I will share my impressions from my first games with the Edson destroyer. Let me say at the beginning what I will say at the end; Edson is not a game changing destroyer. However, it is definitely effective. I can say that it is difficult to play with him. I think that for an effective Edson game, you need to be an advanced level destroyer. We can think of this like Tromp and Alvaro de Bazan. Although we see many of these destroyers in Tier 10 Random matches, it is rare to see a successful game. Because they are difficult destroyers to play. I know that Edson has nothing to do with the destroyers I mentioned, I gave this example because it is difficult to play. Let's continue.
We can't say that it is very fast. Its maneuverability is average. Its acceleration met my needs, I didn't check the numbers but I found it good. It is definitely a different and unique ship. Many people may not find what they want when they get this destroyer. Because this is not a ship that can deal instant damage.
I can say that with this ship, hitting any enemy ship with a torpedo is a complete torture and almost impossible. Because it has such a small torpedo cone, it is more difficult than threading a thin needle. Especially when it is moving, it becomes a mess. To be honest, in the few games I have played with Edson, I have not been able to hit anyone with a torpedo yet. I think War Gaming should give a special Elite Medal to the one who does. The bad thing is that when you try to hit it with a torpedo, the risk of sinking it with enemy salvos is quite high. You will only be hitting two torpedoes anyway. I don't think it's worth it for now. It has incredibly bad torpedo angles. The worst torpedo angles in the game right now. I mean, even worse torpedo angles than Zao...
Is Edson fun to play with? I think it's fun, I can say I like it. Is it an OP ship? No, I don't think so. Air Defense is not at a significant point. Now I'll leave you alone with the games.
