    Also also also, before I head off to bed, RUclips have demonetized about 8 of my videos so far which is super lame (some of the biggest viewed ones, too). I don't normally ask peeps to do this, but if you could share this tutorial on your facebook, or with your friends, that would be rad, especially because this one is *not* gory so will probably stay up no problems.
    My views have dropped super badly the last few days, THANKS RUclips.

      Man, that blows. I really hope RUclips reconsiders their new conditions. This whole debacle is starting to get out of hand :/ Will definitely be sharing this!

      Have you submitted an appeal yet? You didn't violate the monetization rule, so fight it. And yes, I'll share! Hope you get it all worked out!

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад +2

      I have for the three that I can, but five are just blacked out with no appeal available, including my video about how to apply fake bloods? Pretty random. And some of the bigger, money making (well, used to be money making) videos like the Severed Fingers (which I've had a lot of issues with RUclips in the past), and David's slit throat one.

    Those who follow me on ig and snapchat will know how hard this was to get right! I would have never guessed starting out with this makeup that it would take so long to finish it, but I learnt so much from it.
    What's been the hardest makeup that you guys have attempted so far?

      You finally got the makeup right!! I was so worried that you would just give up!!!!! I am SOOOO thrilled with the end product! It is great makeup artists like you that RUclips does NOT need to lose and all these stupid restrictions are so stupid!!! why not get revenue from companies that sell gore makeup etc and leave the videos monetization alone!!! That is what really burns me! Anyway SO PROUD OF THIS MAKEUP WILL SHARE!!!!

      Heya! I happily would if you'd like? I am doing A levels at current though so might have other demands etc that would mean I am not as reliable as I'd otherwise like to be, but I'm here if you need a volunteer. I have researched quite a lot about prosthetics so would probably be able to know what you mean as well as "translate" it. Love your videos by the way!

    Just a tip - when you decide to make the positive solid and flat, to open, I've found that if you balance your pry bars on a slightly raised surface, and have the (heavier) corrected positive side on the bottom, you can let gravity help you pop the stone mould, and you're less likely to have flange breakage. I'm not sure if that's helpful to you, but it's helped me a great deal. Just make sure you have a soft towel to catch the positive as it pops down. Doing that adds (the measured weight of your positive) of even pressure to pop the mould, without adding damaging pressure to your pry points. @Freakmo Feel free to message me if you'd like a better explanation, or visuals. 🌻

    That's a verra good effort mate and came out lovely. I know you put a lot of time and effort into researching this and finding the guys that did it. I saw all your tests and it really paid off. This is by far your best work and your work in general is a good level. I am also completely blown away by that wig that you tied yourself. thats hardcore.
    Tip for opening a moulds like that. I would get some wooden clothes pegs and dismantle them by taking the spring from the centre. Use them a like a tapered wedge that you can gently tap in to all the pry points. I tend to gauge the depth of my pry points to what I will be prying it open with too, so try and make the clay a tiny bit thicker than the tip of the wedge. Metal screw drivers have chipped and and crack some of my work, the wood is more gentle way without transferring too much of the shock from the hammer blows into the plastic and stone.

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад

      Thanks Toby! That's a great idea. I tried making my own wooden wedges and the wood was just way too soft, it totally shattered while trying to tap it in, which is why I went back to m y bad habit of using screwdrivers :P I'll try to find some sturdy pegs.

    I love that you did a Star Trek character!! I had been thinking of dressing up as Jaylah for Halloween but I was just going to use black and white body paint xD

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад +4

      Yes! I was planning on doing a simple version of this too but now Im like "nope, done, so done with this" hahaha. But if you get a good plastic bald cap like the kryolan ones, you can cut off any excess bald cap flappage and also use the cap plastic to help cover your eyebrows, you can get a really nice edge on the bald cap, invisible brows, then it's easier to paint a face white than trying to paint silicone, so just creme paints or body paints should be all good, maybe seal the cap plastic first so it's easier to paint on, do some shading for her eyebrow creases, and you can do the black lines by hand and make it passable.

    So it's okay to put layers of utracal at the main urethane-mould? Will they stick together? Besides: this overview as itself is insane! I'm looking forward to the in depth tutorials!! ❤️❤️👍🏼

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад

      hahaha right?? Yeah so to stone back urethane you need to put cut up bits of burlap into the last layer of urethane so there's a mechanical bond between the two. Ideally people use TC1630 as the resin, then UC30 as the stone. The positive half of the mould that broke, well there wasn't enough burlap in it to mechanically bond it, AND I forgot to reinforce the UC 30 with burlap layers so that's why that happened :P the second mould, the negative, is still going strong, had the right amount of burlap in the resin, and in the stone.

    You probably won't see this, but is it possible to use silicone caulk as a substitute for sfx prosthetics? I want to make something with silicone caulk but I don't know if skin contact will be okay.

    • @trufflesthetechnomancer8145
      @trufflesthetechnomancer8145 8 лет назад

      This may be a little late, but I think I can help you. Your skin should not react to the caulking any differently then it would react to the prosthetic-grade silicone, so as long as you apply it to your skin only after it has fully cured, there should be no adverse reaction. Caulking does have different properties then the prosthetic silicone though. It is much more viscous before it is cured, so it doesn't pick up details in a mould nearly as easily, and it is more rigid then prosthetic silicone, which makes it hard to apply. If you want prosthetics on the cheap, I'd personally suggest going with gelatin or latex (unless you have an allergy to latex, of course). Both of these options are less reusable, but they'll work better then silicone caulking.

    Where do you get your coloured contacts from? btw your work is amazing

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад +1

      Hey! I get them from my optometrist. The best way (and really the only safe way) to acquire and wear lenses is through a proper optometrist, you need to get your eyes checked that they're the right health, size, and shape to wear contacts, and get your eye measurements done (curve and diameter), then if the one size fits most lenses, like the ones my optometrist stocks that i am wearing here is the brand Colourvue, are the same measurements as your eye, then you can get those, just have the optometrist show you how to safely insert, remove, clean, and store them, and for extra safety it's a good idea to have them look at how the lenses sit on your eye through their microscope, as if it's too tight it can actually take some of the cornea off with it during removal, but feel great and comfortable up until removal time, which is a scary thought! I'll do a video covering this for all the keen halloweeners :D

    Why didn't you paint the black parts? Seems to be easier.

    • @Freakmo
      @Freakmo  8 лет назад

      I'll copy paste my answer from below:
      I did on the very first application, but they were not.. good. Haha. I'm not a body painter so I can't draw straight lines for shit, especially all the way up to the top of my head where I have limited vision. As well as them not being straight, and not being symmetrical on my face, the black paint was cracking on the surface of the silicone as well, as i had to put a thicker layer to get it fully opaque. With the silicone it's way more controlled in terms of shape, size, symmetry, and most importantly - it doesn't crack! I didn't anticipate having to go over it so much after the white paint job, I can see why it'd seem like it's just negating the whole purpose of using silicone, but it does help with the cracking and longevity of the paint work for sure.
