Thank you, Pat! The ending of “ The House of Tomorrow” starting with “Look back . . . “ I would gladly hang in my home as reminder to myself and an encouragement to all who enter. And I can imagine the beautiful scene of “New Beginnings” and feel the heart full of hopes in “still possible.” May we all “Be good, then better” and remind ourselves and others of what “is still possible.”
I will hear the thunder as their applause! I also love “only the things I didn’t do crackle after the blazing dies”. As someone with endless dreams and ambitions and plenty of self-doubt, these really resonated with me. And “still possible”. 😊 Very hopeful and empowering, it left me feeling like the Earth itself is rooting for me and for us all. Thank you for this selection and for reading them so beautifully! ❤️
Thank you, my dear friend, for making the request and for being the inspiration for this set of poems. Wishing you all that is good in the coming year. ♥
”this is where we have come with our age our knowledge such as it is and our hopes such as they are invisible before us untouched and still possible” Not sure why I always feel compelled to choose a favorite, but in this case I'm especially feeling the Merwin. He’s on my list of poets to explore in the coming year. Honorable mention to Naomi Shihab Nye, who always shines. "sizzle like moth wings, marry the air"
What a nice selection! Thank you!
