I just did mine, if you release the brackets the silver outer pipe can be lowered below the copper pipe to allow you to push the cable through the hole, I was worried when i couldn't do it and thought I'd have to do it your way, which would be a bit beyond my capabilities, but as I said, loosen/remove the brackets securing the silver/outer pipe to the shower wall and you can then twist and pull down the silver pipe enough to push the cable through the hole
I did mine this way and it took me about 15 minutes, so much easier than doing it from the top. The only additional thing I would add, is you have to remove the black plastic retainer at the bottom, to be able to lower the control housing off the chrome pipe. Thanks for your help guys

@@davidburns8318 still managed to put the pinch grip on upside down, so had to do it all again. So I still made it hard for myself/ Have a good one
