masses."
    Uh, no, 'African American' masses.
    "all decked out in his 19th century uniform."
    Well, 'civil war era'. The uniform of the U.S. Army (as well the other branches) changed several times during that century, as well the following.
    "as well, it's said that the hospital was built on cursed ground."
    And the plumbing always clogged, and it was hard to get good service, and jello with your meal.

    Why have the picture of an old white lady to accompany the story of an old black lady ?

    • @KristiLEvans1
      @KristiLEvans1 2 года назад +1

      Because few photos of ANY of them existed, and Henriette (pictured), daughter of John Wesley Hunt, was closest to Ma’am Bette or Aunt Betty, as Henriette’s many children called Bouviette James. Henriette out-survived at least a few of her kids, and at the time of this photo would have likely been the last living link, in the house, to Ma’am Bette, who died five years after the Civil War.

      Not everything is about race. This was glass-negative photography and it was fairly new, and rare, especially during and in the aftermath of the war. And I dare say, there weren’t a lot of portrait artists nor the money or time to pay them during or after the war, either. Consider the time. It wasn’t 1970, but 1870.

    • @jaytay8637
      @jaytay8637 2 года назад

      @@KristiLEvans1 I am totally aware of these facts but the photos are often completely unrelated to the narrative, just indicative of it. It would have been very easy to show a picture of and elderly black lady of that era as that is what the whole story was about. I have many myself, my mother-in-law being African and indeed some such pics.were used in this story.
      I am aware 'not everything is about race' but I am confused about what you mean by this remark. If a picture of a black woman had been used to illustrate a very interesting, well told story of a white woman my point would be immediately clear.

    • @jaytay8637
      @jaytay8637 2 года назад

      @@KristiLEvans1 Many pics of black people of that era exist, I myself have a collection. My question was simply why tell a very interesting story about a black woman and illustrate it with a picture of a white one ? Can you imagine the incongruity of the reverse ?

    • @KristiLEvans1
      @KristiLEvans1 2 года назад

      @@jaytay8637 wait. What? So, a picture of the last living link to the very subject of the story, in the very house she lived in, is irrelevant because of color. And a random picture of an unrelated black woman, from who-knows-where, of whatever age, SHOULD have been used, even though it would be absolutely misleading? That’s illogical at an extreme level. The narrator would have to stop the story to explain the inexplicable picture, then go back to telling the story. You can’t lead people to believe that a random photo is an authentic picture of a historical person, whose memory lives to this day. That’s an insult to Bouviette on about a dozen levels.
