Fly Tying: Strengthen Peacock Herl with a Dubbing Loop

One of several ways to strengthen Peacock Herl bodies. Using a dubbing loop of tying thread or wire and a Cal Bird Dubbing Tool, you can create a 'chenille' made of Peacock Herl. This gives the Peacock Herl greater durability and longevity.

Where can I purchase a dubbing tool like that? What is the name of this tool and who makes it?

They are Cal Bird Dubbing Tools. I'm not sure they are available anymore. Wasatch makes a similar one. Dr. Slick also makes a similar 'hook,' except with a shorter handle.
