Perfect. I love Dead music but hated living thru the bootleg era of horrible sound and recordings. Now to have bands and mixes like this (terrapin, shred) that remind me of why this songs are timeless
Another difference is if I hear Hotel California one more damn time I'm gonna PUKE! But , the Dead never get old because there's always something different happening. It really is a lifetime membership! ✌💀👍🎸🎼🎵🎶🧠🌌♾❤🇺🇸
I have been to dozens of Dead shows (starting with the Brent period), and I have never heard energy and musicality from the original Dead that matches these guys. In the end, I love the music and the best interpretation of it. I am so glad that I can hear the songs I love continue to grow and be new again.
Just got over the shock of being amazed at John Mayer with the Dead, and now this, I ask is Dead Music taking over everywhere? This is a brilliant band, superb in all areas.
Keith Turner unlike when i went to my first show, now you get as far as touring 3 very different versions of gd music and each one offers a different take and completely scratches that itch
When the dust settles and the virus has cooled down, the first show I'm going to see is Joe Russo's Almost Dead. Hang in there man, safe passage, and thank you for the fantastic music! Incredible style and technique!
Massive Deadhead here, with Scarlet>Fire ranking as perhaps my favorite song(s) they ever did. This version, though, is surely top 5 material for me. Just when you think each of the three solos has crescendoed, it pushes on to even greater heights. Fantastic stuff. The Dead would be so pleased to hear their music played with such passion and virtuosity. Bursting with excitement to catch y'all in DC in February!
Another level. After Jerry I saw the music as a gift that could be taken away... 20 plus years later.... The Grateful Dead, the music, the reason, they are eternal.
its cliche but Cornell 77's Scarlet into Fire solidified my love. Scholars will debate for years which precise moment it becomes more Fire than Scarlet. where in the transition it does the 180 to the other song. you can't justify the recording as being correct. its like a saying one interpretation of the bible is truer than the next. idk, im just really high
These guys are one big bad loud party! Man, they are something special. Just got home from seeing them with Branford Marsalis and I'm wired! Could've shook these bones for the rest of the night! ✌🏻🤙🏼
Five of the most talented musicians on the planet!! They play with an energy that is true to the Grateful Dead, the energy that Dead & Co. seem to have lost. I would pay twice the price for a ticket to Russo's Almost Dead than Dead & Co (and I've seen both live, not to mention over a 100 GD shows). This is the music that has shaped my life and I am so very happy they are keeping it alive.
Tom Hamilton has been very open in talking about his struggles with depression. I guess I just don't understand enough about that issue, but I can't imagine ever being depressed if I could play so well, so happily. And with such fantastically jamming guys.
@@jartincougheethat’s an unsupported guess. Hamilton spoke about his depression in context of some romantic disappointment actually. Though not directly, I might add.
We are all a big 'little' cult. I am new to Joe Russo and the band. These guys are great. They have embodied the spirit of the music in their playing and the more they play, one can see that they love it. Great Stuff!
If you dig Russo, you should check out some of the stuff he was a part of while The Wetlands was still open. Before there was the Beneveto/Russo Duo, There was the avant-garde jam-jazz outfit Fat Mama, and they were absolutely insane. There's a show in the Ulu collection from Bowery Bowl, 2011 in the Internet Archive with some live clips here that features them too, as this was a Wetlands/ 9/11 tribute show, and both bands used to alternate sets and share the stage together often. This took that template and re-used it. Ulu's no slouch either, so if you like instrumental heavy funk and jazz the entire show is worth your time AND FREE!
I'm embarrassed to say that I have never heard of these guys until a few days ago when and couple friends and I went to see splintered sunlight in Ardmore Pa and my friend Mike mentioned these guys to me, I'm very much loving these guys so far so good, and I will make it a point to get out there and see Jrad!!!
Wow....absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Just a fantastic jam here...amazing! I'm at a loss for words in regard to this jam. I love the keyboard/guitar duel coming out of Scarlet and works as the go-between Scarlet and Fire - the jam sounds to me like a song by The Meters, maybe? I can't put my finger on it. I wish Dave Dreiwitz (bassist) was turned up a little louder. He's amazing here with JRAD as well as with Ween. Thanks for this - it made my day and put a smile on my face!
If Benjy Buttons was into the Dead. Marco you are my favorite kitty cat. The Marco spot at 19:45 can lighten any spirit... jesus christ really where did they even find that fuckin guy? Thanks Chanice for putting me onto the rad!
i have seen the boys 6-7 times and this Fire was my fave. As a matter of fact, of the 100s of dead and derative shows i have seen cant remember a better time. Thats me with hand s raised playing air piano in front of Marco
First time ,these fucking guy,s really ROCK! We’re have I been ,John Mayer really blew me away,I really thought he wasn’t,t on the Bus ,can,t judge a book by it,s cover ,and now I just somehow these guy,s landed on my screen ,Amazing.
at 7:19, is that a guitar sound? And if so, does he use an effect or just use the guitar and that amazing Vox amp? I now have a new found respect for current production Vox!
i was at this show. i’ve been to hundreds of live shows and that marco solo was one of the greatest moments i’ve ever been a part of.
He's fucking incredible. Best of the bunch by far.
I was there too and I 100% agree and I say it often. I go to an insane amount of live music and still come back to this
I agree
It’s magic plain and simple I’m 65 been a head since 71 yeah you’re rt ,jams period
@JohnathanRebel2 19:45. Amazing solo... Love me some Marco.
10 years on this still SLAPS. Congrats frens 🖖
Not quite 8 years. But still great.
Dead Music is like Hotel California, you can check in any time you like, but you can never leave
Keith Turner good comment bro.
Keith Turner man, come on. I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin' eagles, man.
Perfect. I love Dead music but hated living thru the bootleg era of horrible sound and recordings. Now to have bands and mixes like this (terrapin, shred) that remind me of why this songs are timeless
@@d.banerjee4777 You can love the Eagles and The Dead. It's allowed.

Man what can you say! Greatest dead band going right now.
JRAD and Billy and the Kids(when playing) both with Tom Hamilton are by far and away the best Dead incarnations going and it's not even close

JRAD and Billy & The Kids(both with Tom Hamilton) are by far the best Dead incarnations out today and dare I say since Jerry passed
Been listening to Fillmore since 72 so another 15 of this I’m blessd

Check out grateful shred too! They're on youtube
The Shred has a really good help on the way/ franklins tower.
This lead singer sounds and acts exactley like Jerry. He is amazing
@@andrewluksic7297 Tom Hamilton yesss. Not quite exactly, but he has that same nasal tone

Agreed, Dead and Co is the Grateful Dead stadium experience without Jerry or Phil, who tf wants that??
Exactly same tons og gd shows 73-87 these guys are outstanding mezmering

I've listened to Mayer and Billy Strings. But these guys take you out from the 1st note and keep you there. Lordy are they wonderful!
I love Billy Strings, but John Mayer is annoying and too full of himself. I don't like him even a little bit.
@@briano.1503 I hear ya'
@@briano.1503 maybe so. He has the talent to back it up tho. I like both in different ways.
I can never get enough of this video. It's my go-to pick me up whenever I am down. What an amazing moment at BB. Long live JRAD!!!
such a great 'road music' tempo and flavour to the Dead classics!
its been years, and i always come back to this. its perfection, as close as humans can get. 42 days till CT boys and girls, i hope to see you there
It’s on regular can’t stop
so psyched to once again catch these fantastic musicians, this time at the beautiful palace theater in Albany new York.
I’ll see y’all at my first JRAD show when the pandemic is over. WOW this energy is fucking incredible. The music never stops!!

Jesus that was hot! The piano solo was not of this earth.

So much comfortable groove throughout the entire performance. Thanks for posting!
Currently my favorite group right now and I don't see that changing for a long time
Jeeez MARCO!!!!
First time ever hearing these guys. Really fantastic version. As good as I have ever heard.
Jesus Christ. Why haven't I been listening to these guys?
I don't know, but, trust me, you have to start. They are incendiary.
I asked myself the same question after watching their Lockn videos over the last couple years. Amazing band.
I tell everyone this show is one in a million
This band is fantastic... lots of incredible musicians... I was super impressed with the keys on Fire on the Mountain...
Best version of the Grateful Dead EVER - and I pretty much like all of them...
thanks for sharing this with the world! just starting to listen.
Seriously badass- can't believe I just missed these guys! Next time for sure!

Thank you, was stumbling trying to remember the song title - but of course MB knows BT & the MG's.
Tommy Hamilton is an absolute monster, that is all!!

wonder if these guys ever played with Furthur or Phil Lesh and Friends, these guys are pretty legit
Tim Lazar I'm pretty sure Russo played drums for Further and I'd say most of the rest have done P&F
check out PhilRad at the Capitol Theatre. maybe 12.31.15... I think it was three years ago
damn!
Don't you love it when theyre starting up Scarlet and a goddamn ad pops up
Title Should Say: Scarlet Begonias>The National Anthem>Fire on the Mountain
i def caught the radiohead tease... not sure many others did
That was stellar!
Not to mention the Booker T. "Hip Hug-Her" implication
Tommy Scarf Report (3 Year Anniversary Edition): Pink... is that red? We'll call it magenta - with some nice tattering at the edges.
