Hi! My name is MrGuybrush, streamer and youtuber, and for the past weeks I've been very interested in the lore of League of Legends, mainly because of Arcane. I've never played LoL so I'm just focusing on the lore for now. I want to learn the story to enjoy more the upcoming MMORPG, whenever that happens. I'm deep diving into ALL the lore available as well as cinematics.

Keep in mind that all you can see and read on the Universe page was made before Arcane release, and it can be very different from what we saw in the show (for example in Arcane Piltover is separated from Zaun by the river, but in old lore it's literally above Zaun, like you saw on the artworks). When Arcane came out it was more of a story in parallel Uneverse Piltover and Zaun, but recently Riot decided to make Arcane fully canon and also unify all their stories that have inconsistencies in them. So if anything contradicts Arcane, you can either assume it will be shown in season 2 or that it's not canon anymore. Since Arcane only took place in Piltover and Zaun, these two regions are the ones that most affected by these changes in the canon lore, but other regions had some inconsistencies before as well. So right now lore of Runeterra is in a bit of a weird state, where we don't know what's canon or not until Riot explicitly say it. But hopefully before the launch of the MMO they will figure it out (inhales copium).
P.S. There is a comic about Ziggs and Jinx, where they blow up stuff together 😂 It's probably not canon anymore, but it's still a fun read.
P.S.S. Yes, principal writer at Riot, Anthony Reynolds, comes from Warhammer 40k and is currently working on MMO. He also wrote a "Ruination" novel, which is basically Game of Thrones in League of Legends. It's a very good book, I hope you will read it one day 😊
You should react to all the cinematics after exploring every region and champion, they give a lot of insight on the champion's characteristics.

Twitch the Rat for some reason has purple eyes. So he might actually turn out to be the rat from EP 1
Hextech = Blue
Shimmer = Purple
Chemtech = Green
I think a really good video to watch is "The world of riot's MMO is already done" by Necrit. While it is technically focused on the mmo, it also provides a really good overview of the current state of affairs in every region as well as storylines that may play out in every region, including images of landscapes, entities and important lore characters. It's very visually complete and comprehensive.

I really liked this reaction deepdive I hope you do more. It wasn't very clear by her bio but Janna is a wind spirit attracted to zaun because the air is so polluted that she needs to filter the air so people can breathe so people pray to her, also chemtech is an alternative technology of shimmer with was more unstable, also the chembaron takeda is from another region but i won't spoil it for you(but some people propably will) so if you explore more you can look back on it and see the connections.

It was probably mentioned in a short story of how she helped Zaun.
it's not that she was atracted to Zaun, she was here when it was still named Nashravazaun, before Shurima conquered it and before piltover existed
with Zaun without a leader after Silco's death I really hope Renata Glasc takes his place, she's such a cool character
Would like that, but I need to see an Urgot in season 2, specially with Noxus entering the game
I'd love to see the deepdives into each character, starting from piltover and zaun would be cool.
You could read each champion bio and maybe one of their short stories in the deep dive video of that champ. Each champion has a small paragraph (the one you read on this video), a biography which is the longer version and at least one short story, but some have more than that.
Also, each region has short stories too that aren't necessarily tied to one specific champion so they put them in the region page instead.
Shimmer before arcane wasn't a big thing, it was barely mentioned, chemtech was a more heard of term. It wasn't purple either, that was also introduced in arcane, we only had the green chemtech. You'll see renata uses purple chemtech, thats because she came out after Arcane.
So maybe we'll see them slowly introducing it into the lore.
If you plan on doing the deepdives, I'd recommend checking on the video formats that other reactors uses, like avanteplays, you could react to their bio, art, short story, skins, wiki page for missing information that they dont put in the champion page, and voicelines/interactions.
Also, one suggestion, you have to do Viktor and Jayce's bios back to back, it's really worth it.
Anthony Reynolds is the Warhammer writer you mention, he also wrote the Ruination book for league, really recommend it.

Great video! It's the first time I actually get to see someone getting to know league lore without a few months delay from me noticing.
I think eventually listening to voice-lines could also be really cool! Through them, you can really understand how certain characters act and what they think about some other characters. Just gotta remember that voice-lines aren't always canon, since they're designed for the summoner's rift, which isn't really canon and exists outside of space and time.

@@MrGuybrush After you're done with that, I would 100% recommend watching Necrit's lore video on the Darkin War and then listening to Aatrox's voicelines specifically - it's one of the highest quality out of all of them and I think you would be pleasantly surprised much like a lot of other youtubers I watched!

No, that chubby woman was not the potion maker from Arcane. The potion maker was not human.

Fun fact: Renata was originally supposed to be Silco but she became her own character. They said they decided to make a new character instead of using Silco because the gameplay wouldn't exactly have fit him. Personally, I think they also didn't want to have characters who are canonically dead appear in the game.
Chemtech means chemical technology. Shimmer is a chemical. It is not the only chemical used in chemtech. Most Chemtech devices have green or yellow chemicals. This is also true in the show. For instance Jinx does not use shimmer in any of her chemtech weapons. While shimmer existed before Arcane it was never as prominent as the show made it.
I think yiu must learn and read more about lore in league kf legends,,that's a great lore..😁

So a little fun fact for you creator man. Renata Glasc is the only champion with a last name and she was originally supposed to be Silco but Riot thought he disnt fit his character

Yes, Viktor created Blitzcrank but a jerk claimed to be the creator. You can read about that in one of his short stories.

zaun is not a some part of piltover it is own city and alywas be. like on arcana they talk like zaun was just part of city whne true is zaun was ancinet shuruma city thme it just grow and then a second city was created from the districts for the rich on the hills. and at first evrything was fine but when piltover and zaou try to created the water crossing is a large part of Zaun, it simply drowned and in addition, the profits from the crossing went to Piltover almost entirely, creating Zaun and Piltover as they are today
Hmmm interesting! I thought what I checked out on this video was basically the present Zaun and the one in Arcane was the pre-indepence Zaun, if that makes sense. I had no idea about its origins, thank you so much!

I'm definitely going to cover each champion, and Janna seems one of the most interesting ones because she looks like she doesn't belong in Zaun at all. I'm excited!
@@MrGuybrush is a bit confusing as the official lore and the arcane lore conflict in places, but originally they used to be one city, but after a massive cavein due to reckless mining, most of zaun sank into the mines. The rich people simply "built over" it, giving it the name Piltover, while the poor people stayed in Zaun

Piltover and Zaun are pretty cool, but in my opinion its one of the worst regions, not because their bad but because the other ones are even better.
My favorites are Ionia and Freljord
I'm very intrigued about the other areas I don't know, I can't wait to check them out and the champions! Freljord is the icy area right? I saw it on Necrit's lore video and it looks very cool and dangerous, considering it has a void portal in there lol

Don't take Arcane as canon, it's a spinoff.
Although, they have been retconning the lore to fit Arcane in.
I believe they mentioned that they have decided to make Arcane cannon and are now reworking the lore to go along with it, getting rid of inconsistencies slowly.
