Modern country artists should be ashamed of themselves, I don't even like country music but this here is true country music folks. Someday it'll come back.
To Shanna Bol-Agreed on th at. Today's country is a joke. Can anyone tell me the nam e of the movie this video clip came from? The one guy in t hat clip looks like Joe Nama th.
When I was 15, my new boyfriend used my Mom's guitar and sang this song for her! It was a hit and my parents loved him, married him. had a wonderful daughter! I love this song!
Id pay to see someone in 2020 come up with something HALF this good(Sawyer brown the race is on.) Its disgusting the way shit changes. To me people lost sight of what life is really about. They spend life looking for acceptance and trying to be the #1 in anything or everything and that mostly consists of them taking endless hours and filtering the reality or truth behind things to be seen as something other then whats there? Question mark as i beleive if you love your life and the things you do you take pride in an love your family and friends , the things, people, place, or the events in life are "ONCE IN A LIFE TIME" therefore good ole old times are made and told through the people that made them = legends are created they have stories not a repertoire of useless save data that is all posed for/ fake as they use it for not the same purpose. My personal opinion this is. Therefore people will feel differently. I get that i dont post this for people to comment on telling me im wrong out of line. Im 24 years old born with no fingers and that made me see things differently and i early on focusd on behavior and i havent ever stopped. Its a deep feeling because i cant confirm that most anything that passes through my thoughts has any relevance and its constant. Didnt mean to write all my personal shit on here i just made the comment cause i felt passionate aboyt tthe thruth in the fact musicians lost standards and are now abusing the "wealth" too many ppl kill it to get out the gate fame n fan base but most seem to gain the fame then begin to do their own thing, or what's more comfortable
They started climbing the charts in 84 I believe. I know Alabama was still considered the number 1 country band in the world. I saw them live with Alabama, Reba, Eddie rabbit, n Eddy Raven!! Man back in the day when concerts started at noon and you were dancing n partying into the night on an open field!
I may be too young to have a opinion but as a highschooler I think all older music, Alabama, Johnny Cash, Sawyer Brown, George straight, is the best country ever.
That's Joe Namath!! I loved that guy when I was a young teen!He is such a cutie! Ex AFL NY Jets!(Also played for Alabama Crimson Tide when Bear Bryant coached! (NFL St Louis Cardinals also drafted him before the Jets!) Also in this video is Ann-Margaret! Wow,I never saw this movie. Need to look and see if I can find it on Net Flix somehow! Great song by the way! That's how I found this video.I love the song. :-) Have a great day everyone!
Isn't it nice that this song is so popular that more than one version has been made? I like Sawyer Brown's version; you like George Jone's version - we can both be happy. BTW, I listen to country a lot and I first heard this song as sung by George Jones on a "new" country station. George Jones is a classic. He will never be replaced. There's plenty of room for everyone.
Thank-you Roopak, ( by the way nice handle ), this song is a terrific song and I have heard it done by so many artists. Charlie Pride... maybe , Mojo Nixon . Thanks again.
These boys played my small town county fair in Washington State in their hay day apparently and I'm trying to figure out when that was. If anyone saw Sawyer Brown at the Pierce County Fair in Graham, Washington back in the day. Give me a holler :)
of the thousands of home made videos i have watched in all genres of music this is easily the best i have seen so far the timing was perfect though out the video tank you for taking the time to do it right
This is my favorite video on this song. Why? Because that flag marking the beginning of the race comes down right on the beat. I just LOVE that!! Good job! :)
I feel tears welling up from down deep inside, Like my heart's got a big break. And a stab of loneliness sharp and painful that I may never shake. You might think that I'm taking it hard since you broke me off with a call. You might wager that I'll hide in sorrow and I might lay right down and bawl. Now the race is on and here comes pride up the back stretch, Heartaches a goin' to the inside, my tears are holding back, tryin' not to fall. My heart's our of the running, true love scratched for another's sake, The race is on and it looks like heartaches, and the winner loses all. One day I ventured in love never once suspecting What the final result would be. Now I live in fear of waking up each morning, And finding that you're gone from me. There's an aching pain in my heart for the name of the one that I hated to face, Someone else came out to win her, and I came out in second place.
The movie is CC and Co. with Joe Namath as CC - Motorcycle mechanic C.C. Ryder joins "The Heads," an outlaw biker gang. Fellow gang members menace fashion journalist Ann Margret when her limo breaks down in the desert, but C.C. comes to her rescue. The bikers disrupt a motorcross event tied in with a fashion shoot, but C.C. enters the competition under Ann's admiring eye. His win puts him at odds with Moon, leader of "The Heads." When C.C. leaves with his cut of the purse, the bikers kidnap Ann, and C.C. races Moon to win her freedom.
I take guitar lesson today in Saint Joseph, MO. Now this song uses a baritone 6string guitar if anybody cares to know. I did not know that. But my hometown music store has a Baritone guitar for sale there
I still get some what upset at sawyer brown . Seen them in Rockford and that’s when they just started getting bigger . Great show but after some of went to back door waiting for them to come out . Maybe 10 of us. A guy said they won’t come out until we leave , wow . Never really listen to them anymore 😞
I love the song, find the video comical, since "Broadway Joe could not ride a bike like that with his bad knees, and Ann Margaret acting the "cheerleader", gotta laugh. Anyway, had to add to this, 'cause someone has to. GPM-53.
One of my favorite Sawyer Brown songs!!
It was a cover song. I think the Possum did it first. 😮
Mine too
Modern country artists should be ashamed of themselves, I don't even like country music but this here is true country music folks. Someday it'll come back.

Not all of it. Though I prefer the Sawyer Brown, Clay Walker, Travis Tritt, etc, there a few good ones that are new. I really like Cole Swindell
When I was 15, my new boyfriend used my Mom's guitar and sang this song for her! It was a hit and my parents loved him, married him. had a wonderful daughter! I love this song!

May George Jones, who originated this song, rest in peace. He died today at age 81.

When I met my first husband, he sang this song and played the guitar for my mom! I couldn't believe it, but he won her over!

every time I I listen to music this is the first song i listen to and when ride my bike I sing it in my head
I feel tears welling up from down deep inside,
Like my heart's got a big break.
And a stab of loneliness sharp and painful that I may never shake.
You might think that I'm taking it hard since you broke me off with a call.
You might wager that I'll hide in sorrow and I might lay right down and bawl.
Now the race is on and here comes pride up the back stretch,
Heartaches a goin' to the inside, my tears are holding back, tryin' not to fall.
My heart's our of the running, true love scratched for another's sake,
The race is on and it looks like heartaches, and the winner loses all.
One day I ventured in love never once suspecting
What the final result would be.
Now I live in fear of waking up each morning,
And finding that you're gone from me.
There's an aching pain in my heart for the name of the one that I hated to face,
Someone else came out to win her, and I came out in second place.

Nice video
I could listen to the guitar riff (or whatever its called) at 1:00 all day long.
Bass solo jams!
This song hits harder when you've participated in the race. She left me for someone else and I came out in second place.
Like this Song along with the Walk Good Country
When the hell else would we be listening? 1970?
My favorite song ever!!!
I like this version a bit better than george Jones', it just rocks a bit more, but aint nuthin wrong with the way george did it either
this version takes a bit to much on the race factor i gotta dissagree with u but me and george go way way back so maybe im bias
Everyone has their own favorites
yeah thats true
If George would have done this style without Sawyer singing it would be the best of both worlds
***** Heretic!Blasphemer!Follower of the false Prophet!
