My G502X actually managed to start double clicking on one of the side buttons. I am very impressed that they managed to squeeze that defect into a mouse that was supposed to be "double click" proof.
My main concern was for the missing dedicated DPI levels indicator and whether the on-board memory profiles are still present (to use the mouse without the software running in the background). And you've covered all of that, so thank you very much for the review!!!
i have 4 year old 502 hero and it started double clicking only in last few months.. the workaround ive found is to take it to bathroom while i take hot shower.. keep it at top to soak in moisture then it will be good for a week .. :) have to replace it with 502x soon.
Been using the new one since launch, amazing mouse. Went with the 502 x plus the wireless one with rgb. No issues still as good as the day I bought it. The build quality on the new ones are SO much better!
I am still daily driving the original G502 (Proteus Core) . Its so surprising that it has lasted me this long. I bought it back in 2014 and it might be the only thing which has lasted me this long. After about 2 years, I had the double click issue but it was magically resolved. It has worked fine ever since then. I absolutely love its shape and it is very comfortable. I only played League of Legends (a MOBA) so the weight has never bothered me, but it really starts feeling like an issue ever since I have started playing valorant. The feet have worn out. The button for free spinning scroll has problems and the scroll weel itself has lost its pronounced steps in the standard mode. It works fine but I think I am due for a new one. I was looking for a wireless and light mouse so I narrowed it down the Orochi V2 or the Logitech G304. Now thanks to your review, I am going to add the G502X to the list too now (wired though). I never looked at the G502 varirants because I assumed they were all too heavy, but the G502X seems like an amazing compromise. Looking forward to the Basilisk Comparison and more mouse reviews!
Apparently the double click was caused by logitech running the old omron switches out of specification causing them to spoil before they ran out clicks. The new switches are developed in house so i hope they last longer.
Yeah, I did watch a 1+hour long video on that topic, and I am surprised this wasn't addressed earlier. Their MX Master series doesn't face the same issue, even without optical switches.
I don't know what you're talking about, I had the G502 (the first model, the Proteus Core) since like 2015-2016 and it just started double clicking very recently, and just the left button the others still work fine...
I have been using my G502 hero since Christmas of 2018 and have had 0 issues with it at all. I am a GD player as well so any sort of double click would be super easy to notice and make the game unplayable
Pretty much in the same boat. Had the G5 back in 2008, used it for 5 years, no issues, upgraded to g500 and it did wear out after couple of years, now using G502 Hero for the past 6 years without issues. Only looking at upgrading it because of wireless capabilities, but will prolly hold until it starts to double click (I did solve the g500 by resodering the switches, but got no use for it)
I have the original 502 from 2015 and I use it for 10 hours a day sometimes even 16 hours a day for over 9 years now. Gaming/work/internet browsing everything. The rubber sides are completely worn down from 9 years of very very heavy use. But I never had any double clicking issues. Actually all the buttons still work perfectly 🤷♂
I wonder what or how people can have a literal drawer of broken logitech mice. I got my g203 in 2016 or 2017 literally over 6 years ago and due to the fact that clicks broke in and are slightly lighter now it's even better than when I bought it. Now to be fair, I am not the biggest fan of that mouse and I would not buy it again due to the shape that I grew to dislike my hand just starts hurting after a while. But as quality goes or doulbe clicking, I've absolute 0 complaints.
Loved the original Basilisk, and Basilisk X Hyperspeed, but lately I broke the X and replaced it with the X V3... The non-removable clutch is completely blocking my grip and there's no way I could use it, so I had to return it. I must have the ergo shape or my entire arm becomes useless, so I guess I'll try this one, as it fits my budget and it has everything I want... mostly. Wireless is almost twice the price.
i cant lie my g502 has lasted me years until recently when i spilt beer on it, i need a new mouse and this one and the old g502 hero are the best looking value for money options
I currently use a Logitech G502 x wired and a Corsair SABRE RGB PRO CHAMPION SERIES and a Corsar Harpoon PRO RGB. All mice are wired of course but for me its like this: - Logitech G502 x wired is feeling nice but too flat. Setup was annoying hard since first the software wouldn´t recognise the mouse and to begin with I wasn´t told which software to install anyway. - Corsar Harpoon PRO RGB has a weird position for the wire not being centered giving you constant side drag and poor build quality especially with the mouse wheel failing after a year. -- Corsair SABRE RGB PRO CHAMPION SERIES is my absolute favourite. Although the sensor failed after a year (got my money back though) this mouse has the best feeling for grown up man hands, buttons and wheel are extremely quiet (not like the Logitech) and it is rather cheap. Unlike the Logitech it doesn´t come with dpi buttons but after setting it up in the Windows setup I never felt the urge to change anything unlike with the Logitech. TLDR: Logitech has so far the most modern technic, the Corsair SABRE RGB PRO CHAMPION SERIES feels best, is quiet and will fail within its 2 year guarantee span. Oh and the absolute most important I forgot to add: the SABRE RGB PRO CHAMPION SERIES doesn´t feature any TPE which makes it non sticky and very easy to clean. Although I went through multiple Corsair mixe of the same model they all broke at the sensor, mouse wheel and /or buttons, but I always got my money back. My "pro" tip, never buy a mouse with battery (unless it can be easily changed in the future when it breaks), never buy mice with TPE (it gets sticky over time), never buy mice beyond 65€ (it´s just overpriced at that point). I can say that after decades of gaming since I started with a Sinclair Spectrum and the Amica 500 in the 80´s. Hope I could help.
Can't wait for the next video , as I am debating between g502x and basilisk v3 Also on md computers the g502x is available for 5.5k and basilisk v3 for 3.8k on elitehubs Also can you speak about the rubber grips on the left and right sides of both mice which seem to be part of mouse mold and once they wear they can't be replaced, maybe tips on how to preserve them
I've had the original 502 for 5 years now and it's only just rubbed down to the plastic through the rubber on one of the sides, though my climate isn't as hot as some countries and in warmer climates it might be faster.
Im using G502 hero, it had double click problems but exchange this part - problem is left grisp is used to plastic, today i received g502x and its.... terrible imo, looks like chinese cheap option, am i missing something?

Never buy logitech mouse. My experience :- My first logitech MMO mouse G600 (~5000 INR) was good till it started showing double click issue. My second logitech mouse G502 (~4000 INR) left mouse click stopped working in 1.5 years. I went to the service center. They gave me the order no. and told we will replace it. It's been over a month and they are still saying we don't have the mouse right now. I am still waiting for replacement. Worst experience for considering the price of the mouse. Better to go for cheap Chinese mouse and if it expires the let it go. Atleast in name of brand warranty you will not be harassed.
Felt very much like the Tibetan tea we ordered. Looked promising, but the fact that it was salty was unexpected, but not necessarily in a bad way, and one might get used to it after some time.

So does this mouse light up? I hate Razor. I've had 2 break on me at the 2 years mark exactly. I had a MMO Logitech for years and it never broke.
It doesn't light up, I think there's a plus version with wireless connectivity, which does light up.
question, is the scroll wheel made of metal or just plastic
Plastic, covered with rubber.
I've had a G502 Proteus for 10 years that has no double clicking issue. Clearly some people abuse their electronics

I've made a video comparison of both of those mice, you can watch that.
