There have been a number of Radio programs on Jackie. In ENGLAND, BBC Radio did a 4 part, 2 hour series on Jackie with interviews by Johnny Otis, Paul Williams, of "The Temptations", Allan Toussaint, and many others. In Europe, he's still very popular. In England, in 1987, two years after Jackie had passed away, they re-issued his first record from 1957, "Reet Petite"..it went to #1 and became a major hit throughout Europe. I have seen Jackie perform LIVE approximately 150 times, and NOBODY could come close to this man's talent then or now. He was the reason God created music. There will never be another like him.
Pertaining to his RANGE, he was blessed with 4 octaves that caused OPERATIC tenors to envy him. There was no need for head notes or falsesetto. Sadly, his producer banked all his money in the name of his own son even before he was born. JACKIE Wilson died a POOR man. They could hardly afford a decent cast and grave for his burial! Recollection from my research of his life is that he was only in his beginning forties.
I was watching a show for hall of game. There were four guys singing doo wop then then they brought this young fella and and I'm watching them. I'm saying to myself he looks like a singer from my time I'm 77 and this was 2014 or something like that his name which was Bobby Brokes Wilson. He is Jackie's Wilson son.Look him up on you tube.
Hay you guys look up Bobby Brooks Wilson. He is Jackie's son. He looks just like them walks like them who's around on the stage like them he sounds like them
Absolutely no offense to this Bobby fella, but there is ONLY ONE Jackie Wilson. Never to be duplicated. When you’re used to hearing JW sing a song, there’s a specific pitch, specific phrasing, he pronounces words in a specific way, we all do…but when you hear MISTER Jackie Wilson sing and then hear a cover, an impersonation, etc., you just know when it isn’t him. It’s not until you hear other attempts that you realize, whoa, Jackie is something special ! ! ! That’s exactly what made Jackie so unique. I listen to Roy Brown, Roy Hamilton, and even Eddie Holland…in my opinion, and it’s only an opinion, they come closer to a Jackie Wilson tenor style of singing and pitch than anyone I’ve ever heard. I knew Lonely Teardrops and Night were not easy songs to sing…but Higher & Higher, an otherwise typical song from that era, is so unique due to JW’s touch. And higher & higher isn’t even Jackie at full range….NOW listen to anyone else try to sing it, that’s when you realize even Jackie’s quarter speed is better than most at full speed. We won’t even talk about Jackie’s dancing!!
Oh what fun we had dancing to the real rock'n roll on Jackie Wilson's magic music and thrilling voice! In the apparent musical agitation there was a true sophistication unknown these days.

What can I say about Jackie Wilson, unbelievable talent and energy, you can't stop looking at him, afraid you will miss a dance move. Big Elvis fan, but I got to put Jackie Wilson in his own group. Just that good. Never see talent like this again.
Jackie is still as exciting now as in the my growing up years in the 50's and 60's. His voice is incomparable, his charisma and sexiness can't be duplicated though many have tried. Love that his music is still being recognized and enjoyed. RIP my brother.
Okay we need a Jackie Wilson movie this is a great entertainer what a voice and the moves are great you know he use to be a boxer he showing those moves love this man
Love, Love, LOVE everything about Jackie... His style, his humour, his engagement with the audience & most of all, the way he makes you feel he's singing just for you, with that incredible range. Saw a great clip from the Sullivan show where he's singing live (I think the music & backing was taped but Jackie certainly wasn't). Pitch perfect, cheeky & dancing to boot. Show me an entertainer today with that combination of ingredients AND charisma - Top drawer entertainer & still as loved today as ever & STILL being danced to here in the UK every week too - thanks for posting :)
Dave Agree Jackie finally got a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame September 2019. I was there. Sad he wasn’t. Why can’t we honor legends while they are living?
Dave - I Totally Agree with you!👍🏼 Jackie Wilson was way ahead of his time... he definitely set the standard for Elvis, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke and others that followed... Chris Brown.
@@user-qc8vj3vp9v And yet Jackie Wilson isn’t hailed and regarded as a huge and widely important figure to music. When speaking of that era you always hear, Elvis, James Brown, Sam Cooke, etc., ALL of whom were SUPER stars and should be recognized. But for Jackie Wilson to often times be absent from the conversation is just a flat out disrespect and disregard for what he brought to the industry and for who he inspired, influenced and impacted.
Elvis went to Jackie Wilson when he got out of the service because he knew he could not "MOVE" like he did before he went in. Jackie Wilson taught Elvis his moves and Elvis copied them. And they both look GREAT.
I love She's Alright..." I was so sick and couldn't get well, I was hungry and helpful and she came a running, got down on her knees and said, Jackie I want to wipe your brow...she said Jackie darling you got a FEVER, A FEVER...and I'm gonna make you alright." .great Pure church. those dance moves at the end of Baby Workout are incredible. shows his boxing training and he defies gravity..amazing dance combo.
Yes, and I also saw where MJ got a few of his moves! He always said How Jackie Wilson, David Ruffin, and James Brown all had a profound effect on him as he was growing up.
Jackie had to tame his recorded performances. But off the air, he was 100x more explosive! That’s why other artists literally flocked to his shows to catch a glimpse of his raw talent.
I’ve heard that before. I’ve also heard fans who’ve had the privilege to see both Jackie Wilson and James Brown, say Jackie Wilson had a crazy, off the hook, better live performance than even James Brown! Too bad JW has very limited recorded material of his live dancing.
My mom went to see Mr. Excitement perform live and she said the man could sing and dance. She said he would do splits down the stairs and the women would throw their undergarments on stage.
My compliments to you Omar Shabazz for uploading this fine show.....clear proof that Jackie Wilson was truly a once in a lifetime rare kind of talent . I was fortunate to have been a New York City recording engineer and was a friend and fan of Jackie Wilson and saw him perform at the New York City Apollo theatre about 6 times in the year 1966....often from backstage , as Jackie graciously invited me backstage anytime he knew I was around . Once again Omar....nice going....let the Utube viewers witness the extraordinary talent of Jackie Wilson .
Wow, Mike you knew Jackie, that's awesome! We used to see him on tv all the time from the 1950's into the 60's. On a sad note, I clearly remember how ugly white racism reared it's head attempting to hurt this handsome soul brother we knew has Jackie Wilson. I can't recall exactly which children's television show use to show a hand puppet that looked similar to Hermit The Frog singing along to Mr. Wilson's music. And even though we were kids, we were offended by it and were sensitive enough to know it wasn't fair. There is on youtube right now puppets in the forms of frogs singing Jackie's music which goes to show racism never dies. Why use a reptile to mock a very dapper looking handsome African-American man? I was wondering if you know of this and if you knew how Jackie felt about it?
omar shabazz I don't remember the puppet scenario.....there have been cartoon videos of Jackie's Reet Petite produced in England ....but not at all on a disrespectful level . As far as how Jackie felt about racism.....he thought it was despicable.....and didn't like it coming from anyone . Jackie didn't like performing to segregated audiences.... He really loved all humans ...as long as they were of a good heart and character . He had girlfriends of all colors.....It was the quality and character that mattered . Jackie actually converted to Judaism around the year 1968.....a true indication that he was a person of deep insights Please checkout my UTUBE playlist titled " "JACKIE WILSON'S BEST" for photos of Jackie and myself backstage at the New York City Apollo theatre . Anyway....any fan of the legendary Jackie Wilson is a friend of mine....so best wishes to you and yours .
@@omarshabazz9610Jackie should have been on Motown, big hits Barry had with Jackie started the Detroit label and he would have been huge, should have at least been equal fame-wise with Elvis as his talent was far greater, they both hit big at the same time but management wise Jackie got the shaft...became a fan when I was around eight and still love him madly, didn't feel that it was racism that hurt his career, he had big Top Forty hits and white kids loved him, also didn't hurt he was incredibly handsome and really knew how to move!
@@TheShabazzProduction ....Yes it's true Omar , it was me.....When Bobby "Blue" Bland passed away in the year 2013 at the age of 83 , we definitely lost an extraordinary talent....a sophisticated perfectionist with uncompromising standards . And it's true , I have over 100 original recordings on vinyl and CDs by Bobby and they represent his superb timeless talent . So between Jackie Wilson , Sam Cooke . Brook Benton , Rudy Lewis ( of The Drifters) , Tommy Edwards ,Tommy Hunt , Chuck Jackson , The Miracles ...just to name a few .....I have at least 10,000 original vinyl recordings in mint condition that soothe my musical soul on a regular basis . Jackie was the ultimate entertainer. Dancing his buns off while singing with the most amazing voice ever! His 4 octave range was beautiful. His ad lobbing to audience while singing was delightful. Would have loved to see him perform with Tina Gurner. The 2 best by far. ⚘💫🎶⚘I feel very badly for Bobby Brooks Wilson. Who idolized Jackie as a teen not even knowing he was his father. Now he has all these wonderful films, videos and albums of his dad.....And can't embrace or even let his dad know he existed . Has to be a terrible longing to meet, talk and sing with his dad.
James Brown wished he could sing like Jackie. Michael Jackson was mega-influenced by Jackie's exciting performances. The Beatles tried singing 'woooh' like Jackie. Elvis was also in awe of Jackie's singing prowess. Wilson was a shining star. So sad that he got snuffed out in his youth.

I feel you completely on all that you said Allen!!!
Charm Charisma Class n Super Doopa Smooth and Handsome too! ❤️🦋
no argument here my friend.
Jackie is still as exciting now as in the my growing up years in the 50's and 60's. His voice is incomparable, his charisma and sexiness can't be duplicated though many have tried. Love that his music is still being recognized and enjoyed. RIP my brother.
He is pull your hair out fabulous!
Mr Excitement there was no other one of a kind entertainer
Classic coolness, classy and cool....a great human being....Thanks Jackie.
Thank God for Internet. Without Internet we would have never known about the great artists before our time. Just rumors and hearsay.
Okay we need a Jackie Wilson movie this is a great entertainer what a voice and the moves are great you know he use to be a boxer he showing those moves love this man
The one and only "Mr Excitement" !
My idol! His music still inspires me to dance. Thank you Mr. Excitement!
The Name Mr. Excitement fits because it Served its Purpose. Jackie Wilson was one of the Greatest that ever Graced the Stage!!!!
He was the king, what a voice.

what a talent this guy was, miss u JW .
Also sang with Motown band...The Funk Brothers 👍🏿
Mic drop! Dave no arguments here!!!
The originator of it all. You can see where Sam Cook, Elvis, Michael Jackson, and James Brown all got their inspiration .
Jackie Wilson is just another Elvis impersonator.
@@mariogmajner6549 Elvis would strongly disagree.
No, not Sam Cooke. Sam was in a different league, Jackie would affirm.
@@mariogmajner6549 and what are u..a creature
Keyboard is killing it.
One of the greatest entertainers ever
I wished that he could have been on the motown record label, with his cousin, Levi Stubbs.
one of the greatest!
Yes, especially Elvis Presley. He loved Jackie.
@@GoldFinger34... I saw James Brown and I've seen Jackie...James could not touch Jackie. J
My mom went to see Mr. Excitement perform live and she said the man could sing and dance. She said he would do splits down the stairs and the women would throw their undergarments on stage.
@@alatherleyI had the same pleasure.

THANK OMAR. I LOVE WILSON.
He definitely was "Mr. Excitement"
Jackie actually converted to Judaism around the year 1968.....a true indication that he was a person of deep insights
Please checkout my UTUBE playlist titled " "JACKIE WILSON'S BEST" for photos of Jackie and myself backstage at the New York City Apollo theatre .
Mike I just realized that you are the man that left a great comment about your admiration for
Bobby Bland and your great record collection on him.
So thankyou Omar for remembering me and my comment , and I hope you are well and doing well and are happy .
Sincerely Mike Vallen .
Jackie takin em to church!
Thank You for posting this very well put together recording / performance of Jackie ( Mr. Excitement ) Wilson ☺once again Omar thank you 🎶🎵🎇🎼🎶🎇🎵 November 18,2019
This shit just rocks!!!!!!! Don't you just love excellence?
Wow! Nothing today compares.
We were spoilt back then for music. Tamla is It's still fresh and exciting after all these years and I never tire of listening to this song.
Wow! He worked it out!
Footwork in "Work Out," !!!

I just realized that's Billy Preston on the organ
Thanks for mentioning! I was wondering about that. I love his style there. Not to detract from Jackie Wilson though.
And Darlene Love in the background
Yes he was great on the combo piano and Organ.
Kick ass house band and singers.
Up and down the line.
Who are the backup singers
Nice compilation.
All I can say is just (WOW)!!!!"😍😍😍😍🌹
James Brown wished he could sing like Jackie. Michael Jackson was mega-influenced by Jackie's exciting performances. The Beatles tried singing 'woooh' like Jackie. Elvis was also in awe of Jackie's singing prowess. Wilson was a shining star. So sad that he got snuffed out in his youth.
Be still my heart; I love the artistic genius of this superstar.
Gracias Jackie .🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
Unbelievable all round super talent...
A star was truly born!
