This was a wonderful look back to the past. Even better because it was a living museum! I really love this kind of history. Thanks for sharing your day with the rest of us.
Kirsten and Joerg, what a fascinating day at the Living Museum!! It did seem extremely cold, which was evident to me when the horse strolled by with a saddle blanket. Thank you both so much for taking us places we most likely will never see, were it not for your generosity, graciousness, camera and calming narration. Kirsten, the black hat looked lovely on you, and it never would have occurred to me that it would have been heavy and bulky. Imagine wearing one for long stretches of time! Have a wonderful week, and until we see you next time, I send my great appreciation. Jane Lewis Gendreau, Northern Arizona, USA.
OMG,- you said it all! I wanted to write exactly what you did,- both about our great gratitude for opportunity to see all these nice places, which we would hardly visit otherwise,- and about how much that luxurious black hat suited Kirstens face! She looked so glamorous&elegant!
Everything was so beautifully designed and crafted back in "the good old days"; from the graphic designs on the product containers, the shelves and cupboards, warm floors, cash registers and display cases. This is a wonderful village, a treat for the eyes; thank you for another delightful trip to England!
Thanks so much for watching. Yes, a great fireplace, we had one like that in one of the cottages we rented from The Landmark Trust, it's here on RUclips as well.
An excellent video! I love the Victorian era so much! Would love to visit this museum that you've shared with us! Thank you both so much! You're so fun! I always look forward to your videos and seeing you both!
Another lovely video. We all love the romantic side without the hardship yes. So nice that places like this exist. Thankyou for taking us there Throughly enjoyed it. xx
Thanks so much! Exactly, I think so many of us think we would have owned a place like Downton Abbey whereas in reality we would have worked in the kitchen if we were lucky.
@@KirstenJoerg I know I probably would have but saying that my grandmothers family had maids and had a house with a tennis court. I have a picture of the front of the house. Hello Kirsten and Jörg, I really enjoy following you and I'm especially pleased with today's video because I visited Ironbridge a couple of years ago with my family. We visit England regularly and love to visit stately homes and gardens and enjoy the beautiful landscape around the Midlands with our english friends. Your videos are a great inspiration for new places of interest we can visit during our next stay in May. So keep going! Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!
Vielen Dank liebe Susanne! Ja, Ironbridge ist auch wirklich schön, leider war der Severn etwas zu hoch, so dass wir dieses Mal nicht dort hin konnten aber es hat uns bei unserem letzten Besuch auch total gut gefallen. Viele Grüße
Hello Kirsten, really loved your video. Imagine having a little specialty shop for everything. Love the hats you tried on, I adore the Victorian era ❤️
Absolutely stunning video. You always capture the most beautiful shots ! You are too right in that we often romanticize the past forgetting the daily hardships of the people. I will happily take present day with all of its opportunities. I’m hungry for chips with salt and vinegar now...yum ! ☺️
Sadly, the school master's method is reminiscent of the bullying used by many nuns in 1950s. So happy to see laughter from "student"/visitors! Thank you for a lovely day at Blists Hill.
Ellen, I was thinking the same thing about the nuns even in the 60’s and early 70’s! Scary what they could get away with. And one of my neighbors was truly bullied by them for being left-handed!! I’m glad some things have changed for the better:)

In the 1990's my daughter went to a Church of England school (for Americans: this is a public school) in Camberwell, London. At an assembly, the headmistress (who was practically from Victorian times since she retired soon after) asked a boy who was not sitting quietly like all the other children, to stand up. When he stood up she barked at him to take his hands out of his pockets. Surely a carryover from Victorian education! She also stood outside the school every morning ringing a huge handbell which indicated that the children needed to line up to get ready to enter the school.
This was normal procedure in schools in the 50's also. Nothing out of the ordinary also having the slipper if you misbehaved and your hands rapped with a ruler.
This was such fun thank you. I would ❤️to see the town although my very stubborn hubby would never be able to sit in that classroom with the strict teacher without wanting to knock him out. Lovely outing as always . ❤️😸🐠
All your videos are absolutely charming and lovely. We travel with you, have tea with you, visit with you these amazing small English villages that I adore. What a lovely tour. I was thinking to ask about the weight of those hats, Kirsten, when you answered my question. They looked very heavy indeed. What a lovely tour, thank you! As always, your music was so enjoyed. Hope you thawed out nicely.😉
How wonderful to venture with you! Thank you both, I really enjoyed this video. Yes, and I can't imagine trying to learn & strive in those days but I guess when it's familiar that's how one lived. I was born left handed apparently and was forced to do do hours of writing exercises as a young girl. Am now very right handed with the worst script & printing one ever saw. 🤔💕
Thanks so much for watching! Yes, I feel quite lucky - my teacher wanted me to write with my right hand but since it was the late 70s already my parents said no and won.
You guys are such an adorable couple! It's been great taking these lovely walks throughout England with you. I've just found you and instantly became a fan!! I hope someday you can go to Jane Austen's House and take us with you! Best regards from Brazil!
Thanks for another lovely day out! Kirsten, I don’t know how you do it, but you manage to look so nice in anything you wear. The hats were wonderful, but I imagine a full day in one might prove a bit hard on the neck. Oh, the things we will do to look our best! Hope the work on your house is going well. Looking forward to the trip to Northumberland! 🥰
What a magical village... A real time travel. I just adored! And vinegar on «chips» is perfect... (Your little birds dress is lovely... =) ) I hope you had a nice cozy evening by the fire... (We are expecting 40cm of snow in the woods... ) Hugs
It's such a lovely place. Both of us caught a little cold because it was so freezing in the school but we are already a little better (yes, we enjoyed the fire at home so much). Oh my, 40cm of snow is a lot.
what a wonderful place ! i could play there during days . Thanks Kirsten to share all your fabulous moments , it makes me so happy and your voice destressed me so much ! have a sweet day !
It feels like I’m from a past life looking at all that, my mum was born in 1933 she told me all about her upbringing and all the recipes her granny would teach her looking at these little shops and product bottles it’s just a dream, I’ve often dreamed about finding a place like this I wish there was a time machine what year and place would you travel back too 😊
I love nostalgia, travelling back in time. I enjoyed watching your trip to Blists Hill, experiencing how life was for people back then. Thank you for sharing.
Ein toller Ausflug. Fascinierend um zu sehen wie andere Generationen gelebt haben. Danke für den tollen Ausflug. Freue mich auch auf das nächste Video. Liebe Grüsse
This looks like a lovely place to visit, I've been to Beamish a couple of times and really like it there. Hope you enjoy/enjoyed Holy Island, I've visited a couple of times and really like it but do get a bit stressed about getting back over the causeway though.
Thanks so much! We would love to go to Beamish too, hopefully next time. We absolutely loved Holy Island, the causeway was absolutely fine, if you check the tides you're more than okay.
Kirsten and Joerg thank you for another fascinating video and tour of this beautiful Victorian town. Love your calm and tranquil voices and narration that is so relaxing. I also simply adore Joerg 's few words in between sentences. What a nice combo the two of you are! Looking forward to seeing more. ❤️
Thanks for taking us on another great trip! So many little treasures to comment on. That black hat looked amazing on you! Loved the schoolmaster! Victorian times were truly hard but everyone has already commented that most of us romanticize the era. I can’t help it! I am obsessed with the past. The pigs were so adorable! I also am now craving chips with salt and vinegar! Thanks for taking the time to do this. You both do such a wonderful job. It’s a real talent. Love to you both! ❤️❤️
Thank you so much Karen! Loved the pigs too and the school teacher did a fantastic job in showing us how it was back then (in real life he was such a kind man).
What a interesting step back in time. You looked lovely in the bonnet. When I was at school naughty boys were caned. I remember sitting quietly in class aged about six and the teacher walked by and hit me on the knuckles with a ruler. To this day I have no idea what I did. I’m 71 now and I still remember it well. Love your videos TFS.💕
What a delightful place to visit...adored the hats..reminded me of my mother &I trying on hats once & giggling over them....I could almost taste the chips, only Britain does them right..thanks for the outing
Lovely Kirsten and Joerg!! Amazing place, Blists Hills is cold but it's a beautiful place. Everything was nice in this video, the hats, the cottages, the stores, the soup, the chips... I appreciate you for sharing more than images! Thanks , greeting from Lima...
What an interesting place - thanks for showing us. I love the way you always incorporate food or cafes into your videos. Looking forward to the next one! ☕️
Kirsten and Joerg what a beautiful video. I absolutely loved the pharmacy and the antique clothing shop with the beautiful hats and bonnets. I would love to be able to dress like that in the 21st century. You looked so lovely when you tried on the hats and bonnet. Thank you for sharing. The music is also so soothing and calming. Love you guys!!
Hi Kristen and Joerg... Living museums are great fun, full of historical items and building. That school master was master indeed...yikes!! Home made soup will hit the spot...We too have a living museum in our town/city. Steinbach Heritage Museum in Manitoba Canada...(I'm sure they have a web site...) it too is very cool, with a huge windmill...Low German immigrants from Germany, Russia and Prussia and there way of life back in the day. Thanks for the tour it was fun. Time to get home and warm up...❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼 Tracy🇨🇦
Thanks so much for watching Tracy. Yes, the teacher was horrible but very good in his role to show us how it was back in the day so it was great to experience it.
What a fun & interesting day out. It’s great to be able to visit places with you both through your delightful, charming & very professionally made films.
Absolutely loved Blists Hill village, I didn't catch where exactly in the UK it is. As you know I have cherished historic buildings, towns and villages all my life, and would love to live once again in an English country town, so seeing this village in it's original state is very heart warming indeed. Your high quality camera, steady and slow filming and editing and your slow and clear diction makes your vlogs perfect, thank you so much. Thankfully my wife and I only just managed to purchase a c1910 house in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia which we both adore. It has Art Nouveau pressed metal ceilings throughout, victorian fireplaces which we use, lots of beautiful stained glass windows and timber dado wall panelling and timber flooring. We feel very privileged to own it. But I would happily sell it to move to dear old England.
Oh Kirsten and Jorge what a lovely day out! You have made my dream come true! I actually felt as if was there wondering the quaint Victorian streets. When I lived in the UK I never thought to visit such places and now that I’m in the US I yearn for home. Thank you for bringing a little bit of Victorian England to my home in the US...The shops looked like the were proper working places where you could buy actual food and goods. Did look chilly but so authentic with a lot of nostalgia. You did your magic again with this video, thank you and see you next week in Nortbumberland

Love all your videos and your sense of humour...just can’t get enough of your travels. Living in Canada where there is snow at least 6 months a year I don’t understand why you are always sooo cold. Kristen if I need a pick me up, I just watch one of your videos and it lifts my spirits! Thank you!🤗
So happy to hear this, thank you!
Loved the Victorian town .Thank you .
Talk Talk So pleased to hear it, thank you.
Kirsten: Did you enjoy it ? Me: Oh yes !! Then Joerg answers I remember she was asking him !! Its easy to get very caught up in your videos ! This place is about 20 mins from me !! XX
Awww thank you so much. You should go and visit, it's lovely.
@Autumnal sunset 😅 Me too !! Thought she asks me 😯 It is like being with them.....
@@bookprincess612 Yes, it is !!
My two favorite people ❤️
Thank you!
Another winner! Looking forward very much to the next adventure 😊
Thank YOU!
What an incredible travel in time! Thank you so much for another wonderful video!
Thanks so much Louise!
Absolutely amazing!! We have something similar here in North Carolina called Olde Salem. Love all the shops especially the dress shop!!
MoodyGirl Beauty Thanks so much!
What a lovely tour. I was thinking to ask about the weight of those hats, Kirsten, when you answered my question. They looked very heavy indeed. What a lovely tour, thank you! As always, your music was so enjoyed. Hope you thawed out nicely.😉
Thanks so much!
Absolutely lovely! I enjoyed very much being back in time with you. 🤗❤️
Thanks so much!
You guys are such an adorable couple! It's been great taking these lovely walks throughout England with you. I've just found you and instantly became a fan!! I hope someday you can go to Jane Austen's House and take us with you! Best regards from Brazil!
Thank you so much! Oh we went to the Jane Austen Museum last April and it was so amazing. Unfortunately that's on our German channel.
Waited all day to enjoy this. Looks like the town waits for you two to enjoy smilexo thank you for the lovely tour.....🤗🤗❤❤
Thanks so much!
This was a truly delightful visit. Thanks for sharing it with us. Love from the USA.
Thanks so much!
Very pioneer, lovely shop. Glad you both are having a wonderful day.
Thanks so much Courtney. Oh yes, wouldn't want to wear a bulky hat all day.
@@KirstenJoerg Happy you feel better... xx Yes, it is a lot of snow though you had so much rain lately... I hope you were okay...
@@gaenadasylva Thanks so much. Yes, we are quite lucky here, some people in the North had bad flooding though.
what a wonderful place ! i could play there during
days . Thanks Kirsten to share all your fabulous moments , it makes me so happy and your voice destressed me so much ! have a sweet day !
Thanks so much!
It feels like I’m from a past life looking at all that, my mum was born in 1933 she told me all about her upbringing and all the recipes her granny would teach her looking at these little shops and product bottles it’s just a dream, I’ve often dreamed about finding a place like this I wish there was a time machine what year and place would you travel back too 😊
Oh my mouth is watering,what a tease🙂
I love nostalgia, travelling back in time. I enjoyed watching your trip to Blists Hill, experiencing how life was for people back then. Thank you for sharing.
Ein toller Ausflug.
Fascinierend um zu sehen wie andere Generationen gelebt haben.
Danke für den tollen Ausflug.
Freue mich auch auf das nächste Video.
Liebe Grüsse
Vielen Dank liebe Marianne!
What a nice time we had! I felt as though I entered each shop with you. Thanks again for sharing. 💖💖
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much!
I love, love your videos! Thank you sooo much! And warm hugs from Russia!
We have to thank YOU!
How interesting. We have The American Folk Park near by.Something similar.Very worth seeing.Thankyou Both.🐥🐥🐇🐇🐑🐑
That sounds great! Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks so much for watching Zelda. Oh dear, teachers were so horrible back then.
What a delightful place to visit...adored the hats..reminded me of my mother &I trying on hats once & giggling over them....I could almost taste the chips, only Britain does them right..thanks for the outing
Thanks so much Linda!
Thanks so much Betty.
I watch all your videos over and over, love them that much. Those villages, cottages, castles etc. make me feel good watching them.Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Fascinating tour, you are excellent because every week I look forward to see if you post a video, all of them are great, thank you very much
Thanks so much!
Great video! Thanks Kirsten! Greatly admire Joerg’s peaceful demeanor!
Thanks so much Charles.
What a lovely living museum. I likes when the Bobby cycles past. So many different things to see
Thanks so much for watching.
What an interesting place - thanks for showing us. I love the way you always incorporate food or cafes into your videos. Looking forward to the next one! ☕️
Thanks so much Stefani.
Very interesting, thank you, 😍enjoyed the Victorian clothing shop, you suit hats🤗
Thanks so much Petra!
What a delightful village. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching.
The bonnet is such a sensible design. I wish we could wear them today, without being stared at. Loved the classroom scene!
Oh yes me too, this is exactly what I said to Joerg - they are so great for sun protection and just amazing.
Hi Kristen and Joerg...
Living museums are great fun, full of historical items and building. That school master was master indeed...yikes!! Home made soup will hit the spot...We too have a living museum in our town/city. Steinbach Heritage Museum in Manitoba Canada...(I'm sure they have a web site...)
it too is very cool, with a huge windmill...Low German immigrants from Germany, Russia and Prussia and there way of life back in the day.
Thanks for the tour it was fun. Time to get home and warm up...❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼
Tracy🇨🇦
Thanks so much for watching Tracy. Yes, the teacher was horrible but very good in his role to show us how it was back in the day so it was great to experience it.
What a fun & interesting day out. It’s great to be able to visit places with you both through your delightful, charming & very professionally made films.
Thanks so much Margaret.
Thanks so much for watching Gill.
Some day I may get to England to see all the places you have shown. We have a place in Sturbridge Massachusetts which you could compare to Blists Hill, and I’ve visited there and loved it. Love your videos 🥰
Oh I bet it's beautiful there Claudine. Thanks so much for watching.
I live over by Worcester MA and all the time I was watching this I was thinking of Old Sturbidge Village. Hello to my neighbor in MA. We both love England as well as Kirsten's wonderful channel. Small world 😘🥰🥰😘
Hi Kirsten and joerg what a lovely place to visit lovely to back in time with all of the shops and to see how people lived back then beautiful things they don’t make things like that anymore a step back in time great vlog
Love all your videos and your sense of humour...just can’t get enough of your travels. Living in Canada where there is snow at least 6 months a year I don’t understand why you are always sooo cold. Don’t they have warm clothing to keep you both warm. I feel terrible for the two of you . Wish you had nice warm clothes as you travel about and share your videos with us . ❤️❤️
That was so much fun. I loved every step! Thank you so much! Love from Idaho
Thanks so much Latricia!
'hi Kirsten and Jorge..'thankyou for taking us on this journey of 'Blist Hills Victorian Town'...sharing with us one of your favorite places..it has become my fav too'🤗
