Love it or hate it. Black Sails deserves as much attention as Game of Thrones did. For me, I had a great time watching all 4 seasons. So go check it out if you're a fan of pirates as well as GOT. 🏴☠️
Yea there were some odd things that happened like changing the characters sexuality for no reason. But it's definitely one of the most elite tv shows ever created

My assumption is that one of the reasons we don't see enough pirate-themed shows is the cost. They either have to build a set that gymbals to simulate naval combat, use extensive CGI, and/or film on actual ships; all of which can quickly balloon the budget of a TV show. One of the (many) reasons Black Sails was phenomenal is that its obvious they gave the show an actual budget.
It's a shame, because it's a fascinating period of time that gets very little attention. Personally, I'd love to see a movie or show based on the life of John Paul Jones.
yes i think u r correct, the limited interest audience alongside the huge budgets needed for the show dont make them a feasible risk for most studios
Another reason is people who fund series don't want anarchy portrayed in a good light.
@@metasamsara There are also book series about the Royal Navy that would be perfect material for a long running series, for example the Aubrey/Maturin series or the Hornblower series.
But the cost us always a problem. CGI oceans still look ridiculously fake, and there are so many ships that would not only have to be built or animated, but all these ships get shot into splinters throughout the serie. Plus there are so many locations, from Portsmouth to Australia.
I'd love to see a ling running show that is set on a ship and don't even care much if the good guys are pirates or the navy. But You simply cannot keep up the quality of Master and Commander throughout a long running show.
There was actually a mini series about Hornblower that was okay, but it was still visible that they didn't have the budget they would have needed to make it good.

Black Flag combined both real pirates and the ones in Treasure Island. That you should have mentioned. It's Treasure Island meets Black Beard, Ann Bonney, Charles Vane, Rackham, etc...

If this show is anything like Game of Thrones. You can expect blood-spilling violence, sexual nudity and a whole lot of cursing. And another GOT trait is that in Black Sails, it can seem like there are no good guys or bad guys. Just people looking out for themselves. So go check it out. It's great!
Black Sails should be the standard. Best series I've seen second to Peaky Blinders.

Lol that's a good one, I'm not too sure probably cuz I'm not very good at not making my voice sounding not monotone and i might actually have had a cold then. But the video is pretty old, it would be appreciated if you could watch one of my new videos from this week and let me know if u think the audio is any better. I bought a new mic and amp system, so I'm hoping it sounds less depressed lol

I love how Blackbeard's outfit in Our Flag means Death is a parody of Charles Vane's ridiculous anachronistic biker outfit in Black Sails. 😂
I really hate the costume design of Black Sails, it's so all over the place. Some costumes look like they are from renaissance, some are way too modern, too much black, and everybody is wearing heavy boots all the time. In the Carribbean. Looks more like Halloween costumes than a high budget TV show.

It bothers me how short Blackbeard is on Lost Pirate kingdom. I guess he isn't short he's average height, but they hired a taller man to be black Caesar who is with him which makes him look shorter. You can't have someone under 6 feet be Blackbeard, the guy was like 6'5" or 6'6" his massive height was part of what made him so menacing. Like half the actors in the show are his height or taller.
Its also kind silly the way he screams BlAcKBeArd. It just made me laugh wasn't very menacing.
Piarates helped found the USA. They helped defeat the British navy in New Orleans. It's kind of a pirate nation.
