  • Microsoft made their debut in the Flight Simulator market in November (Possibly November 11) 1982 with an IBM PC version of this popular game, which subLOGIC had been selling for the Apple and the TRS-80 since 1980. Microsoft won the rights to produce an FS version for the recently introduced IBM Personal Computer (PC) following a bidding war with IBM. In comparison to the previous version FS1 for the Apple and TRS-80, as you can see below, this version was far more sophisticated. It has a "real" panel with eight gauges and all the equipment the FAA deemed required for VFR and IFR flights, just like the instructions says. It has "real scenery" as well. The starting point was in Chicago's Meigs Airport.
