One year ago I began making bricks to fulfill my vision of building a small and primitive but livable adobe hut. In the winter I had to pause construction because of cold weather. Now summer is here and I have enough bricks to finish the project. When the hut is finished then I will have more time to focus on other projects to improve living conditions on this land. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video.

    My equipment:
Camera: Nikon D7500 and GoPro Hero7 Black
    Sound: Zoom H6
Editing: Final Cut Pro X on MacBook Air
    Location: Parts Unknown
    FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
    Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend, but that has been very rare.
Do you stay out there permanently?
No, I usually stay out in a wilderness area for about a week and then hike out and return to a city for editing and uploading. I have family and other obligations to take care of as well.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
    Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?
I first started wearing sandals on outdoor adventures in February 2014. I’m so glad that I did because wearing these Luna Sandals has really helped strengthen my feet. You can see their selection of adventure and running sandals at this link: www.lunasandals.com/?rfsn=102...
(Note: I receive an affiliate commission from any sales derived from clicking on the link above)
    Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
    Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
    How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 49.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including RUclips. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free.

Did you build the bricks with your time off or, have a stockpile in hand? And spiders wont build that close with constant movement so? How often do you really hit this area up. I know they will build close but, building on a roof with constant movement means to me, you havent been around alot. I'm sorry if I'm wrong but, more curious than anything bro. Hopefully you remember my name lol. I've talked to you before. But no worries if you dont lol. That's life haha!

I'm glad you got sponsorship. I am interested in trying LMNT, but I would like a more detailed video on each of the flavors before spending my money. If there are no artificial ingredients, and it's mostly salt, how good do each flavor packets taste? I work as a welder in 100 degree heat now, so hydration is important to me. (I am so happy I got a good job now!)

My little house is being built. Not a home like yours. Earth bricks and bark roofs seem to be good materials. A healthy house and good nature. Good electrolytes.
It would be convenient if the stone from the last video was also used as a wall material.
It doesn't match the size or variety, but I think it can make a wall more comfortable.
Shower berry raid replenishes your strength.
If you apply mud to the wood, you can cut it accurately.
I also occasionally met snakes while building a house. Big and small snakes. I tend to send them away rather than eat them. Cute animals. Korean snakes are gentle and timid.
Congratulations on the completion of your new home.

Thank you for talking about the importance of electrolytes, including sodium. Most people don't realize that sodium is 100% necessary for our cells to function. Too much can be bad, yes, but too little can also be bad. I'm currently having to increase my sodium levels (under doctor approval) while my sister has had to reduce her sodium & potassium levels--we have to cook low-sodium for her needs, but I have to remember to salt-shaker my food at every meal. It's not easy!

@@ChadZuberAdventures Hey Chad. You mentioned about how a tiled rooftop would be ideal. Do you plan on doing that at some point or just sticking to the bark. Any idea when you might upgrade if you do decide to? Tia

    • @ladyofthemasque
      @ladyofthemasque Год назад +2

@@I_Scorched_You He mentioned in a previous video that the weight of all those tiles would be a lot. I suspect he's (rightfully) concerned about the structural integrity of the roof, since he's working with a wide variety of (formerly) green and deadwood branches, and not much in the way of joinery. A lighter roof material is simply safer. Plus, clay tiles are difficult to fit onto a round roof. Not impossible, but you have to be pretty good at the math to get the wedge-shape just right, and it'll be a different size for every single concentric ring around the roofline, from edge to peak. Square would be better, but as it is, a round roof actually saves on how much material has to be gathered, processed, and applied, compared to a rectangular one, so Chad saved himself a lot of trouble by not having all that extra work.

lol, "i have never been stung by one but i have eaten them". what a casual badass.
fantastic work on the hut, i am so happy for your back!
burning off the ends of the wood is a great trick: in addition to all the things you said, charring the wood makes it more fire and water resistant. charcoal is really hydrophobic so water won't soak in as easily if the wood were to get wet, and it doesn't ignite as easily as dry wood either. smoothing and rounding the ends so no thin fibres are sticking out etc also helps with both these things. nicely done!

Wow I remember when you started that little pit. And wow the bricks seem to be holding up fine. It's amazing. I would love to try this. And who would have known... land shrimp scorpions. Hmmm. I LOVE SHRIMP.

Chad, so good to see this hut going up. I'd love to know an approximation of hours that went into it digging with a ROCK.
Also there is a reason modern bricks are not perfectly flat on top, it gives the mortar something to grip AND less material making the brick in the first place (Also helps drying and firing processes).

Wow! Chad this is amazing. Husband and I are amazed not just by the entire but, but that doorway is incredible! Watching you make the bricks with the angles I didn't see how you would do it, but its fantastic. The pottery is beautiful, and I gotta say I'm a bit obsessed with the gourds!! Fantastic video!!!

This triangle shape was also used in minoan and mycenaean buildings to relieve the load of the stone beam over the doors or windows. Also the hut look more like a miniature castle tower. Keep up the good work, its relaxing compared to the madness we live in.

Since there's Honey bee's around try making a basket bee hive and place in a distant tree so they can naturally move in. Then hopefully you'll get yourself a hive producing honey for you that will also help the area around there.
