Nice presentation of Winston Salem and that history you dropped never knew of that African American neighborhood It is good to see people representing the Triad there are plenty of videos on Charlotte, Raleigh, Ashville, Wilmington, and Durham good job I'm in Greensboro 👍🏾✌🏾
The little waterfall is really lovely. Winston-Salem looks really cool. The art dispensers are such a unique idea. I hope they carry on doing the fathers day card forever because that is so cute! Oooh Hot Krispy Kremes delicious. xx
Hello neighbor!! Grew up in the area. Live in Salisbury now. Family worked for RJR. Love, Love, Love W-S!!! Thank you for the tour! You guys are awesome!!
Hello, that is awesome! :) It is a really cool city and beautiful area, it was a little difficult to try to fit it into one video. Really like Salisbury too, one of the most convenient locations in the state.
@@laurenandseth Are you guys still in San Salvador ? I landed there once enroute to Costa Rica. San Salvador was quite dangerous a few years ago, not sure about now.
Thank you for being integral about the black struggle here and acknowledging our history. I have family buried in Happy Hill Cemetery. I grew up a few minutes from there off Reynolds Park Rd. I knew nothing about the waterfalls. I just wish y’all hadn’t omitted WSSU.
Love all of your content! My families travel vlog (NicholsEnRoute) has a trip planned to Kitty Hawk in April, we are now planning a stop in Winston-Salem ♥️
Thanks! I hope you guys have an awesome trip. We love visiting the coast whenever possible! I subscribed to your families RUclips channel and can't wait to see what you guys get into 😊
@@laurenandseth We are excited to visit the coast! Your video on the Outer Banks is how we found your channel. The comment about taking your mask with you, the beach doesn't want it had me subscribe immediately, and I am glad I did ♥️ Thank you so much for the support ☺️ we are going to be filming our home state this week so hopefully we will be putting out RUclips content soon! As of now I've only been posting to TikTok, but I'm super excited to be expanding 🥰.
Oh yea, a U.S. vlog! We are hoping to make it to North Carolina this year! Will have to reach out to you guys when we do go. Hidden Gem vlogs are always so fun. That waterfall is pretty cool. There is so many cool things where ever you are, just need to take the time to look and enjoy. I have never gone to a drive thru food truck before.- impressive. I wonder if it is the world's largest Kettle. The 🍆 building 😂 I love all the roadside attraction. So sad with all that vandalism and that historical black area not being kept up. I didn't know Wake Forest was there. Thanks for taking us around by where you guys use to live.
We've got a few more U.S. vlogs coming! I know you guys would love NC. There are so many places there for the whole family to enjoy 😄 I don't know if it's the world's largest kettle but it's said to be able to hold over 11,000 brews of coffee! So wild lol. And about Wake Forest, it's kind of confusing because there is a city in NC called Wake Forest but that's not where the University is at haha 😂
Lol I go to Mackays quite often. Lived in the Twin Cities my whole life. Yet I went to College in Brevard, NC then came back. I can say I am a well-traveled man who went to Scotland, Galapagos, China, Greece, and England.
We have been to Winston-Salem many times and did not now about most of these places. We will have to check this city out in more detail when we are next in the area. We DO love a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donut! Or twelve. Thanks for showing us these hidden gems!
That's cool that you have been to Winston a few times! I know a lot of people who just drive through because they think there isn't much to see but hopefully it will get some more tourism lol. I feel you guys, 12 donuts sound about right 😂
i grew up in Winston, since 95 at age 5, and never knew about that downtown waterfall. cool find that I'm sure 99.9% of locals are totally unaware of. distinguished skyline indeed.... whenever I'm returning from traveling, i know I'm home where the phallus meets the heavens....
Hey! Welcome back to the Carolinas! Looks like a great city! That vintage Shell station is cool. Didn't know Krispy Kream started there! Always nice to be home! We just set up to visit Nashville, Charleston, and Savahanna, and can't wait! Take care!
Love it! I would have never known about that waterfall if it wasn't for this video. I myself am from the Kernersville/ Southside of Winston salem area. Great video u guys!
Great video guys 👍. I’m planning to get up there to do some videos soon, I have family that lives there. I will have to go check out that secret falls, that looked really cool. Keep up the awesome job guys 👍
Thank you! The secret falls was super fun to check out, let us know when you’re going and we’ll explain how to find it if you want. It’s a pretty cool area
At 11;23 mark or so, you show the clock tower in old happy hill gardens. I built that clock tower with the company I worked for in about 2006 or so! I can't believe you showed it. Happy Hill gardens used to very run down and rough. I lay bricks. The side you showed is the side I built. Me and 1 other guy built that clock tower. We worked for Fletcher Brothers concrete and masonry. All of that brick work on that corner there we did!
Thanks a ton. That means a lot. :) We love Portland! We lived out in Seattle for a couple of years and trips down to Oregon were the best memories! We are really excited to eventually visit back out there and see more of the state. Enjoy Winston-Salem and North Carolina when you visit. There is a lot to do. Let us know if you have any questions or want tips on places. :)
Great video! I was born and raised in Winston. Most of the things you showed I have enjoyed minus that waterfall. I went walking with friends trying to find it but we never did. I loved the hat joke… can’t wait to get back home and have one “hot now” 🤩
Thank you! We were beginning to wonder if we'd ever find that waterfall for a minute. :D Krispy Kreme is just the best. I've never had a better donut, especially if they are hot now. :) Cheers!
Awesome video! I love how you highlighted so many things! The art district looks so neat and I’d definitely would be interested to try the pinto beans with mayo! -S
I loved your video and look forward to getting to know you through your channel. I'm from Winston-Salem and you taught me a thing or two. I love travel videos and it was really cool to see my hometown featured. I spent most of my life right here, but I was born in Charleston and I'm looking forward to your coverage of my birth place. You've made me look at Winston-Salem in a whole new way.
Awesome! Always nice to 'meet' a fellow Carolinian here on RUclips. :) We really enjoyed making this one. We really love Charleston too and would love to make a video there in the future. Cheers!
Salem Lake is a hidden gem in the middle of the city with hiking and biking trails, playground, water dam, fishing pier, marina with canoes and kayaks. It's just beautiful.
That spot you showed at Happy Hill gardens used to be rough, crack and drug area. It was the projects. All black area of town. When we built the clock tower the city was in the process of tearing down the old projects and building new ones. It looks a lot better now but it's still a heavy drug area. I moved out of Winston to Kentucky in 2012, I grew up in Winston, went to Reynolds high school.
Thank you so much posting this. I normally go to Mexico for vacation (I've been watching your vlogs from there too), but Winston Salem and Asheville are at the top of my list for vacation and retirement scouting. I really enjoy your other vlogs from there too!
Awesome! You’re like us, we love Mexico and the Carolinas are still one of our favorite places in the US. Both of those are great options, we have thought about moving to Asheville several times in the past but the prices always keep us away. 😂 Have you checked out Greenville, SC at all? It’s really nice too! 😊 Happy travels, take care!
I agree the KK doughnuts are awesome. Little tip. If you guys are ever in Carolina Beach during beach season, go to the boardwalk at get a Britt’s Donut. They’ve been in business over 80 years. They only sell glazed. Eat one or 6 hot at the counter. They might be better than a KK but only by a smidge. 👍🏻
You guys did a great job but when the video started at ackingna's I instantly knew this was going to be a great video Also try zoes restaurant off old walkertown road
