Easier said than done, getting the screws that mount the GDEMU to that little frame is a pain, very hard to screw in, I had to screw and unscrew them in without the GDEMU prior to mounting the GDEMU to get the holes drilled out in order to make it easier to screw them back in to secure the GDEMU to that little frame. The other screws were a bit easier. Good thing it only needs to be done once, it's now much easier to swap out Memory Cards, great product and the price is not too expensive, better than others I've seen that don't have that Gdrom shaped box that restores proper air flow through the Dreamcast and those you have to pay seprately for the SD Memory card extension thing. I wish it had more than 1 slot for extra Memory Cards but that's just a nit picking and it's still a vast improvement over having nothing at all but the GDEMU or even the other inserts that don't have the Remote SD Memory card slot.
I bought one from a seller on ebay using a GD emu v5.15 clone board and the mod wouldn't intsall the gd emu board would not connect to the dreamcast motherboard and just pop out. I think the person who printed it must've made them compatible with v5.5 boards or they printed a bracket that was too thicc.
The current iteration follows the allowed deviation in angles from the molex board interface to allow all currently known to me connectors to work correctly. If there is one that is not working I am always willing to make adjustments to make something that will work.
I did thermal testing on all of this a while back and it does help with the airflow to be much more like a stock system, the thermals were much closer to stock. There is still the issue of the 12V regulator adding additional heat but at least it doesn't linger in place as bad as an open system.
I've ordered a kit from you at the beginning of the month. Does the latest kit come with more screws? If not, any suggestions for someone who trashed the defective GDROM drive and original screws?
You should only need 1 screw, if you take one of the ones for the GDEMU board and use it in the back position you can install it without needing any original hardware
There is a new version of the GDEMU that seems to have issues with them, but that is likely a hardware fault in that design. Otherwise I've never seen issues with extensions of good quality.
@@NytronX I don't have one to test, 15CM ones are currently verified and we sell them separately along with the required screws as hardware kits on our site www.laserbear.net in case they cant be found anywhere else.
@@LaserBearIndustries the reason I ask, is cause I've heard that there are slight size differences. There is a remix on thingiverse that claims to address this...
It is pretty much required only for the game D2, which does not allow you to save your game when switching discs. All other multi-disc games provide a prompt to save when switching discs. For those, you can also soft reset (A+B+X+Y+Start) and chose the next disc from the menu.

Awesome video. I have a question . Will the unit run hot without adding anything to compensate for it if it did?
awesome release ! thank you Greg
many thanks , well presented tutorial !!
Thank you sir. You Rock!!
What about GDEMU clones? The boards are slightly different sizes I think

Would this kit alone be sufficient to redirect fan airflow like the original GDROM drive? I just ordered your kit because it looked like it would.

@@LaserBearIndustries OK, thank you
I've read that sd card extenders can be really finicky, is that true?

my kit did not come with a long screw.
I'm sorry about that contact me on the website or reply to the tracking email and I'll get you one.
Nice video dude! Hey whats the length of the SD Card extender?
15CM but I can't find any suppliers selling them anymore. You might need to look for a 25CM one
@@LaserBearIndustries You sure it wouldn't work with a 10cm cable?

I want to buy GC Loader
Will I have to uninstall my gdemu in order to install the kit?
Unplug it and install it into the mount. No software changes are needed
@@LaserBearIndustries great, thanks!!
Does it fit with Terraonion MODE?
We have one specifically made for the MODE laserbear.net/shop/ols/products/mode-dreamcast-mount
This is great! Thank you!!!
Will this work with China clones?
Yes, the current version works with all GDEMUS

Thanks for this. But you didn't say whats the black button for.
On the GDEMU there is a small button that changes disks when playing multi disk games the button on the kit interfaces with that button.

thank you I had the same question... glad to find the answer here
are these still for sale ?
I'm waiting on a new batch of SD extension cables to get to me.
