I'll tell you exactly why Paramount is putting The Quiet Place on streaming in 4 weeks and announcing it now. They think it will increase subscribers to Paramount + in time for their quarterly investors' call. They think it will still make enough profit to impress investors so if they can also pull off a subscriber increase it may lead to a stock price increase and that is the main thing executives at Paramount care about because that's how they get paid. Much like when Emmerich and Tsujihara refused to delay Justice League because it would have affected their bonuses, executives are willing to sacrifice their product in order to make a quick buck to fatten their own bank accounts. It's stupidity, greed, and the desire for short-term gains no matter the long-term consequences.
@@ChaseSchleich yeah. As much as we recoil at how bad it is for the individual film's box office, pundits and viewers have to concede that studios will occasionally sacrifice a "big draw" movie's cinematic run to drive possible streaming subscribers.

Would it not be a very stupid decision not to market Taylor Swift making an appearance in Deadpool? Like why hide it? The tickets are already selling out but imagine how many extra tickets will be sold if the Swifties knew Tay Tay was going to be in it?
@@jackisgreat925 well, we're assuming they wouldn't have another piece of marketing planned beforehand. It's not like other movies that may be struggling and need all the big draws out front, I think.
If she's in it, then word of mouth will spread quickly once the film is out. Not sure why taking the movie out of the theaters early hurts them. The theater makes more the longer the movie is there, it hurts them more. This way, they get more subscribers and the theaters take the hit.
@@wallyjackson9543 Last I heard, it is still a sliding scale. The longer a movie plays, the bigger percent they get. And you have to add what they get in subcribers/monthly. (Easy to say I am wrong without backing it up). ;)
Doesn't quite work that way. Think of it this way; the studio gets $70, Theater gets $30, for every $100 in ticket sales (thats average agreement with studios and theaters. there can be exceptions). So both theater and studio make more the longer it's in theaters. Now, when it comes to streaming services, not every movie or tv show guarantees getting new subscribers. Let's say if you have a million subscribers already paying a monthly subscription fee, and you add four or five movies to your subscription service and 10 tv shows that month, you're still making that same amount from those million subscribers and now you just paid money for those movie and tv shows to be added to your service for people to watch. Unless you get something on your streaming service that really grabs new people to sign up, you're fighting costs of content versus your monthly intake from subscriptions.
@GregScottBailey With the sliding profit scale (which I think still applies) and how little they make after a month of being out (especially for a movie like this), I just don't see them losing as much as they can gain with building their streaming. I really doubt after a month this movie is making anything significant/would be at the bottom of the charts by then. Either way, nice explaining of your ideas.
@@sirjonsmithiii992 With them announcing the movie will be available to buy at home after a month, it incentives the audience to wait until then instead of watching the movie today while it’s still early in theaters. Also most people aren’t gonna subscribe to a service just for one horror movie..
