- I tried my very best to be unbiased for this list, and really, ranking this beautiful men wasn't easy. I changed the ranking so many times, and this is the finish product :) Others on the list may not be conventionally handsome, and you may think "why him?!", but it's just that I'd seen something beautiful in them, so here :)
Please feel free to comment the name of any classic actor that you think I had overlooked.
Thank you. ^_^
All this list proves is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It sure does bogie looks like mr ed in these pics
Agreed
I could have easily cut this list in half and added another 20 names, lol. It's the same as the actress' list all subjective. Lesley Howard....seriously ha ha ha.....to name a few....my Aunt's favorites : Jeff Chandler, John Gavin, Yul Brenner, Franco Nero, Clint Walker....there are so many more
Boyer wtf?
True
ashamed to forget the wonderful, huge and gorgeous actor William Holden voted "Most Popular Male Star of the Year" at the Photoplays Awards in 1954 and 1955 !!!
1-James Dean 2- Alain delon.....
Yes ! Young William Holden was very handsome and charming.
I'M PISSED OFF, MR HOLDEN NEVER GOT A FAIR GO..
I know many of people don't consider this guy a real actor so he gets overlooked, but John Derek had one of the most beautiful faces I have ever seen on screen.
Maybe he was too pretty. Still, he belongs.
My mum said that too he was a hottie john Derek I agree!
several of the eras directors considered Derek as too pretty for leading man roles
that's what I say. used to swoon over him as a teen.
M
Jeffrey Hunter was gorgeous. So was Terrance Stamp, the British actor who played in Billy Budd and Far from the maddening crowd.
Madding not maddening.
He died too young…and yes, he was gorgeous.
Alain delon is literally my definition of beautiful in a man. He is foyn!!!!
Literally never heard of him before... you are right
He was so beautiful. Would always wonder how deep that beauty was.
I fully agree. Alain is not handsome, he is beautiful, all his women co stars pales beside him....
Omg he is so beautiful
Yes Alain Delon was incredibly beautiful.
How could he not be on top of the list.
Most of the other handsome men had flaws after all.
Robert Taylors jawline could have been more defined, Robert Mitchum wasen't exactly handsome, Clark Gables ears were too big, Cooper was too skinny, Montgomery Clifts head a bit to large, and his body to fragile etc... but Alain Delon had a beauty so rare that nothing could or should be improved.
I find that fascinating.
Imagine him bringing lord Elrond into life in "Lord of the rings" in his younger days.
Clint Walker was the all around most handsome man to ever hit Hollywood; he had it all. Great face, wavy black hair, startling blue eyes, dimple in his chin, unbelievable build, as tall as a redwood tree, deep baritone voice, and could sing like an angel. He was also a complete gentleman.
God rest my late Aunt's soul but all she did was fawn over Jeff Chandler and Clint....I know they had great voices along with Gregory Peck.
You should have made the list longer. No Yul Brenner are you kidding me?
He was indeed!
Yes!!
I agree, Janet. and a class act all the way as well. I think Gregory Peck was number 2 but Walker gets my nod at number 1.
Paul Newman is my all time favorite from then until now 2021! So handsome!! Timeless look♥️
I wholeheartedly agree! He was gorgeous
I wholeheartedly agree! Also such a great humamitarian!
Incredible
Newman got better with age. From "The Sting" to the end of his career he aged with grace, gained a sense of authority without ever losing the blue-eyed twinkle. A favorite performance is "Absence of Malice". The height of his screen presence in my opinion.
Perfect
Richard Burton wasn't the most handsome of the lot, but he had incredible presence and could draw the eye in any situation. Truly a great actor...
And an incredible speaking voice to go with it. Current samples on RUclips are on interviews with Dick Cavett that are well worth watching if you haven't seen them already.
@@jakartaman3365 g8
Saw him and Julie Andrews in an original cast revival of "Camelot". He could sure hold a stage, too!
@@jakartaman3365 yes!
No estoy de acuerdo, era muy bello solo que al llegar a los 40 se estropeó mucho, pero cheka las fotos de su juventud, lo tenía todo: hermosura, atractivo sexi y con una personalidad increíbleee 💘
Clark Gable and Cary Grant should always be in the top ten of any list of handsome classic actors.
Exactly
And Rock Hudson.
And James mason
CLARK GABLE had so much work done he no longer looked like himself. False teeth, ears pinned back, nose job, eyebrows reshaped. And he had a girly voice.
Carey Grant for sure.💗💗
Alain Delon and Paul Newman were impossibly gorgeous in their 20s, and were simply gorgeous through the rest of their life ;)
Nope don't like Paul Newman - but I may be the only woman in this planet who doesn't - at least in the Anglo Saxon world - Many Hispanic ladies agree with me though.
@@JeVoudraisDire I can see your point. I like Newman as an actor, but everyone always talks about his baby blue eyes and I think he would actually be fairly ordinary-looking without his eye color. As he once said, if he had brown eyes, he probably wouldn't have been famous.
@@JeVoudraisDire Newman, to me just goodlooking, not handsome. His face had characters such as sexy and sweet, but not my typical of man. You’re not the only one who thinks like that. He simply not our taste.

Where is John Wayne?
#GregoryPeck remains the most gorgeously handsome actor ever. He was *pure Rugged Smoldering Masculinity* and with so many superb screen performances in iconic & memorable films 🌠
beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there may be different strokes for different folks
but Greg's *gentle forlorn squinty knitted eyebrow* and his *mountain deep thunder voice* and his *powerfully steady grand stature* made him hollywood's purest manly masculine beauty EVER 💙

#2 for me there is a lot who tie for second place : Cary Grant, Sidney Poitier, Michael Caine, Omar Sharif, Christoher Plummer, Peter O'Toole, Tom Hanks, Viggo Mortensen, Colin Firth, Matthias Schoenart, Idris Elba, Mads Mikkelsen 💙 and top number #1 is ofcourse the thoroughly incomparably magnificent & beautifully ruggedly soulfully handsome GREAT GRAND & GORGEOUS Gregory Peck
I agree that Peck was Gorgeous and Cary Grant
Beautifully put together and I thoroughly enjoyed this! I may have switched a few around in the ranks, but overall I agree with your picks. I missed Peter O'Toole - What a beautiful man. I would have had Monty Clift and Tyrone Power a bit further up on the list. Great job!
Alain Delon was the most breathtakingly handsome actor ever
But I don't like his personality.
Fake egocentric narcicistic he most likely cover up for a mob killing in france inbolving a french prime where his house was used for set up epstein like for sex parties.
I completely agree.
@@tonisumblin2719 yes.. Lucky to hv seen alain d. In person years ago in holland.. More handsome in person.. Smooth complexioned.. Fine features.. Clear blue eyes.. Charming with fans..
@@maloudelosreyes661 oh you were lucky. Recently I watched a movie called Rocco and his brothers. It was a very good movie, he was Rocco, and the close ups of him, oh my God! . I kept rewinding it. 😁. He was so gorgeous.
I watched that movie so many times that my kids told me one day they’ll turn on the tv and I’ll be in that movie, because I crawled into it. I told them I hope so. Just to be with Alain Delon. 🥰
It wasn't so much how handsome they were it was their charisma that made them drop dead gorgeous and we fell head over heels.
Fred Astaire was a strange looking fellow but he exuded charm! Did I miss Jimmy Stewart?
Good point Jana.
H Bogart was not that handsome to me, but once you finished watching this charismatic actor, he was very appealing.
So true
I agree. For instance, I think Robert Redford should have been on the list, but he doesn't have as much screen appeal as Fonda or Stewart.
Humphrey Bogart is one of my favorite actors, but, I never considered him one of the most handsome!
Yea quite agree. My all time favourite was Robert Horton . Flint McCullough on wagon train. A real hunk!
I didn't think that he was handsome at all.
thank you he was not handsome but talented yeah all day and night long
Now I have the reverse opinion of Paul Newman; he was very handsome, but, just not a favorite actor of mine.
Same with James Cagney. I adore his work. I love him. He was cute in the golden days but he was a well skilled craftsman of the art. Love Cagney so much.Bogart too.
I agree with your number one pick. Robert Taylor was incredibly gorgeous. I would have assigned the 4 previous picks to Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis and Alain Delon in that order
Agreed- he was breathtakingly beautiful.
Clint Walker... the rest of these were woosy looking in comparison.
Gregory Peck is my number one , a very beautiful man and wonderful actor with a voice I could listen to all day !😍
Agree!!!
Yes yes yes
Yes, mine too!!!!
yes! His voice was incredible!
My fave too.
The young Gary Cooper has my vote for No. 1. Unlike shorter guys like Alain Delon, James Dean, or Paul Newman, Cooper had the complete package. He was beautiful, tall, elegant, incredibly stylish, and looked great in everything. He was like a male model before there were male models. His looks and style were legendary.
Agree
Looking like a million dollar trooper - super duper, Gary Cooper. He did have a very masculine gentleness about him. Loved him when paired up with Barbara Stanwyck. She played off him so well, bringing out his boyish shyness and charm: "Meet John Doe" and "Ball of Fire", both free on RUclips.
Same opinion 😊
Yes, Gary Cooper is definitly the best!
Alen Delon !!!
Robert Taylor was the most handsome actor. His look was like a Greek God. His dark hair and blue eyes were amazing. He left too soon. Rest in piece, Robert. 😂🙏💓
peace, not piece
Glad he married Barbara Stanwyck (my favorite actress of all time). Glad for her she had such a catch -- at least for a while. And nothing lasts forever anyway.
@tml I never met her and don't listen to gossip. Sorry.
One of the interesting things about his kind of attractive is that he didn't lose it as he aged. He was - rather an odd choice for him, I thought, and perhaps he was also an odd choice for the role: A really fluff movie, "Wherever Angels Go, Trouble Follows". He was a well-heeled rancher and paterfamilias to a crew of sons old enough to be interested in and interesting to a bus full of Catholic Girls School teenage females when the bus has broken down near his ranch. STILL mighty fine man!
No Rock Hudson has that title
Cracking selection! Beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder ! Cary Grant, no. 26 ? What are you thinking!! 😂
Gregory Peck for me was the most handsome man ever. The photo's of him here certainly don't do him justice !!
What about William Holden?
Love him too!
He was Still Handsome up to the moment he passed
yes #GregoryPeck remains the most gorgeously handsome actor ever 💙 he was pure Rugged Smoldering Masculinity, and with so many superb screen performances in iconic & memorable films 🌠
I loved Robert Taylor and agree that he was extraordinarily handsome. I'm surprised that William Holden and Louis Jourdan aren't on the list. So happy to see Alain Delon there! Gregory Peck is my personal favourite.
oh yes the thoroughly incomparably magnificent GREAT GRAND & GORGEOUS Gregory Peck remains the most ruggedly soulfully beautifully handsome filmstar ever 💙
@@sunny_zeddy_cy You said all I ever wanted to say. Greg was really a pack of all great features! Bravo!
Yes, I agree - Gregory Peck - tall, charming, wonderful smile and more handsome as he got older
I think that Peter O'Toole should be on the list! The gorgeous Lawrence of Arabia!
Louis Jourdan was very suave and handsome for sure.
Tyrone Power was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen.
He was for me a cheaper version of peck and grant .in caracter a pig
He is the father of the singer Romina Power
amen
Agree - Power was blessed with perfect looks and he was a great actor, too.
Absolutely!🌹👍
Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharrif in Lawrence of Arabia represent the epitome of two very different kinds of masculine beauty. And how could you omit Louis Jordan? And I have a soft spot for James Mason.
Paul Newman is my number one!
Clint Eastwood too can't help but think Tony Curtis too.
All were handsome in their own way. Some, on the edge of pretty yet rugged enough to be called manly, and others ruggedly handsome. My favorite, Tyrone Powers!
Tyrone Power. Not Powers.
@@eileenhetherington3704 Yes, I should know
Rudolph Valentino, Errol Flynn, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Tony Curtis and Paul Newman are at the top of my list. And Elvis is my idol. I love music and I can sing.

Those were the days. I'm addicted to films from the 30's and 40's. LOVE Robert Taylor!

Love the B&W movies on TCM from the late 30s and thru the 40s.
Robert Taylor great number one choice!
I agree with most of them, not all. Robert Taylor was a good #1. William Holden and John Wayne were both handsome in their day and Charlton Heston is more handsome than so many of your choices.
I prefer dark hair but Peter O'Toole as Lawrence of Arabia-Holy Cow--just breathtakingly handsome right along with Omar Sharif!
Robert Taylor is the number one for me; amazing beauty like an ancient Greek sculpture....
Yesssss! Robert Taylor was mesmerizing!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
True
Valentino was amazingly gorgeous. I know my mother loved R. Taylor but I don't feel the same way.
I agree!
Indeed
Alain Delon number one. Incredibly beautiful
Alain Deloin was very good looking, but he lacked the manly appeal and glamour of Robert Taylor, Burt Lancaster, Christopher Plummer, etc.
@@onlyoneamong300 Agreed
There is a restaurant in Paris where he has his table. Saw him last year, he was having lunch. He is quite old now, definitely could be my father. He looked very sad (the last years haven’t been kind to him) but when he looked up and smiled at me (he probably noticed I was staring) I sort of melted on the spot. He’s still got it.
@@SopranoLiliWow! It sounds like a romantic movie! What are the chances of seeing an old movie star, like Alain Deloin, seating at a cafe, in Paris, of all places, when he looks back at you and smiles!!! Your heart must have pumped so hard it almost came out of your chest! Normally, anyone would have taken a picture of him because that chance will never, ever happen again! Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure that you respected his privacy because you wanted to savour and treasure that brief, beautiful moment! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing!
@@onlyoneamong300 oh no I would never have taken a picture, it would have been very rude (and I’m way too old for fangirling 😅)
Paul Newman and Robert Redford are the more handsome to me. Gregory Peck was a real gentleman, an honest faithful husband and caring father. An example of a what a man should be
I adored Gregory Peck, and agree he was one of the most faithful in Hollywood, however he did have an affair with Ingrid Bergman while married to his first wife.

@@Tomas-ql9yo, me too. He had the perfect shaped nose, and I think that he was good looking. I, also, liked his face.
Actually, that's not true. In his early stage career, he usually played the part of the the good-looking young cad or playboy type. He almost lost the part that helped launch him in Hollywood, "The Petrified Forrest", because they thought he looked "too pretty" to play a bad guy. Leslie Howard threatened to pull out of the project if they didn't cast him since he'd played it so brilliantly on Broadway. I've always found him incredibly magnetic and sexy.
Robert Taylor was ridiculously handsome when young. Another favorite not mentioned is Stewart Granger. I don't know about anyone else but Dirk Bogarde and Desi Arnaz could pass for brothers lol. Not a sweatshirt to be found on any of them, except Paul Newman playing Rocky Graziano. LOL
Tara Nestor Too many American men today look homeless. Disheveled hair and unshaven. Tattooed. A lot of women aren't much better, they look like slobs too. Not all of course! ....but I have seen many men I have mistaken for being homeless. They carry around an old backpack and wear torn clothing. I'm sure they are nice people and even have jobs, but I guess it's just a style they enjoy. Someone explain if that's considered attractive nowadays? As an example, look at NBA Cavaliers basketball player Kevin Love. He can afford a shave and a good haircut, but instead he sports a sweaty unkempt look, week old beard, and just overall looks homeless. Hope I don't offend anyone but I'm guessing he just likes to look that way. Same for many others....
I would add that most Canadian men also look like that. Why don't boys' mothers and fathers teach them to dress properly?
Tara Nestor so do i they are yummy.
Tara Nestor now they look like drooling pervs

Not really!
Should have been Top 5
I started watching classic films of 1930s and 1940s when my parents got cable tv in the 1980s. I was 11, and all my preteen movie star crushes were in black-and-white. My favorites were Cary Grant (my #1!), Erroyl Flynn (actually I think I saw Robin Hood on tv when I was about age 8 -- great film! Lovely costumes!), also Burt Lancaster, Tyrone Power. And I also agree on Montgomery Clift and Laurence Olivier. In more recent years, while enjoying TCM, I have grown even more appreciation for not only the classy looks, but the truth and humanity of their acting, the writers who brought out the characters and stories, the moods of the lighting, et cetera. Robert Taylor was certainly one of the best!
Charlton Heston deserves to be one this list also!
I agree!
Handsome he may have been but his support of the NRA after yet another school massacre by a gunman put me off. Anyone who could still support carrying weapons around that allows people to kill indiscriminately isn't someone I want to know about. What's sickening is how his children are trying to re-write Heston's memory with their recollection of him as a father. That wasn't the Charlton Heston that showed himself to the world.

Gregory Peck 💙 this thoroughly incomparably magnificent and beautifully ruggedly soulfully handsome GREAT GRAND & GORGEOUS Gregory Peck, with his towering stature, his heart-pounding screen presence with dozens of iconic film performances, his velvet-rumble voice, his courageous compassionate fraternal-paternal spirit, his immense dignity, humanity & stature, his heartfelt family values and his amazing ahead-of-his time intelligent social leadership 💙 Greg has proven himself be the GREATEST filmstar EVER ⭐
Going by your speech, I'm guessing you absolutely LOVE him? 💜
I dont understand why Thérèse Israël notre Gérard Philippe
I dont understand why Thérèse isn't Gérard Philippe and Clint Eastwood !!!
Hear hear
Sunny Zeddy Cy. Just after I was born, my father visited my mother, he asked "What are we going to name him?" My mother was watching a Gregory Peck movie on TV, so she said "Gregory", well, that's what I've been told!
Can't believe Clint Walker isn't on any of these lists! Beautiful man in every way! Could sing too.
Exactly. He's my choice for number 1 as well. He had an awesome voice you got that right as well.
To me, the most handsome man to ever grace the screen. He would be my #1.
Because he wasn't a big star.
John Derek, Kirk Douglas , Maximilian Schell , Sean Connery and Toshiro Mifune,
Maximillian....yes indeedy.
Robert Redford ..magic
And John Richardson
Sean Connery looks more handsome as he ages. 🤩
Kirk Douglas-ick!
Glad you put Paul Newman ❤as #2. Glad you added Tony Curtis ❤!
Robert Taylor was not only handsome, but so talented too. Loved him in Waterloo Bridge. My husband's grandfather and Robert Taylor were 2nd cousins. We always watch his movies when they are on.
I remember him in *THE DETECTIVES*

Greath actor one of the best
My father (1914-2006) always said Robert Taylor was the second best looking man in the world. Of course my Dad was the first. 😌
“Waterloo Bridge” is heart-breaking.
He was very under rated bc of his looks.
Robert Taylor was my mom's favorite actor. So nice to see all the photos. Thanks for bring up some great memories.
Very Good, i think poul Newman was the first.i would have include william holden, And robert redford.
Linda Tarantino Holden should have been #1
Awesome. Gone with the wind soundtrack is perfect.
Tyrone Power in his early years was almost otherworldly handsome- too beautiful for either man or woman - too beautiful !!!!
What happen to Tony Crutis?
I agree and Lawrence Olivia in Withering Heights was outrageously handsome !
I totally agree! Tyrone Power was the most beautiful man I've ever seen. He was stunningly handsome as Axel de Fersen in 1938's "Marie Antoinette."
My mother is 90 years old she said she has never seen a man more handsome than Tyrone Power not even my father and he was pretty good looking when he was young!
Tyrone Power, the most handsome of all.
Gary Cooper and Robert Taylor had perfect features. Their eyes and lips were mesmerizing.
Where is William Holden? Defenitly handsome!!!!
I was looking for the "common denominator" between these beautiful men, and the thing that struck me was their EYES - (what my mother called) "bedroom eyes". ~swoon~
Gary Cooper his eyes just melt into you
all have very beautiful eyes
the photos - especially the first of each - emphasized the eyes by the placement of the camera and the angle of the eyes
Bedroom eyes! My mom used to say that about Elvis Presley!
Everything else from their eyes to the tips of their toes too!
I grew up with these actors and as a young girl, they set the standard for handsome males in my mind. To me they are classically handsome men. Robert Taylor did have a great smile, but strictly on physical looks, Paul Newman, hands down numero uno. Valentino died many years before I was even born, to me he’s “meh”. Today, though as an elder myself, I appreciate the good looking actors of this era. But to me Brad Pitt is tops. I think he has aged pretty well. I was 18 when he was born so, technically, I could be his mother.
No one will deny that Robert Taylor was a handsome devil but the accolades for most handsome has to go, hands down, to Errol Flynn. There was no one like him. Right behind him has to be Gary Cooper, one of the most perfect faces ever to be captured on film. I'm disappointed that William Holden is not mentioned in this collage. He certainly deserves it.
For me,too,Errol Flynn is the most handsome man ever
@@teodorinaisachi9950 NO WAY Rock Hudson has that title
William Holden hands-down. Should be right next to Paul Newman, Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster.
I agree with you 100%, Errol Flynn is most handsome to me.
And Errol Flynn was renowned fot having a huge cock too ....... that`s being too greedy.
Alain Delon should've been on the first place. I often indulge myself with the retrospective of his masterpieces working my way up from his very first movie. I'm at the year 68 now.
I have been watching some Alain Delon movies, on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) Channel, and he was one of their featured stars, for their ANNUAL "Summer Of The Stars," whereby a star is featured for (24) hours, each day, during the month of August. Alain Delon, was gorgeous, with those blue/grey eyes, and he was an amazing actor too!😍 His Movies are in French, but I still enjoyed all of them. They are stored on my DVR, and I am catching up on all of them!😎
Tracy Davis French movies are addiction we shouldn’t feel sorry about. Wish I could speak French to enjoy them even more.
@@StanOwden, the good thing about Alain Delon's movies, was that the language was transcribed. Kind of like reading closed captioning, for the hearing impaired. So, I am able to read what they are saying, on the t.v. screen, which is great!
@@tracydavis8982 Alain Delon paired w/Ornela Mutti in “Le Guépard » made the most impossibly gorgeous couple on film. Delon was just breathtaking.
@@jayesimond9301
That was Claudia Cardinale Delon was paired with.

Chary grant pound for pound, talent, expression, one of the best dresses actor in all time.
