You do yourself 'unjustess' by comparing your project with magic carpet, duracell, etc.
Compared with wildling ( and I really like what Mark is doing), you'r doing pretty well.
Especially considering that you have 2 totally different boat projects + a family to take care of, I can just say: 'keep the good work going'
I wish you all the best for the new year 2024, may it bring to you and your family what you expect from it.

Andy... ignore the aholes. Seriously, most are bots or basement dwelling trolls who are not worth the recycled electrons they spew on the net.
You are doing amazing work (we know, we just finished a 14 month refit on our boat!). You have so much to be proud of, the obvious love in your family and refitting 2 boats at the same time FFS! You and Melissa are living and making this amazing life with intent and gratitude, and that is something no sad internet troll will ever have.
Always remember, every negative comment is from someone who is jealous of what you have and what you are creating, that is the proof in the pudding... =]

Awesome job sir.....1 tiny suggestion. After you put the coat of epoxy on your deck, have a gas torch and just hit the area with some heat for a few seconds. What that does, it will make the epoxy self leveling, thinner, thus it will soak into the crack of the wood and properly seal it and most importantly, you'll notice the heat just killing the air bubbles! That's the best part in my opinion.... big thumbs up on every episode and Happy New Year.

    • @SailingMelody

Good idea I’ll do that with the next coat

With all the interior refits the awful smell Andy was talking about in a few episodes ago, will be gone forever and WIlleke and I have to agree that the floor now looks absolutely stunning. When all the wood parts will get a fresh varnish finish Ocean Melody’s interior will look brand new again. Thank you. I’m good at this kind of persistence and application when I have a clear vision of what I’m doing and why. But I find the repetitive and mundane utterly intolerable when I can’t personally see the point or have no personal vision for the project. I truly admire people who can apply themselves to years of mundane toil working towards something they have no personal interest in. People who can go to work and just a “job” for decades with no real interest in what it is they’re doing amaze me. I don’t have that kind of tenacity

Keep a container of cheap talcum powder on hand to dust a little on gloves as they get sticky, and on any dabs of epoxy you get on yourself (wrists, hole in glove etc.) The talc absorbs the epoxy making it easier to scrape off afterwards. Use loo paper to clean excess epoxy off gloves etc. during initial cleanup of tools before finishing off with thinners. Saves tossing out a lot of hardened cloths. Happy new year to you all.

It looks mint! I've enjoyed the floor restoration work which has enhanced a beautiful boat no end, well done. If I may say, I'm not a supporter of these integrated commercial ads as it gives the viewer/consumer no choice in what gets pushed down our throats in regard to the ever-pressurised world of advertising, I find that immoral. The choice based on product interest should be ours to choose and I sincerely hope the choice doesn't come to the point of whether we watch your videos or not. Lastly, I have to say I love that old building you use as a workshop and catching a glimpse of the old water wheel in the yard heightened my interest no end. Love to see that history on display.

    • @SailingMelody
      @SailingMelody  5 месяцев назад +2

We’ll that’s why I put a timer on them so you can choose to skip to the end of the add. We have to have sponsors and things like that or for us the choice will be to stop the videos because they provide 40% of our income and with that kind of loss it would be the end of the channel and the end of the videos as we would have to look for income streams other than the making of RUclips videos (which we already do a bit of) but we’d have to do more work outside RUclips making the videos less viable. So I’m afraid to say we will continue to use sponsors to make the channel a viable business but I will make sure we include the counter so you can choose to skip ahead. I think that’s the best compromise.

For a little while while you were varnishing, it sound like Darth Vader it’s faint and in the background, but I can hear you breathing through your respirator and it really sounds just like Darth Vader. hoping your Christmas was wonderful and may you have a happy new year!!🎉🎉

I love the T shirt! Great to see you using a paint-brush - so many people rely on rollers which don't produce a decent finish - and what a result!! By the time you read this Christmas has already happened, so have a great New Year!

Wow, Andy, you are truly a master of DIY sailing projects! Your epoxy floors look absolutely awesome! It's incredible to see how you're able to achieve such high-quality results on a small budget. You've put so much thought and effort into every detail, and it definitely shows. Cheers! 🎉⛵️🥰

Pre-pour a bunch of 200ml epoxy without hardener with 40ml small cups next to them like a round of Jaeger bombs - then just mix and use. Works for me anyway. HNY guys ⛵️

Don't be hard on yourself. No one has skills till they do the jobs that give them the skills, You are doing a bang up job. The floors looks great. I might just suggest some non slip rug runners. The floors may be slick as snot if they get wet. They may not but you will know soon either way. Keep up the good work.

Good job. You definetely need varnish, One coat not be enough. I would stay with 2 k and use PU, 3 coats. How did you avoid that the removable panels do stick to the fixed ones....Epoxy will have run between them?

If 36:08 further epoxy or painting, wear several pairs of gloves, then if you need to move your camera, remove a glove and have a clean gloved hand
