Does anyone know the translation of the last section? Feeding this into a translator doesn't yield anything I can make sense of. "Quão doce é o louvor e a justa glória Dos próprios feitos, quando são soados! Qualquer nobre batalha que em memória vença ou iguale os grandes já passados; AS enjevas da ilustre e alheia história fazem mil feitos sublimados Quem valerosas obras exercita, Louvor alheio muito o esperta e incita"
How sweet is the praise and righteous glory From our own deeds, when they are sounded! Any noble battle in which memory beats or equals the great that have passed. The envy of illustrious and foreign history make a thousand deeds sublimate Him who valuable doings exercises, Foreign praise arouses and incites Somehow managed to keep the rhymes. It's a portuguese poem from Luis de Camoes and it's written in archaic portuguese so it can be sometimes challenge to take the meaning out of it, even for portuguese people.
Imortal122 Thanks. I was trying to interpret it under the assumption that it had the same syntax as Spanish (since that is the only other language I know) and it wasn't working too well (about 45% made enough sense for me to get the smallest idea what it was saying without dismissing it as a mis-translation). Is this archaic Portuguese to current Portuguese as old English is to current English?
I wouldnt say it has a different syntax, since back then portuguese and spanish languages were even more similar than they are now. But yes, archaic Portuguese or old Portuguese is the same to current Portuguese as old English is to current English. Luis de Camoes is to Portuguese literature what Shakespeare is to English literature.
I meant that I got the basic syntax but the words were different, knowing the syntax without being able to figure out the words is useless unless I don't care about accuracy. I could guess 45% of the words, but I try to avoid being so foolish as to think I am understanding something when there is any uncertainty in the translation.
@estebanskater123 lool oh yeah, living in colombia is my life dream xDD keep listening this kind of disco/power metal if you want, its your problem...gays allways gays xDD
