What astonishing singing. Here is everything we could ask for in an Amneris, a beautiful powerful voice, and a well acted sympathetic (rather than pathetic) unrequited love. Thoughtfully and creatively shot/staged.

She has truly one of the greatest voices in opera. I've heard her sing other roles, but this is perfect ! Her technique is flawless.

This is some of my favorite music in Verdi. Amneris can bring the house down with this most desperate, conflicted, guilt ridden, heart breaking heart broken moments in all opera. This is not a moment for well rounded beautiful tones; this is the moment for manic rage, desperate loss, and emotional exhaustion.

Years ago I got to see Ms. Toczyska in Aida. She was THE BEST Amneris I’ve ever seen live. Amneris is still my favorite character in the opera and has the most amazing music, in my opinion. And Ms. Toczyska doesn’t waste a note. She’s absolutely incandescent!!!!!
I do wish singers today sung with such ease, expression, CLEAR PURE VOWELS and diction, and fully incorporated REAL CEST registration like the Great Stefania Toczyska. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Stefania Toczyska, z domu Krzywińska - wybitna polska śpiewaczka . Piękny mezzosopran - głos wyrazisty i zdecydowany. Słuchanie jej śpiewu to czysta przyjemność.

The dress is everything! Her voice is lovely, and I am obsessing over her mouth and the way she forms her vowels. As far as her acting, it's the best I've seen in this role.

Fabulous. One of my favorite productions with a glittering cast. Thanks to being a fan of the Great Domingo, I was introduced to the magnificent Miss Toczyska as Amneris. Brava. Paz.

Haunting cry for pity, loved every part of it. Great appoggiatura.
And who said Domingo is a horrific Radames?

Who said PD was a terrible Radames. He's terrific-vocally, musically and dramatically.

this whole scene is the actual key-center of the main opera theme, and makes you wonder if maybe the title and focus about Aida as lead-character actually is missleading and Verdi instead wanted to have Amneris as the big real thing of the story, but as she was a very complex character fitted for a rather unusual type of voice for leading roles at his time and he wasn´t enough bolder to break with traditions as other authors did about the same time (mostly Bizet with Carmen but also Saint Saens with Delilah and Thomas with Mignon all main-lead roles for non-soprano voices) so he kinda played safer on the promotion of the opera and the choice of having Aida get her main scene at the middle of the opera, however... Verdi was smarter to make this happens somewhere after that and before the ending about at 3/4 of the opera where actually this is the dramatic climax of the story and have Amneris get all the main role on scene, so... only then people realize and get that the title role is very misleading one indeed!
