I was never a fan of Kpop because for me groups are all the same, same music, same concept.. but when I started checking out Red Velvet, i immediately got hook with their music and unique concepts. I had the same thinking with you. My girlfriend is a K-pop fan. She has a lot of merch in our house, I also heard a lot of K-pop songs and I looked at them as groups doing cute things. I saw a pic of Seulgi just two weeks ago. I searched who is she and listened to Psycho then Bad Boy. I felt like they're a different group. They looked mature and cool and their music is just my taste.

They do have Seulgi’s outfit to tie it together i guess.
I think was to make Irene standout as she is the Visual of the group. Note that all the girls are visuals, it's just that it's the literal role she was given since RV debuted. I think Irene's outfit would feel more cohesive with the rest of the group if their stylist had made Irene wear red accessories. For example if her hat had been in the same blood red color as Wendy's outfit or had her wear red boots. It would work better making her seem part the group. Then again stylists in kpop have been notorious for making one member wear an outfit that is either ugly compared to what the rest of the members were given to wear a la Wendy's red plaid dress during the Peek a boo era, that made her look like a child. Or they choose to given one members more special attention then her group makes. For example look at the comment section of BP first few comebacks/debut as the fans noticed Jennie was always given better outfits then the rest of BP. This is just something that happens in kpop.
