Barrett, fantastic review! So many enthusiasts have wanted a non- sponsored, non biased 3rd party review and you delivered! Really appreciate you and what you do in this home theater RUclips space!
Great review, I have the exact same thoughts of getting these for the bed layers, the coaxial point source sounds fantastic, imaging is superb and timing is very good. I have ample subwoofers in the rooms so these should work perfectly well >100hz. Once again great review !! 🎉, thanjs
Great review, I’m actually in the process of getting a 9.3.4 set up from jtr & I plan on using these speakers for wides & side surrounds. I was wondering how they were with music but thanks to you, now I know. And yes you should do a music demo!
@SpecOfTech u know what your video came in time! I actually email Tony for a pair of 110 for my L & R weeks ago! ENDGAME SPEAKERS for HT! Thanks so much!
I have two Noesis 110s in my condo. I don't have a subwoofer because of shared walls, but these go low enough for me and can still feel the bass. Definitely endgame for me and have no desire to upgrade. Currently powering them with a Benchmark AHB2, considering a second AHB2.
I've had this exact thought, 7 or 9 of these (4 being angled) but ultimately they are too big for a non-dedicated room. Honestly this is how I'd design a speaker tho, coaxial for off axis, and high sensitivity with less bass because bookshelf speakers need a sub regardless in my mind.
It’s not Neosis, it’s “no EE sis”. Comes from the Greek word for silence, like “Noel”. Excellent review! I haven’t heard many people talking about these in a while, glad for the reminder they’re here.
Way too cool! great review! Seeing these, I wish I had this knowledge when I was building my HT. Using the 110's as the full bed layer with a couple good subs would be awesome! Consistent identical sound. I ended up mixing brands, not ideal.
It's never too late 😜. I know there are some big changes happening in the John house already anyway, maybe a JTR 110HT speaker system could be one of them.
Yo Barrett🤘🤘🤘 Nice review, as always. You should try the Hammramr 12. Same type of design, with a 12". High sesitivity, spl, powerhandling etc, -3db around 50 hz (I think).
@@SpecOfTech DIY, has some grear potential. I am going to make a infinite baffle sub from my old towers to suplement the two I have no. Never enough bass right? 🤪 (as long as it is precise and well integeated). The Hammramr is a bit above my budget, but I listened to them at a show last spring, and they are great. I have Monitor Audio Bronze 100 for my bedlayer, and I love them. The detail and clarity, and how they disapear and make my room disapear when listening to music in stereo, is just insane. Might be nice for you to try the Monitor Audio too🙊 My room is not huge though, 5,5 times 7 meters aprox. 😊
@@andreemilsen369 I would love to try Monitor Audio. they are a brand I have been curious about. I hope to one day make a connection to get some in my space.
16:05 Great review mate. I’m still puzzled by the “why” around the choice to engineer a speaker like this, big driver but doesn’t go lower. Only curious as my mains have 10” drivers and they go quite low so there is more flexibility with the crossover depending on your room . I’d love to hear JTR one day - I don’t know anyone down here with them.
Thanks brother. I believe JTR chose to keep the low end limited so they could achieve the stated 124db of output, while still remaining lower distortion. If they were to provide too much low end, the distortion would increase as they got louder. I also think part of it is because they are a speaker designed for surround duty, so they don't "technically" need a lot of low end if used as intended. I would love to hear your Krix system one day too. I'm really curious about their speakers. Maybe it's because we can't get them down here, you always want what you can't have lol. Thanks for watching buddy.
@@SpecOfTech thanks for the explanation brother. They look great and that makes sense. If u ever have a reason to come down here ur welcome always to come stay at my place :)
@@BuildMontage I would expect nothing less, you are always welcome at my place. I live close to the mountains, so it would be a great place for you to come check out.
SourcePoint10 SLAMS. Tremendous amount of midbass punch. Whips your standard 6-7” bookshelfs. They’re low distortion as well and are likewise tuned/built to maintain composure at higher levels, but they dont sacrifice bass the way 110HT does (much larger cabinet volume + ports). I’d do SP10 all day long over 110HT unless you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE the ridiculously high SPL. In fact, I’m trying to figure out how to upgrade my HT size from 12x14 to 16x18 so that I can use SP10 and SP8 all the way around. I’d create a false wall or columns at the sides & rear to make the SP10’s look like they’re flush. Plus they’re an open, airy, nicely detailed, exciting, spacious sounding speaker. I’d do SP888 for LCR, SP10 for sides & rears, and SP8 for heights & Center Height.
@@SpecOfTech agreed for HT. Most people have a mix use. Seems like it’s a tool designed for one thing. Can be use for music. I’m not sure the ease of use is there for a music and HT environment over similar priced alternatives
@@SpecOfTech wow.. sorry to bother you. Thanks for the correction. I have these as my surrounds, i hear clearly the coins from the Ready Player One and its super cool. They have such clarity for the movies. Never thought about using them as mains...
@@tkcdac No bother at all, no need to apologize. They are hard to beat for HT, that's for sure. Would be a great speaker to use for a 5 or 7 speaker bed layer.
@@arckanum332 Small, wooden box. One 10” speaker. Small amount of wire and a very basic crossover. Retail $1299. He’s making out like a bandit. Good for him.

Excellent review Barrett thanks! been waiting for this one! I may be ordering 4 of these early next year to replace my DIYSG surrounds.

Thanks Barrett! Wondering if JTR will ever make a 6" version for smaller home theater rooms to rival the ascendo "the 6" wedge?

Nice speakers. 10" Small for midbass. I don't think so, in my opinion that's ideal, but even for these you'd need quite a sizeable room.
I don't think it is small either, it's a great size for a HT speaker IMO.

You mentioned the lack of bass below 80Hz a few times. Wish you would have shown some frequency sweeps. Bet they sound good otherwise.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks for the suggestion.
Many JTR speakers have a quite narrow dispersion, I imagine these are likely wider which works well in small rooms.
Can we install them as in wall and use as in ceiling speakers?
Do you think an AVM70 would be able to EQ some of the high end harshness you speak of.
I have no doubt that Anthem Room Correction could help with that.
Can these be wall hung. And used as surrounds andvrears
They sure can, they have mounting brackets on the back. I show some footage of the back in this video, you can see the brackets there.
I have these as my surrounds. Use the 8 inch JTR as my ceiling. A bear to mount to the ceiling. Worth it though.
Did you test these with the receiver in stereo mode?
Yes, for music.
Can two of these carry 1 Funk Audio 24? 😮
haha, not too sure about that. I was getting 126DB at 8hz on the Funk LFE24 Ultra in my room if I remember correctly.
Definitely a tool type speaker. Can be great or lackluster. Better know what you are doing.
Even with just basic room calibration they should suit most home theaters TBH.
